"I am sorry, Larry," Perry said apologetically. "I did not intend for things to reach this point." 

Larry rubbed his face in agitation. "Clearly. You weren't supposed to be able to experience affection. If I had known…I never would have made you like this. I'm a horrible person."

"You are not a horrible person. You did not know. Your cruelty was unintentional." 

"That doesn't make me feel any better, Perry! You know it was cruel and you're suffering because of it. I can't help you. It's impossible. You aren't real and you never will be. You can't experience taste or touch or anything like that and it's my fault." 

Larry looked up and Perry was startled to see tears in his eyes. He had never cried before. "I'm so sorry! It wasn't supposed to be like this. It was never supposed to be like this. I was supposed to have someone to talk to who could talk back but I never would have imagined you falling in love."
