Tough love

"I know of recommended temples for him, to wade off bad luck." Nuth shared to Fahsai's parents.

"There's no way I'm letting him go out anymore." Fahsai's mom pouted.

"Dad wouldn't dare go out anymore." Fahsai relented.

"I need to use the restroom so badly." Nuth claimed. But that was just an excuse to see Chern Piu.

"What did you do to my friend, she's afraid of you." Fai questioned him.

"Ask her that, and if your friend hasn't told you then you shouldn't know. Nosy people never end well." Chern Piu said.

"I have never seen anybody with a bad mouth end up well either." Fai retorted.

"Step aside!" He ordered her.

"No way!" She refused and defied him until a gurney came around a corner and knocked her against him. And where he could have caught her, he let her fall right on her butt.

"The nurses told me to step aside, I was just following orders." Chern Piu said. He extended his hand to her but a boy rushed by crying for his Dad and that caught his attention. The image reminded him of a time where he too was crying for his Dad while something burned and people held him back.

"Are you having an episode?" Fai rushed to him. "Were you traumatized as a child? I know how it feels."

"No, you don't!" He disagreed with her.

"I lost my parents at a very young age and I became an orphan. Of course I understand and that's why I told myself that I must be rich and pretty so that my parents' spirits can rest in peace." She explained.

"Mind your own business." He told her as he turned away. Fai then made a mistake of grabbing him from the back. He instinctively used his self-defense on her, injuring her shoulder.

"I'll take care of the hospital bills." He said.

"I'm not going to get hurt and lose money too." She spat. Daniel gave him one look and Chern Piu apologized to Fai with a bow.

"Girls! Take me out of here." Fai told her colleagues as nothing seemed to soothe her anger.

"I didn't intend to hurt her." Chern Piu said to his Boss on their way back home.

"I know, you couldn't control your own anger. One is the only person in control of one's emotions, it's nobody else's fault, so you would need to blame yourself."

In the hospital, the surgery was a success.

"Who loaned you the money?" Fahsai's mom asked her.

"I work at the magazine firm and the money would just be deducted from my paycheck each month." She lied.

"Thanks for saving my Dad." Fahsai thanked Dr. Kwan.

"I was just doing my job, but if you feel particularly grateful, you ought to stay away from my man." Dr. Kwan said.

"Have been staying away from him." Fahsai said confusedly. "Is that what he told you?" She wondered. "Not everything you hear could be the truth." She left it go since she didn't want to stir up trouble between the two. That gave Dr. Kwan a pause though, but she repeated her stance.

"Stay away from my boyfriend!"

"Actually, I wanted to thank you for taking him away from me." Fahsai gave the doctor a sweet smile.

"Quite impressive!" Chanming who had been listening in, complimented on her ability to control her emotions. He thought a war was going to break out.

"I'm not the type who likes to compete all the time." She challenged him.

"No one likes to be a loser, right?" Chanming questioned her.

"It wouldn't be about losing or winning if you understand forgiveness." Fahsai said.

"It takes two to tango."

"I've never seen Daniel trying to win over you."

"Just because you haven't seen, doesn't mean it didn't happen."

"Have you seen it with your own eyes, that he was the perpetrator?"

Chanming immediately got angry and gripped her by the shoulders, and listed all of Daniel's supposed crimes.

"Daniel is despicable. I need the black book to redeem gang Suer Khao." He released his hold on her. "Only after that, I might be free from the gang. So, when are you going to start? I want to help your efforts along."

"What do you have in mind?" She questioned him.

Later on, Fahsai paid a visit to Daniel's office, offering an innocent smile when she sees him and probably wrecking her brain for an excuse.

"I was just in the area and I wonder if I left my pen here. Have you seen it perhaps?" She asked the latter who peered at her questioningly, like she had grown another head.

"It's quite an expensive pen and it could be such a shame to lose it." She said.

He just sat back with a subtle smile and watched her searching for her pen. Instead she was looking around for the black book, as if he would put it in plain sight.

"You won't find what you're looking for here, the room has been cleaned." He laughed lightly and she looked away guiltily and excused herself.

"Wait, I can take you back." He stopped her in her tracks.
