Gullible Child

It had been one week of;

my condolences my lady, your majesty you're free to do this… we are very sorry for your loss, my deepest regards and so on.

It's not like I didn't feel bad about my father's death, I did and I mourned and cried my eyes and almost my soul out that night of his death and the next, but was too much since my father was I would say the most hated king in this lands. By the people. So them trying to offer me comfort was hypocrisy.

He ruled fairly, yes, but he was too tough on the people but the people never complained since without him they had no protection from the outside world and continents.

Without him the Land of Reinsas would be in ruins, our country was no longer the most powerful one in the continent since there had awoken powerful rulers, human monsters, who ruled with iron fists. Who could just snap their fingers and a whole island could sink.

My father had never locked his power like I did with the ring on my finger, he let it out to roam freely. Why he was hated was because my father was initially never supposed to be king, he was a bastard son and I was his only daughter.

My brother, Will, was a brother from another mother but my father had loved both of us unconditionally after his father died but it seemed like my father's generosity didn't make the people of Reinsas happy.

So, the reason why the people were being overfriendly was because they wanted some favour and recognition from me. So that I could whisper their names when choosing the new court officials. My brother would obviously become king and his coronation would happen soon but not before we as the royal family had grieved his loss for two more weeks from now.

Will, although he hadn't shown it to anybody, he had been shaken by my father's loss. They were almost like best friends, my dad always taught him everything to do with the kingdoms paperwork and how to deal with officials from the court who were spoiled rotten. Only a person with enough power would make them bow, like my father but they disrespected him regardless.

Someone in that same same court had ordered that he be killed by a woman when she went please him and I wanted to know who had the guts and was wise enough to know that the Knives Of Asher would cause him instant death. It was obviously someone close to him but who?

"Rosa?" my grandmother called and pulled me out of my investigative thoughts, I walked to sit beside her while she ate grapes.

"Hm" I hummed looking away from the noisy crowd and slid my eyes to her brown chocolate ones, just like mine and my father's. She wore a worried look all the time I saw her and I always wondered if she ever smiled even when she was a tad bit younger.

"Aren't you scared Lina?" she asked. I almost winced at what she called me, Lina, it was my name but only she and him had ever called me that way. Before any sombering thoughts about him filled my mind, I shut them out.

"Scared of what?" I was scared but if I started going through my worries toI would die of worry and I wasn't ready to do that.

"You know what am talking about child, your father is dead" I shivered and listened to my oncoming problems. "he was the only one who could protect you from the Court you were his only child and not Will, you're the only one left to fend for yourself and protect yourself" she didn't say it quite clearly, did she?

No. I'll explain.

Initially it was Jillian And Allysa, they were both 'pureblood' human but it had been an arranged marriage so Allysa wasn't in love Jillian, she had a secret lover whom unfortunately was of the Moonlight Fayrie.

First Allysa bore a child from Jillian since it was necessary according to the laws back then, his name was Nick Draggo (Will's father) but she bore another one with the Moonlight Fayrie who was pureblood fay. When Jillian found out, he killed his wife and the fayrie in ways no body till date was able to decipher but the boy survived.

His name was Kaden Hazelwood, my father, and for the throne only a powerful person could rule. Powerful enough to protect the Kingdom so Kaden and Nick fought for it but obviously my father was stronger due to fay magic and he won. He was crowned king although as I said no body wanted him to rule since he was a bastard son and he was no human so they feared him.

My father later came to find out about that Nick had a son, Will Draggo, after Nick perished in a mysterious fire. My father took him in as his son, I was born two years later by Autumn Greeves who died during childbirth. I was Fayrie just like my dad. So if my father was dead, I had no one in the ranks to protect me and keep me here so I could be driven out any minute.

"My brother will protect me" I told my grandmother, mother to my mother, she snorted a laughter and trained her eyes at me. She looked at my eyes with curiosity which I didn't quite understand,

"He's not even your real brother and you trust him so much, gullible little girl" Will was my only protection at the time so I had to trust him whether I liked it or not.

I was an orphan in a house/castle which was my home and not my home too.

"He will protect me granny" I said with finality my ring glowing. My emotions had been provoked, my grandmother placed her hand on top of it to prevent it from showing to other people or they would start seeing me as a threat too soon.

"I hope so child, now accompany your grandmother to bed, will you" I took her hand and led her out of the ballroom to her chambers. On my way back I met with Lloyd, my fathers spokesman who glared at me with a proud smirk,

"You will be out of here very soon, princess" he stressed on the 'princess' part, mocking me and looking at my ring probably to make sure it was there or I would roast him to death.

I smiled proudly that he felt kind of threatened.

But I didn't show any weakness and raised my chin and walked past him with a smile and I could see some confusion on his face. He wanted me to cower but I could never give him that satisfaction but my insides were scared.

What I was fearing was true, I would be sent out of here sooner or later but not before I discovered who my father's murderer was. I wouldn't leave the castle before that.

Not a minute before that.

What do you think of Rosalina Hazelwood so far?
