Snake swallows whale
I started this novel because, frankly, I liked the cover art... that combined with the title word "Sage" I was hoping for a more balanced and sensible character progression with more reasonable behavior and goals... When he struggled with a general army cultivation method from a BiL, I was happy... when he was nice to his "new" family, I was content.... When he became a blacksmith apprentice for some clan/family coverage, I was ecstatic (though I should have picked up on him not doing much if any smithing)... Then things became OK... THEN then things became "I'll just go with it"... BUT there was almost a reprieve, he was going to awarded a fief in what we think of as western China/ Mongolia-esque and he lamented not having a "home and place to fit in and belong"...OK, now he's going to act his mental age and here come's my original goal I thought... he's going to carve out a balanced, long-term existence for himself where other's can't screw with him... NOPE NOPE NOPE, he didn't develop ****, he pawned off everything to subordinates that followed him... he closed-door it... he began face-slapping everywhere... I've given up Oh Yeah... The thing preventing higher cultivators from messing with "mortal" business is CRAP... no one is willing to spend energy to activate the book and everyone knows it... they can use words and money to manipulate and that's different from hands-on (what BS is this)... AND puppet kings/ emperors want to cultivate the "Way of the Emperor" (does a person bringing home takeout get credit as a chef)
It's not worth it.... The MC is very plane with no character development. Always makes foolish decisions while the author tries to justify it which makesit more annoying. There is only one absolute truth in novel.... The MC will act like a loyal dog to anyone who he can't defeat even if that person doesn't respect him at all, sometimes even humiliates him. And he doesn't give a **** about anyone who is weaker than him. I mean he is so stupid... There is this one time when someone invites him to steal a treasure from a powerful general who defeated an empire from his camp which is surrounded by a whole army. At first he said that he don't want troubles and in the next second he decided to agree. And the fucking reason is because he wants to know how powerful that person is. And you know what the most amazing thing is. He met a very powerful person but still escaped from the whole army by flying above their heads. It would make sense if he is very powerful but noo..... he is just a big ant. And everyone and even himself thinks he is clever. I tried to tolerate as much as I can but this is too much... At least use some common sense, author. Why is he sooo stupid. I think even I am turning stupid after reading this.
Too Painful to Read. First and foremost, names shouldn't be translated. For some reason the translator, translate the name of the MC from "Zhou Bao" to "Junior Leopard". Everytime I read "Junior Leopard" in the novel, I feel the urge to press Page Down. This is really a huge NO. From the table of content, the update seems quite stable. The story development have nothing interesting. Generic transfer to another place, with no background whatsoever why the MC got transferred. And the MC got too many lucky encounter. Character design is generic, no one is really interesting. World Background is not clear enough, the author explain about some balance of the external and internal and there seems to be different fighter level. But it just vague and confusing. Since I only read the first 50 chapter, the review might be seems unfair. But, the first 50 chapters of a novel is actually one of the most important part of the novel. It will decide whether the reader got hooked or not. I'm not hooked. There are better novel out there.
I don’t recommend anyone to start it now since it’s premium and the locked chapters start from chapter 78 till the new chapters which is around 390 or more. The reason why I will not recommend this because it’s to expensive if you just started reading it or even read it before but didn’t have time to read till chapters 350 or more. The cost for each unlock is 11 and more so it’s near impossible to unlock it that far with the free stones and if someone want to buy then they would have to spend more than $60 dollars.
I really like this novel and think it is underrated. It avoids most of the annoying parts of reincarnation novels, an example is that he doesn’t feel particularly attached to his new family, which is reasonable because he has 40 years of memories from his previous life. I also like the cultivation methods and realm the author came up with. Definitely worth a read!
I don't know why this isn't rated higher. An intelligent MC who realizes the limits of greed and acting too proud, someone who not only goes along with the flow but realizes why that can be smart. An MC who is willing to play the political games for gains, but makes sure his reach doesn't exceed his grasp. Easily one of the best novels on here.
To be able to enjoy this story please jump straight to chapter 8. The first seven is the same with other ln . Apart from the author other worldly obsession for the mc to show off his junk. You can just mentioned it in chap 1 then let it go. But author insist to remind reader of this particular aspect of the mc in every single chap which I believe to cover the word count. Trust me skip the first 6 chap at least. It's a waste of time. Then enjoy this rough gem
Great story, interesting MC, different build up from other xianxia novel but the translation quality is horrible. As expected from TransN team. Each chapter is short but bc of the horrible editing and translation it makes me have read longer just to makes sense the whole chapter, just like reading an mtl translation in lnmtl.
