No ordinary omega

Iris was flabbergasted. He couldn't be talking about… that night… could he? He was only a few hours old at most! How could he remember? Gabrielle turned around and made eye contact with Iris. This much was fact: Donovan was no ordinary omega.

"Donovan darling, sweet pea." Iris reached and pulled the sliding door separating the driver and passenger closed. The less people know, the better. She noticed the strange look the driver gave her through the rearview mirror when Gabrielle reacted.

"Yes mommy?"

"How did you know the baby on the cart was a girl?"

"I thought everyone could tell." Donovan looked up, confused.

"Sweet pea, listen to me." Iris cupped both hands around Donovan's cheeks, tilting his head towards her. She looked into his eyes, her face stern. "Never tell anyone about this. You understand?"

Donovan didn't want to anger his omega mommy and have her go back to ignoring him like before, so he nodded his head obediently. He didn't understand why, but if that's what omega mommy wants, he'll do it. Anything to prevent being neglected again.

"Good boy." Iris smiled and kissed him on both cheeks. Giggles bubbled out of Donovan. Two kisses! "What did you mean by you don't smell like me and mommy?"

"You remind me of roses, alpha mommy reminds me of rain. But I smell like oranges. Most kids smell like their parents and I don't. The cart baby didn't smell like either of us. That's how I knew cart baby wasn't baby brother." Donovan went into full detail, more motivated than ever. Maybe he'll receive a second reward? He dared to let his hopes up.

"Interesting. Can you tell me more?"

"Like what mommy?"

"Anything that makes you different from the other children?"

"I'm wearing a Ski… ski… ski…" His face scrunched up adorably in effort.

"SkinTab?"

"That. Other children don't." He continued staring into Iris, reminding her of the first time she laid eyes on him. "It's not fair."

"Anything else?"

"I get sick every month and somehow I don't smell like oranges then."

"What do you notice that you think is weird?" Iris phrased her question a little differently. If Donovan really did have these abilities, then it must be that he notices something out of the ordinary for him.

"I don't know why the other omega children don't have to wear them. And they don't get sick either. It's not fair." Donovan repeated, his lips pursed in a pout.

He can tell the secondary genders of the other children?

"How do you know they're omegas?"

"Because they-

A gust of air interrupted Donovan. Gabrielle opened the taxi door.

"Get inside and hide in the cupboard." Gabrielle leaned down to whisper into Iris's ear.

Iris nodded. The cupboard is what they called the hidden room in the basement—Gabrielle built it herself when Iris was in her erratic phase and felt a need to hide.

When she got out of the car, a wild idea came into Iris's mind.
