8 Against the King

Choose your next actions very carefully, demon. You do not want to tread a path of no return.."

Gilgamesh spoke, as he gently placed his wine glass on a small glass table before him.

"Oh, give me your best shot!"

Mazikeen roared out and reached out, seemingly twisting and churning the shadows around her.

Smiling, Gilgamesh remained unaffected, as dozens of golden portals materialized behind him.

**

His blood red pupils never left Mazikeen's figure, as if trying to peer into the core of her soul, and pry into her true nature.

Smiling, Mazikeen took a step forward, as two long dark blades materialized from the shadows, as she gripped them tightly.

"Its truly amusing to think you believe you could actually hurt me, demon. I have faced beings far mightier than you can ever dream of. It's a pity you're going loose your worthless life here, at least you could've been of some use to this King."

The moment Gilgamesh laughed, multiple divine swords materialized from within the golden portals, all aimed towards Mazikeen, like arrows ready to be released from their bowstrings.

"What is a man to a King, what is a King to a God, and what is a God to a non believer, and what is a non believer to the true power of a demon!"

Mazikeen quoted with a laugh, before she rushed out with full speed, shattering the sonic barrier in an instant.

*BOOOM!*

With her two blades in hands, she instantly slashed towards Gilgamesh's neck, ignoring and dismissing the ridiculing smile and confident expression on his face as false fronts to preserve his dignity.

*SWOOSH!**SWOOSH!*

However in the next moment, her expression changed drastically, as she instantly crossed the two swords before her chest, merely an inch before Gilgamesh's face.

*BANG!*

In that moment, a divine sword moving several times faster than sound smashed right into the two swords crossed before her chest and hurled her several meters away, as she crashed into his wall, sending shards of broken glass and concrete flying into the distance.

Recovering in nearly an instant, from an attack that could've probably caused a natural disaster if the Earth had borne the dull brunt of, Mazikeen slowly arose from the rubble, covered in burns, which rapidly healed, as the left side of her face began to rot immediately.

"Hahaha. To think I'm bringing out my demon face after so long."

She laughed, as the withering half of her face completely switched to a demonic and evil looking appearance, as a long cloak materialized behind her.

With an evil smirk on her face, she waved her hand, as two massive orbs of demonic energy materialized on her left and right.

The next moment, the two orbs blasted out, turning into two massive beams of dark grey energy which blasted towards Gilgamesh, decaying everything in its path.

Refilling his wine magically, Gilgamesh took a sip and smiled, and in that moment, another golden portal materialized behind him, and from within that portal, a massive bolt of divine lightning exploded forth, fracturing reality and space time, as it smashed into Mazikeen's demon energy beam.

The resulting shockwave from the clash of both divine energies seemed to shatter space itself, sending out intangible ripples of destruction across the entire globe.

Mazikeen lost in the contest of power, and her entire body was hurled into the distance, as she crashed into a wall, sending shards of glass and stones flying across the room once more.

She quickly arose from the ground, gnashing her teeth in anger and resorting to her own personal demonic ability.

Stretching out her hand, a pair of curved twin daggers materialized within to which a murderous smile formed on her face.

"I didn't think I'd have to resort to this to fight someone like you. Activating the bloodline of the Lilim within my body mostly leaves me exhausted for a while. The bloodline allows me to manipulate pain itself, allowing me to multiply and add to any sort of pain I cause by infinity."

As she spoke, her body slowly transformed. Her lush black hair turned blood red, her fangs grew out, and dark black bat wings grew out from her back. A black tattoo materialized on the normal half of her face further amplifying her demonic charm.

"Impressive. However if this was all it took to take down the King of Heroes, then I would not be worthy of bearing such a title....

Forgive me, however, as I can only accompany you thus far. I would not want to get my hands dirty afterall. Allow my humble servant to play with you for a while.."

With a ridiculing smile, Gilgamesh merely snapped his fingers, and then, a figure slowly emerged from the darkness emanating wisps of smoke and dark miasma like a grim reaper.

The figure was draped in a long black robe that covered his head, while his pale skin seemed to flinch under the bright sun.

"Indulge her on my behalf Adramalech, but don't take too long.."

Gilgamesh spoke, while he arrogantly cross his legs, sipping his wine and watching the two face off.

"After you..."

The figure named Adramalech spoke, and waved his hand, as a long and deathly black scythe coalesced from wisps of smoke into his hand.

"You..what are you?!"

Mazikeen bared her fangs, as her eyes confusingly glared at her new opponent.

"Seems you're not as hot headed as I thought. Allow me to introduce myself then. My name is Adramalech, the first of all Djinns, a supernatural race created by his majesty to serve in his grand purpose."

The figure spoke and slowly removed the hood covering his head, revealing a pair of lush grey hair, a pale face and dark blue irises, a stark contrast to his previous appearance.

'Impossible!! The blood of the old Gods, demons and Nephilim all fused into one being?!!'

Quickly realising what she was up against, she rushed out at full speed, wanting to cut down the miscegenated abomination in one fell swoop.

"For the glory of the King of Heroes!!"

*BOOOOMM!*

Smiling towards Mazikeen who was quickly approaching him at Mach speed, Adramalech closed his eyes for a moment, twirled his scythe and lifted it up high, before slamming it into the ground, shattering the concrete floor.

As a bomb had been dropped in that moment, a powerful demonic miasma burst out in all directions, eradicating everything in its path.

....The next day...

...LAPD....

Seated within the confines of the Los Angeles Police Department, and exhausted Chloe sat within the interrogation room, behind a desk filled with stacks of papers.

Her uncanny appearance and the stacks of plastic cups stained with coffee was evidence of the all nighter she had pulled at the facility, all in the name of finding out and bringing to justice the person or peolle behind the death of thr security guard known as Erwin Scovell, she had to, after all she had promised his wife and children and was planning on doing exactly that.

However, someway somehow, she felt a premonition. This case was going to be a tad different from the others. She could feel within her that this case was going to be connected in one way or the other to Lucifer, that she was sure of.

Taking a sip of the cup of coffee by her side, her eyes quickly went back to skimming through the papers -- records of people and organisations whose illegal items were stored within that warehouse.

As she flipped through the pages, her eyes came across several organisations but she ignored, due to not having neither the power nor the time to investigate such powers.

'Aurelian Consortium.'

She saw one organisation whose name was boldly written on one of the sheets, and she frowned a bit, as a handsome godly face resurfaced within her memories. The man whom she was still investigating for a murder.

As she flipped once more, her eyes widened in surprise, which caused her to pause for a moment.

The next company, or in fact, establishment whose name was registered for storing illegal contraband was none other than Lucifer's own Lux.

Her intuition had been right after all, Lucifer was indeed connected to the case, as for how or why she had no idea and planned to find out.

The next moment, she quickly took out her phone.

"Dan..."

She called out, resting the phone on her left ear, as she continued skimming through the pages.

"I've identified several companies whose items were being stored in that illegal warehouse. As it stands now we do not have the power to go against them, however I also found out that Lux stores their goods there. This could be our entry point in the case.

I need you to go through Lux's books and find out what exactly was stored.

Thank you.."

She ended the call, and went back to the papers with a curious expression. Perhaps could it have been what Lucifer was hiding from her all along? There was only one way to find out, and she was going to.

"Good morning, partner.."

Suddenly, a handsome figure in a suit trotted into the investigation room with his signature smile.

"Oh, rough night? It seems you're still Hell bent on solving the bloody murder of that poor little chap."

Lucifer commented, seeing her unkempt expression and the messy desk top, and the moment her eyes dawned on him, she seemed to hesitate, however she gathered courage.

"Lucifer, we have a lead, something I believe to be a break in the case, but I need you to be very honest and cooperative with me.."

Her eyes watched his every expression in detail.

"Honest? Detective, honesty is my middle name. Well, actually it's Morningstar, but that's beside the point. Ask me anything, and you shall receive nothing but the unvarnished truth."

He took out a drink from his pocket, picked up Chloe's coffee cup, poured it in and took a sip.

"Lucifer, the warehouse that was robbed and was used to house illegal contraband.

Someway somehow, as I glimpsed through the records, I found out that Lux, your establishment used to store stuff in there.."

She spoke with seriousness, however he merely looked at her and laughed afterwards.

"Is that it, Detective? Well, what better place to store my things, am I right? Oh the joys of being associated with the underworld both literally and figuratively.."

"Lucifer that doesn't make any sense. What the hell was so important that you needed to store it in an illegal warehouse?"

Chloe asked with a frown.

"Let's just say, Detective, I have a penchant for unconventional storage. But if you want to know, those things in that warehouse are things that should never be revealed to mankind."

He spoke, however she rolled her eyes and stood up while packing the papers on her desk.

"Well, until you tell me what you know, you're off the case.."

After packing she stormed out angrily while Lucifer looked on flabbergastedly.

"Detective, come on, you said you wanted the truth.."

He hurriedly chased after her, trying to explain himself to his best ability.
