1 The Castle Without A Master

"It's been thousands of years... I am so bored." A voice echoed through an expansive hall. The shadows in the corner vibrated as the voice passed through them. An unfathomable power was contained in just the sound of the being's voice.

"Master... Perhaps you could go to the Temple of Gods to cause a ruckus?" The shadow beside the being's grand throne shook and morphed, taking on the form of a two meter tall humanoid, before the darkness washed away, revealing a man who seemed to be in his late forties. The man spoke, looking up at the being as he did.

"Even that sounds too boring..." The being sighed tiredly, "I should have taken my time to reach the peak. Now, no one can stand against me, and that has made it so that no one even tries these days..."

"..." The being's servant did not know what to say.

"You know what?" The powerful being suddenly said, a hint of amusement present in its tone.

"What is it that you think of, Master?"

"How about I start over?"

"What do you mean, Master? Starting over... Do you want to erase the multiverse?" The butler was confused. Such an action would cause all the Gods in the Temple of Gods to rally together in order to rebel against his master.

"No, that would be stupid. I am too lazy to build everything back up. Even the Great Creator went to rest after creating the multiverse. That just shows how much work would need to be put into recreating it all... What I mean is that, I will start my growth all over again." The being leaned forward as he spoke, exposing his face to the dim lighting of the throne room.

He had long, black hair that perfectly framed his chiseled face. Two obsidian horns that were twisted swept down from the sides of his head, framing his head even more perfectly beneath his long bangs. A pair of glowing red eyes were fixed upon his trusted Butler.

The Butler gulped audibly. The plan of his master was very... Bold. It fit his master's personality, but even still, it was very risky.

"I know what you are thinking; It is very risky." The being said, and the butler bowed his head. "Do not worry, I already have fate in my grasp. Even if I fail to climb back up to my lofty throne once, I will be reborn. The cycle shall continue until I finally reach that height." The being stood up from his throne, walked down the staircase before the throne, and held out his hands, basking in his glory.

"Prepare the Pool of Rebirth." He ordered.

"As you wish, Master." The butler bowed once before turning around and departing from the throne room. As he did, the powerful being returned to his seat atop his throne. The shadows of the throne room twisted and turned as he thought to himself.

"I already have so much... There are some things that I have always wanted to do, but my power has never been geared towards them... This would be my perfect chance."

Ten minutes later, the butler reentered the throne room.

"My Lord, the Pool of Rebirth is ready." He bowed, before turning around to lead the way.

As the great being walked along the dark halls of his palace, he pulled off the pieces of his armor, and stripped himself of his undergarments. Each article of clothing never reached the floor. Instead, the burst into dark flames the moment they left his skin.

Within minutes, he had settled into the Pool of Rebirth that was placed in a smaller hall. A fountain of golden water came cascading from above, pouring over his head and shoulders, before pooling beneath him.

All of a sudden, the space in the corner of the room began to flicker. Neither the butler, nor the power being seemed surprised. They had expected one of the Gods to have taken notice of this. It was not as if they had even tried to stop it from happening. In fact, it would even be better, as the Gods might make his journey even more interesting!

A bright light flashed as space became stable in the corner. In the place of that light was a delicate looking woman with blonde hair and blue eyes. She looked very holy, and had an aura that would make you want to protect her to the very best of your abilities.

"Lady Helen. To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"Oh, please spare me the usual jargon. What do you think you are doing, Kai?" The delicate woman said with a firm tone of voice that one would not associate with her delicate look.

"What does it look like? I plan to be reborn." The horned being, Kai, raised his hands and gestured to the golden water flowing around him.

Lady Helen sighed, looking annoyed by Kai's antics, "You know what I mean. Why do you plan to get reborn? Do you want to lose everything you have built? Did all your battles against the Gods to get to where you are mean nothing?" She asked.

"Of course they mean something to me," Kai laughed, "But even still, I am so bored doing nothing that I need to find a way to entertain myself. What better way than doing it again? Especially now that a new era has dawned upon the worlds. The Era of Gods have passed. The other Gods can no longer directly interfere in the affairs of the world unless they want to bring about another Era of Gods. I want to experience it all again." Kai explained and clenched his fist, holding it in front of his face.

Lady Helen was quiet for a time. But she eventually spoke up.

"You knew I would come, didn't you?" She sighed, finally understanding.

"Of course. Now come and help me seal my abilities and memories." Kai grinned widely.

Lady Helen sighed as she pulled away her white garments, coming to settle behind Kai. There, she placed her delicate hands atop his head, before a golden light began to shine from her body as Kai opened up himself to her. On a normal day, she would have never been able to do this if he did not want her to.

"I will see you when you ascend again." Lady Helen whispered, placing a soft kiss on the back of Kai's head before his body crumbled into particles of light. Those particles of light danced through the air before passing through an open window in the castle that now lacked a master.
