Ocular Menace: Misadventures of a Man with many Eyes

Johnathan Reed had just finished celebrating his 18 birthday, when like any self-respecting novel protagonist, died to the hands of Truck-Kun. He laments in his last moments the fact he never made it past 24 hours of adulthood, and should have looked before crossing the road. Next thing he knows he's in a old medieval style house. After successfully running away from the house, and whatever problems might come from meeting people, he's in the middle of nowhere until he hears the classic *Ding* any gamer would be familiar with. The Art Is Not Mine. If you are the owner of the art and want it down. let me know and I'll oblige. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- --Do I have you interested? please do let me know of any feedback you have, as again, this is solely for my own enjoyment and to improve my literary skills. I'm the only person proofreading this, and the grammar is probably killing you, so just bear with me, because English was never my best subject Also my jokes could be unfunny, let me know. Also I will do my best for compelling characters, but again first time writing. so stuff like romance might flop and be underwhelming for people and is probably gonna be a side bit, not the main focus and later on.

Well... There's no bugs at least

After walking inside the inn, Johnathan and Ruby are greeted with a stench that would knock anyone unprepared out cold. They instantly plug there noses, and trudge over to the counter. Hoping the guy at the desk smelt better. If you looked closer, the desk had the words "Hell's Inn" etched onto it's surface, probably because they couldn't afford a sign outside.

"One room, two beds, for 2 weeks please." Ruby said while trying to sound reasonable, and not completely disgusted.

"56 copper coins, no refunds and no food will be served to you." The account said, glancing at Ruby with lecherous eyes.

Ruby gives in the one silver and receives the change, he then tosses them a key with the numbers 208 on it. After that, the two quickly dart upstairs and close their room and lock it. Johnathan decides to pry open the wooden window, and use wind magic to circulate the air in the room and makes a hole in the wall to circulate the air out. He then splashes everything with water to clean it, or at least have it cleaner than before. After the mandatory room repairs, Johnathan and Ruby sit down on separate beds, and start discussing there plan for the next 2 weeks.

"We need to advance our adventure rank by one or two in these coming weeks, and were probably going to hunt plenty of goblins, gather plenty of herbs, and do other menial chores from dawn to dusk, then advance our rank and go for bigger prey. Understand?" Ruby tell this to Johnathan while looking him dead in the eyes with a serious expression on her face.

"I understand, and like you calling yourself Scarlet, i'm John now, so please remember." He says giving her the stare down after his own comment. "Well then, let's go register." he's says while standing up and taking his bastard sword of his pocket dimension. He then opens the door.

As soon as Johnathan opens the door, he plugs his nose with his wind magic, and does the same for Scarlet as practice. After walking around for half an hour, then finally find the building there looking for he switches his eyes to the yellow color of thunder, and walks in alongside Ruby. Everyone stops for a moment, looking at the fresh meat.

Not even 10 seconds later, a grouchy looking man offers a handshake to Johnathan saying "Nice to meet you, the names Gilbert, leader of the Wolf's Bane party."

Johnathan accepts the handshake replying "Nice to meet you, names John" While he's saying this, Gilbert's grip suddenly gets stronger, and Johnathan increases his strength to the max to crush Gilbert, neither side is admitting defeat to the other. While this is happening, Ruby goes up to the counter to register for a guild license. Putting herself as a fire mage and Johnathan as a swordsman. The receptionist then hands Ruby two cards, about 1 centimetre by 50 millimetres, with a F to the left side and name and class to the right.

She then starts the mandatory speech to all new adventurers, Johnathan walks over to make sure he can hear the whole thing. "The adventures guild is an association that takes in all types of requests, and then completes them. While some are guild issued, like a goblin slaying and basic herb collection, requests like cleaning alleyways or finding lost pets are also accepted. Promotions to E and D class can be issued without a test, however starting from C class, Promotions tests are issued. They could be anything from supervised participation in an C-class quest, a battle with a C rank adventurer, ect. You can take quests one level above your class if partying with someone of the same rank. To start, you will be starting as F class adventurers. To accept a quest you must simply turn in the respective reward, if it's something like cleaning, the guild will ask a citizen if your deed was actually done or not. If you lose your guild card, you can always get another one issued for 1 silver. With that, welcome to the adventures guild."

After the run down of the guild staff, Ruby hands Johnathan's card over to him, and they leave to hunt some goblins. Johnathan felt a bit down about the fact he didn't have any of the proper equipment for the occasion, but it would have to do.

Bordeom has finally come, finishing this at like 1am for me. Gonna get gory cus of goblins, so you have been warned. Any name changing in the chapter is stuff I missed while proof reading, and hopefully I'l chatch it later
