The new Caretaker

As soon Adam felt her soft touch a current travelled in his entire body and he had this sudden urge to hold her hands and pull her closer to his own self. "Huh!? What happened Amanda?"

Adam pretended to look a bit confused, as she looked in her big blue eyes.

"I .... I think I refused your offer without thinking much. I can... I mean.. I think I can accept this deal." She pursed her lips and spoke very softly coming a bit close to him, as if she was talking about something very secretive.

"You do? Oh wow! That is lovely." Adam held out his hand, offering the girl the cheque he was just about to tore off.

Amanda's heart was beating rapidly but she knew this was probably the only chance to pay off her loans and to avoid herself from sleeping on the foot path. With trembling hands, she held the cheque in her hands and looked at it.

The girl was so excited and nervous at the same time that she failed to notice that her name was already written on it, much before she had revealed her name to Adam.

"I hope you... you don't make me regret the decision." The girl turned to look at Adam, whose happiness knew no bounds. He was sitting calmly, giving a light smile, trying his best to conceal her happiness.

"Of course not. Just do your work efficiently, and be my help. You will not regret it at all." Adam spoke in an authoritative and formal tone.

"So do I quit the bar job right now?" Amanda was yet unable to believe that she had actually recieved such an amazing offer out of the blue.

"Yes. You can join the work, as soon as you want to shift from your current residence. My driver can come and pick you up and help you in shifting too." The man smiled looking at Amanda's infectious smile.

"Oh wow!" Amanda looked at the man in much excitement and then securely placed the cheque in her pocket.

Adam's gaze fell upon Amanda's outfit, suddenly reminding him of something else too. "And one more thing." He again took out his cheque book, writing something on it. "These are 5000 extra, please go and buy yourself some smart clothes. It is not that, I don't like you dressed up like this but, since you have to manage my clients and meetings you will need to dress up nicely everyday. It is part of your job to look presentable."

Amanda looked at the cheque he held out in much hesitation. "But... how can I spend so much money on clothes? I am sorry, I cannot take this." Amanda nodded her head in disapprovsal, not having the heart to spend a whoopong amount equal to three year's school fees on clothes.

Adam already knew the girl would not spend a single penny on clothes, and he would have to convince her hard. "But, don't you wear a uniform to the bar? In the same way, this is like your uniform. If you have to work in that house, you need new clothes, cosmetics and shoes. Please take it." He held Amanda's hand and placed the cheque on her hand, keeping the cheque book in his pocket.

Amanda kept looking at the amount, not able to believe what was happening to her. "So.. then I start the work in three days?"

"Three days?" Adam sighed in much sadness. He wanted to carry Amanda right now with him, to his mansion and never let her return but he knew it will only freak her out. "Oh yes, so you are leaving college in three days. Of course, you need time to shop and pack your stuff too. I shall see you in three days then and will send the driver." Adam quickly got up, looking at the time. He placed the currency notes as the payement for the drink and held out his hand towards Amanda. "Welcome to my world."

"Thank you sir." Amanda smiled graciousely and placed her hand on his hand, shaking it lightly.

Adam constantly kept gawking at the beautiful girl and with a heavy heart finally left the bar after bidding her a goodbye. "Three more days, until you come to me."
