3 Lonely girl

Year- 1920

The rain drops slid down the glass wall, of the gigantic victorian building, standing tall in the corner of the town. It was one of the only few large buildings of the city, with a few members living in it. This was once the most prestigious institutes of the entire nation, but had soon started to lose its popularity.

Hellwood city, was one of the most secluded city of its times, which hardly had much population currently. Owing to several rumours about the city, not many people preferred to stay here. Even the ones living earlier had now left the city, due to several reasons.

Apart from few houses, and a tiny market area the city did not have much to see. But, it is said that where people do not live, wonders of nature lived there. The city was surrounded by mysterious several woods, hills and a large and powerful river and hence its name, Hellwood....

The large Victorian building standing tall was in fact one of the old women's hostel, attached to the only educational institution present in the city. Not many kids studied here, apart from the old influential kids of families, living here for a very long time.

She was the only one who was different. At the age of one, her parents passed away and at the age of four her foster parents admitted her in this school, and never came back for her. Ever since then, she had been working part- time for the hostel and as well doing other odd jobs to sustain herself and pay the education fees.

She was sitting on the edge of the wall, looking down towards the beautiful garden, as it was looking strikingly beautiful in rain. She was sipping a cup of hot coffee, while enjoying the light water droplets falling on fresh grass.

This is how Amanda always enjoyed while sitting alone looking at the flowers around her. Her gaze fell upon a group of girls happily playing in the rain, wearing there expensive gowns. Of course unlike Amanda, they all could afford to spoil there dresses. They had rich parents and never had to earn their breads or stitch there own clothes. They could afford to live in the most luxurious room of the hostel, and also eat good food.

Amanda was the only one who was poor and thus was always ignored by others. She blinked several times as a few rain drops fell on her from in between the leaking ceiling of her room's balcony.

She smiled a bit and looked up, blinking several times with her big blue eyes. The leaking rain drops fell on her sharp nose and her rosy cheeks. The girl indeed looked exactly like her mother. Same dark hair, blue eyes, pale skin and round lips..... an epitome of simplicity and beauty.

She was dressed in a loose fitted blue colored dress, which she had designed herself. Her hair were tied in a messy bun, and her thick glasses gave her a little nerdy look. She was indeed a nerd though!

Her first love has always been books and she had always dreamt of owning a large library one day all for her own self....

But right now it seemed like an impossible dream to her. She could barely earn enough working for the bar and the hostel so that she could afford to pay fees for her literature course. At mere age of 23, the girl had already seen enough hardships.
