Bully

Amanda  could hear several girl chirping and giggling next to the door and she did not want to tell that she was now a caretaker of a house. She knew, she would become the centre of there jokes again. "Oh, I had written an article on the city and sent it by post to the publishing house. They approved of my articles and will also pay handsomely to me for  further writings."

"Oh that is lovely my dear! I always knew you were so talented and will get a nice job. Good girl." The old lady happily accepted the money, counting them with her hands.

All the girls over hearing the conversation, gasped in shock. Amanda pursed her lips, as several thoughts swirled in her head. She was scared as for the first time, she had ever lied to the hostel in charge.

"That is perfect. All the dues are cleared." The old lady opened a drawer and placed the currency notes inside it, placing the key back on a chain around her neck. She then stamped a receipt handing it over to Amanda . "All done Amanda . You are leaving the hostel in three days and I wish you all the best for your new job and life ahead."

"Thank you so much Miss." Amanda  smiled gratefully and bowed a little in reverence. She then took the stamped receipt and placed it in her robe heading out of the room happily.

The felt like she had been enslaved for several years and suddenly her knight in shining armour had arrived to set her free. She had never in her life felt so rich and liberated.

Soon she walked out of the room and crossed a bunch of girls talking and gossiping about her.

"Look here comes the poor girl." Spoke a girl loudly.

"I wonder, who gave her the job?" Giggled another girl in a sarcastic tone.

"Hmm... And I wonder what kind of job it is, that pays so much in advance." The third girl spoke up, and they all started to laugh out loudly.

Amanda  as always ignored them all and headed straight towards the living room of the hostel. In the haste to run away, she did not even check who was sitting in the lobby area, when suddenly her robe was pulled by somebody from behind her.

"Arghhh..." Amanda  was almost about to trip as she turned to see, Lilly, hostel's biggest bully standing behind her.

Lilly was from one of the most influential and politically strong families of the town and she always tried to belittle everybody, if they did not boot- lick her. She pulled the robe harder, making it to tear off a bit.

"Leave me Lilly!" Amanda  looked at the girl in much resentment and disgust.

"Where are you coming from, dressing up like this?" Lilly smirked as she pulled open Amanda 's robe a bit more.

Two other girls stood up, looking at Amanda  and Lilly, while the bunch of girls following Amanda  too had now entered the living room.

"It is none of your business." Amanda  jerked away her robe and straightened it up instantly.

"Oh really!? So the girl has suddenly gathered guts to talk to me rudely." Lilly smirked and yet again caught hold of her robe.

Everybody else gathered around them was laughing, while Lilly tried to tear off the robe again. Amanda  had caught hold of the rest of the paper notes and key carefully, as she knew if Lilly found out the money, she will make more scene out of it.

"Hehe! Tear it off Lilly." A girl hooted and clapped.
