Chapter 11

The next day, Jaycee was sitting alone amongst the crowd in the canteen. No one dared to sit in front or beside him. Students instantly have this odd shivers crawling down their skin if they tried to approach him. Almost everytime, they can't help but avoid him as he looked impassively frightening when in fact, he was just naturally born like that.

'This deep fried pork cutlet is tasty. Not bad.'

He was gnawing a piece of the of the pork cutlet collectedly. It was an appetizing lunch for him. The food satisfied his taste. Addition to that, the presence of an annoying existence was nowhere to be found.

'I wonder what they will serve for tomorrow.'

It was supposed to be a fine lunch for him. No distractions and interruptions. It's just him and the meal he was eating. He wasn't aware of himself yet but he was a total foodaholic. Now that he was halfway through his meal, an odd feeling briefly stopped him from eating.

Jaycee sighed and mumbled, "He's coming."

Yes, just like what he predicted, Denver came rushing into the canteen with a joyous look on his face. He looked around and was desperately trying to look for him.

Right after Denver spotted him, "Mr. Jaycee Kim, why are you eating alone!?" he brusquely sat in front of him and bizarrely smiled.

'It's because I don't want to hang out with you.'

"What do you want?" Jaycee derisively said.

"My dear friend, are you finally decided on whether to accept that quest?"

Denver gradually showed the fork he was secretly hiding. He kept on eyeing on Jaycee's food as if he was drooling and starved for a week. Of course, the sharp Jaycee noticed this however, he didn't do anything; not yet.

"I'll probably decline that one."

Denver's five senses were fully occupied with Jaycee's food and didn't hear a bit what he just said. He still had his eyes on his food and gradually reached out his fork onto his plate as he said, "What? I didn't hear you. Can you repeat what you just said?"

"I said take that fork away or I'll stab your eyes with it."

Denver instantly halted.

"So I got caught, huh."

"Did you even try to hide it? You are plainly obvious."

Jaycee hopeless sighed.

"I should have never expected that much from you. I totally forgot for a moment that you're stupid, annoyingly stupid."

Denver acted coy and begged, "Right? I'm stupid right? Then, can you give me just one bite? I'm really starving. Please, just one bite."

Denver's eyes were pathetically sparkling as he begged.

Jaycee let out a heavy sigh and prepared himself for a long speech.

"Where's your self-dignity? Did you lost it or perhaps forgot to bring it? How can you naturally beg for food like that? Are you a beggar? Are you a scrounger? Is begging the only thing you excel at? You are much worse than a stray dog. Moreover, do you think I am running a charity or something? Should I create a foundation specially just for you? Is it now my responsibility to feed you? Why? Are you planning to become my son now? Am I going to be your father? How can the son of Choi Biomedical act like this? Where's the cash you had a week ago? I estimated and it was roughly around five million won. Where did you use all the money? Did you feed the poor? Did you make it rain cash?"

That was indeed a long speech of both direct and indirect criticisms.

Denver just swallowed as he zipped his mouth. Every words Jaycee threw at him surprisingly stabbed him directly in the heart. He might want to evade but all of it was auto aimed at him. There's a zero percent of dodging it.

Denver evaded Jaycee's eyes and mumbled, "It's because I bought something that I desperately wanted to have."

"Ah, is that so?"

Jaycee smiled with his eyes frighteningly.

"So that's where you spent all the money. What was it again? Ah, right! It's the limited edition One Piece – Portrait of the Pirates character figurines, if I am not mistaken. I now remembered you were openly bragging it on SNS. You looked extremely happy based on the pictures you posted. Now, why don't you eat that limited figurine of yours? You should at least fill your stomach with that, wrong? You paid 'a lot' for it after all."

It was a one-sided battle favored to Jaycee. It wasn't even a proper battle to begin with. Denver was totally defenseless. He miserably lost without even putting a decent fight. He dispiritedly bowed his head and let out a deep sigh.

"Sorry."

"Get lost." Jaycee was immovable as he straightly emphasized.

Denver swallowed his pride and looked at Jaycee.

"You are right. It was my fault. I shouldn't have bought those stuffs. Right now, I'm pretty much a beggar. I never expected that my father would freeze all my cards. Without cash, I don't think I can last before I lay hand on my next allowance. No, I don't even think I can last until tomorrow."

Denver looked extremely desperate. Of course, for the warm-hearted (?) Jaycee, as he can't stand him acting like that anymore, ended up yielding to him.

He sighed and said, "Okay. I'll take care of your food."

Denver brightened up and impulsively yelled, "Really?!"

"Of course …"

Jaycee paused with odd smile on his face. After seeing his smile, Denver immediately had a bad feeling about what will happen next. Jaycee rummaged through his bag and pulled out a piece of blank sheet of paper and a pen.

He placed the paper and pen on top of the table and pushed it towards Denver's direction.

"Let's sign an IOU."

"Eh?"

Denver was overall speechless.

"I don't run a charity here, Mr. Denver Choi. If 'you' want me to feed you, then signing an IOU isn't that much of a problem right?"

'Fuck. I admit he's correct.'

In the end, Denver sold his soul and signed a contract with the demon lord, with the contents only they knew themselves.

Jaycee then instantly brought him a new tray of food and as he came back, he was oddly smiling with his eyes.

"Here, I ordered another portion. Eat to your heart's content, my dear slave. If you need more, don't hesitate to tell me."

'He's a terrifying person.' ( Lol, now he just found out. Poor Denver. )

Denver somehow filled his stomach though it wasn't pleasant just like he initially thought. He was chewing the meat with tears sliding down his face.

'Why does this meat taste so bland? Is it just me? Damn.'

He briefly looked at Jaycee who was smilingly watching him eat.

'Fuck this guy.'

While Denver was eating in such uncomfortability, Jaycee's face straightened all of a sudden.

"How about you, are you going to accept that odd quest?"

"I don't think so." He swallowed what he was eating.

"Right? Based just from that baron's level alone, I don't think it's a quest we can handle."

Denver nodded in agreement.

"I agree."

Jaycee brought out his phone and blankly browsed over it as he mumbled, "That brute's level is in the seventies. If he, himself can't even kill that guild master with his own hands, then this guild master must be insanely strong. Who stupid enough would accept such a sure fail quest?"

Jaycee was browsing in the Phantasy Realm community discussion online. The topic was all about that sudden quest they received last night and everyone who was participating in the heated discussion were all the players present at that time.

"The players seems to be thinking that this quest leads to a hidden skill or a hidden class, what do you think slave?"

Denver was pretty much starved the whole day and still was eating in lavish.

"I don't know. If it's indeed a hidden class or a skill quest then I wish them good luck. No one even reaches the twenties yet. How can they accept such quest?"

"Yea, you're right. Someone who'll accept this quest must be stupid." Jaycee mumbled.

That night, Denver once again visited Jaycee's house. They logged in the game around 9 PM and spawned somewhere around town where they lastly logged out. The quest verifying their participation popped out immediately after they logged in.

[ Would you like to accept the quest? ]

The verification wasn't voice command. If they wanted to decline or accept the quest, they need to press whether the accept or decline button. Jaycee was pretty much decided to reject this quest. There's even nothing to think about it. It was an insanely high-leveled quest only stupid people would accept despite the level differences. Jaycee was already pointing towards the decline button and was decidingly on his way to press it. However, an unexpected incident happened.

Bummp!

A player surprisingly bumped his shoulder.

"I'm sorry." That player instantly apologized and went his way.

It's an accident so Jaycee paid no heed to it and just let it off. As he turned around and went back to where he left out, he out of the blue froze in his spot and strangely went silent.

Denver noticed his sudden silence and nonchalantly asked, "What's the matter Jaycee? Is there something wrong?"

Jaycee blankly stared at him. Denver somehow felt something off about him and after a couple of seconds; a weird thought gradually came across his mind. He instantly had a bad feeling about his sudden silence.

Denver's eyes trembled as he stuttered, "Wait … Jaycee, don't tell me …"

"Fuck."
