Story 04: Diab and Al Jazia

It is said that in the old days there was a king married to three wives. Unfortunately for him, these women were not able to bear children.

The king turned to a wise man to guide him to a solution by virtue of his experience and wisdom,So the wise advised him to search for crumbs that he finds collected in the waste of cows on a rainy day.

The king set out on his search for a wife who would give birth to him children, every rainy day, he went out to many villages, near or far, he was looking with patience.

Once, as he was passing by a village near his palace, then it was raining hard, and if he heard the voice of a girl saying, "Leave it for me, leave it for me."

He walked quietly to find a girl gathering in the cow waste and the rain had wet her, she looked very stupid and not pretty.

But the king realized that she was the girl he was looking for, and she would be the one who would have children for him.

He asked her about her family's house, and she pointed to a nearby house that was dilapidated.

The king went to that house and knocked on the door, so her father came out and welcomed him to the simple people, entered and host him in his house.

Without hesitation, the king asked the man to marry him to his daughter, and the man accepted.

The king married that girl, and after a few months, the girl became pregnant,The king was very happy, so prepare a great feast for the inhabitants of the kingdom.

One day, the king went with his convoy to visit his brother in a somewhat distant kingdom, and took his family and a group of soldiers with him.

Darkness fell on them in the middle of the road, so they decided to spend the night near the forest,the convoy ate its dinner, and everyone went to his tent, and the soldiers went to guard.

Early in the morning the woman wanted to relieve herself, so she went to the forest, but when she came back, she found that the caravan had gone and left her behind.

She remained near the road, waiting, not knowing what to do. Fortunately for her, the king noticed the absence of his fourth wife, so he asked about her, and one of the soldiers told him that he had seen her the last time she was heading into the forest.

On the return of the king to bring his wife, the poor wife was born inside the forest, surrounded by wolves on all sides, no wolf could get close to the child.

Suddenly the wolves ran away from a sound that came from the king, who arrived at the right time, and was very happy to see his son, so he called him Diab (the name means wolves), because he was surrounded by wolves.

Diab grew up inside the kingdom, and from time to time his father sent him to the desert to learn wisdom.

Once, Diab was absent from his father for a long time, and upon his return he met his mother on the way, kissed her and hugged her, then asked her where she was going.

She told him that the king had given his wives and the kingdom people a mystery and they had to find the solution, and she was heading to her family to ask for help in solving the mystery.

The riddle was "Who is stronger, what is sweetest, and what is bitterest?"

Diab answered :" the strongest is god, the sweetest it's god's words, and the bitterest is the death ".

The mother joyfully returned to her husband, and her son followed her a little late, she told the king the answer and he was surprised, and suddenly realised that his son came to the kingdom, he flew from happiness.

The king welcomed his son and held a big feast for him as usual, then decided to marry him to the most beautiful girl in the kingdom.

Diab had a cousin, Al-Jazia, one of the most beautiful and wisest women in the world, and she had long hair that could cover her entire body.

In those days, many knights and princes proposed to her, among them were Diab.

Al-Jazia decided to run a competition for them, so she hung her anklet in a tall tree and asked the knights to tie the anklet in his hand, so she would marry him.

The Knights tried with all their strength and intelligence, but to no avail.

Among the rising dust, Diab, riding his horse, struck the Khalkhan with a sword and held it in his hand, then said:

" we couldn't reach it with our hands so we reached it with our swords ".

Al-Jazia smiled and said: "Do you want the anklets or the owner of the anklets?"

Diab smiled back and said :" both ! "

Diab married the Jazia, but they could not understand each other. They are both clever and wise and love to show their intelligence and cunning.

Once, his father, the king, held a feast, and Diab and Al-Jaziah served food for the guests, and due to their misfortune, there was no food left for them to eat.

Thiab grabbed a bone and licked it, while Al-Jazia grabbed the powl and started picking up leftovers.

Diab said : " hush hush, she could't get full of food, so she grabbed the bowl ".

Al-Jazia replied: " he couldn't get full of meat, so he licked the bones ".

Diab got angry because she always replies him, so he decided to leave her alone.
