Chapter*Five

I sat up from her bed and patted C.G's head as he fluttered his eyes closed."I should eat something before I die of starvation." I said to myself before getting off my bed.

I make my way downstairs to find my family already eating dinner. I sit myself down with my family and say nothing and proceed to make my plate of food.

I could feel her mother's cold eyes glaring at me from aside.

"So, how was everyone's first day?" My mom asked making eye contact with everyone at the table.

"Today was great I got a free raisin cookie from my p.e teacher!" Devanie said with bits of food flying out of her mouth while she spoke.

Devanie gives me a smile like she won something."That's disgusting don't you have any manners?" I say matter-of-factly.

Mom looks down at her plate and shakes her head in disappointment. "Well, that's great Devanie, Kani anything from you?" She asks me while looking at me dead in my eyes.

"Well, I got invited to a party today." I say as I look at my mother worriedly.

She raises her eyebrows like I told her I was pregnant or something." A party? On the fist week of school?"

"Yeah..so...can I go?"

"Absolutely not!"

I clench my fork and get up from the table and bring my plate to the counter. I stomp up the stairs like I had cement on my feet carrying me down as I took each step.

I flop on my bed angrily making our dog C.G jump and run out the room

She said no?

How could she say no?

I have done nothing but be a grateful child to that woman!

So much for trying to open up.

I pick up my phone and call Aaron.

"Hey Aaron.."

"Wazup kani, so what did she say?"

"She said no"

"WHAT!"
