3 Flying

(~Zoya's POV~)

I flinched when the tree hit the ground right next to me because I wasn't prepared for how my overly sensitive ears would react to the sound. It felt like someone firing a pistol only centimeters away from your ear.

"But I am alright now so no need to destroy the forest" After I said that she seemed to calm down. "It would be better if I could fly to prevent something like that to happen again. I can't even feel my wings" I said.

"If it's only that" Skyshot turned in my direction and shot a spine directly between my wings. My body reacted immediately, and my wings spread open. "Was that the only way?" She giggled at my annoyed look. "No, but the fastest and funniest. "

My only reaction to that was a mental facepalm, but after struggling for a while I managed to get a feeling for having wings and I even managed to gain control over my tail fins. Skyshot looked at me like a mother waiting for her child to come to the dining room after calling the 20th time.

The moment she deemed me ready, she flew right above me and carefully grabbed me and lifted me up. "What are you doing?" I screamed at her, but she commanded me to spread my wings fully at her command.

As we reached what seemed to me like 400 meters above the ground, she signaled for me to spread my wings. Then she let go of me. "Spread your tail fins!" She ordered me while flying to my left. I was now gliding like a glider.

"First lesson: try carefully to flap your wings start with only little movement before flapping stronger" The first time I moved my wings I nearly lost control but after the second try I managed to gain height.

A thought went through my mind, "Apart from the flapping, this really seems like flying a fighter jet in a game. So maybe if I just do what a jet would do but with my wings and fin tails maybe that would work."

So no risk no fun, I pushed down the "imaginary nose of my jet" and flew to the ground only to flaw my wings and pull back up while flying a left turn. It worked surprisingly well.

"Coming back to you?" Sky shot grinned and started to fly to whatever she wanted to show me. She landed before me and turned around to watch my landing. And again, I just imitated a fighter jet. I landed with both wings fully open and then carefully pulled up before landing gracefully.

"Strange way of landing you have there" she commented. I can't tell her that I just imagined that I was a flying piece of metal. "So, what was it that you wanted to show me?"

With her head, she gestured to a lake a few meters away from us. "The best fish you will ever taste in your life" she said with an expression that I think one could count as a grin.

I slowly was getting better at reading dragon's facial expressions. The moment Skyshot finished her sentence, our stomachs growled at the same time. After laughing our butts off for half a minute, we walked to the lake.

Skyshot stared at the water a few seconds before throwing herself in the lake, only to get out of it with two fish between her fangs. I looked down at the water, I had absolutely no idea how to do this, but somehow I managed to catch a fish. I gulped it down and... "Why does this taste this good!??!?" I said while rolling around on my back.

"I told you these were the best" Skyshot laughed, only for the fish that she catched to slip back into the lake. ""I can't tell her that it was the taste of raw fish I was so surprised about""

I caught a few more fish, which were too much for me to eat them at once, so I dropped them on the ground. "Whaaaaaa!" Skyshot screamed as she hooped a few meters back. "What?" I stared at her.

"There's an eel" She growled as she saw it. I extended my claws and lifted the eel to my mouth, only to eat it like spaghetti. I chewed on it before gulping it down. It had a different flavor compared to the other fish. It somehow reminded me of grilling cheese.

"Did you just... How could.... Why not.... What?" she looked at me in utterly shock, confusion and a few other emotions I couldn't recognize. "Tasted a little bit like rubber" was the only thing I said to her before directing all my attention back to the fish before me.

That crazy Nigh fury just ate an eel like it was her morning snack, not even flinching at the sight of it. ""This girl is everything but normal"". My thoughts went back when I first met her. ""Is it even possible for one to forget how to fly?"" ""Well, I don't know..."
