5 The beginning [Part-5]

"School's horrible. Do I have to go again?"-Veronica

The frown on her face didn't disappear even when she saw Kakashi was mildly amused by this.

"What happened?"-Kakashi

Looking at girl in front of him, he didn't know what to think of her little outburst. He was a bit worried about how her throat was going to hold up at that and got some water in a glass, ready for whenever she decided to take a break from speaking. But at the same time, she looked like a pouting puppy to him right now.

The pain in her throat was obviously killing her but it seemed that she was letting out frustrating but still not telling the truth to him. Although he will never know what truth she was hiding.

"They're just teaching useless stuff to kids. With the curriculum right now, only the people who have ninja as their parents or are clan kids will have a chance of passing, no one else will pass unless they find someone to teach them the basics... Plus, the situation between the villages isn't any good and who knows what will happen if they decide to take action. It's all completely ridiculous!

Also, what do parents even teach kids?! How to throw kunai?!!! What about basic human tendencies...? What about teaching kids to be a human first...?

This is all useless. I just wish that-"-Veronica

'I could go home...'

She didn't know why she said all that she did.

Coughing a bit of blood, she gratefully took the water handed to her.

Immediately after her outburst, she felt the regret settle in. How could she be so stupid to tell all of this to an ANBU? For all she knew, this could even be called treasonous.

"Ah... So that's the problem..."-Kakashi

He didn't know what to do in this situation. On missions, if he ever encountered kids, they would either be babies, or ten year old kids that he would just knock out. He also knew for a fact that kids her age shouldn't be thinking about this all. They wouldn't even have the capacity to think of all this. He was very suspicious of her.

No, every single ninja that knew of her, knew that she was the 'same' as them yet also, 'different' than them. Her eyes had that feeling of someone who'd seen their family get torn apart. They were not of a warrior or a soldier but there was always a slight determination in them.

Perhaps that was why he couldn't help but feel as though he was looking at a slightly better version of his own kid self.

He had known how she had read the academy books in the time she was healing. She had even started to practice academy taijutsu and other techniques. He knew that sometimes children were born geniuses but... it seemed as though she wasn't a genius. She was one of the children who were forced to grow up. Forced to have their brains be matured to the point they were driving themselves crazy.

He just nodded and patted her back in an attempt to comfort her. He didn't know what exactly happened to her. Yet he knew that, she had already been let in his heart.

*Even the devils, witches, ghosts and monsters are afraid of fake human beings. Yet people seem to find comfort in them.*

'I almost let out all that frustration. Kakashi can't even do anything as he is now. That damned Hokage. He doesn't even have the children learn chakra control exercises. No wonder in Boruto's time, it turned even worse.

How the hell does he want his village to get strong? Does he only depend on clan's and their power?! Idiot. The clans already control so much of the village. Does he want them to replace the Hokage? And what's with the civilian council? This is a shinobi village for gods sake! At best, one person should be selected to represent the civilians so there problems could be solved.

Not ruling the village properly could lead to a freaking coup. Just like with the Uchiha except, even worse! No wonder Danzo can get away with literally anything. He already has his own army of ROOT. Like, people didn't notice children disappearing in the village? I bet that the Uchiha police was already suspecting him by now. I've only seen them once and I can tell that the second Hokage did a great job by giving them the police force, but he should've given them more power than that.

And all of the policies affecting the Uchiha negatively had been given out in the third's time not the second Hokage's reign. Even though the second Hokage didn't like the Uchiha he treated them with respect and like every other important clan.

And let me guess, since the police were investigating Danzo, he had to do something or the other to get rid of suspicion. And so, using the Kyuubi attack that had tarnished the Uchiha's reputation, he-

Ugh. I'm letting my thoughts drift again. But one thing is sure, this village is hardly stable. One of the many reasons out there to never become a leader. There's too much drama in politics.

I can't even train myself. So I'll have to depend on Kakashi on that part. I can't get much stronger right now. Only after making it up to Genin. If Danzo, or even Orochimaru, found me interesting then I'll be done for.

Maybe I should also help Naruto... I doubt I'll be able to live with myself with just leaving him in his current situation. Since he's an Uzumaki, he should be able to make splendid seals if someone taught him that.

Hmmm, if I befriend Naruto, I'll either become canon fodder or have plot armor with me... Well, I doubt I won't die if I don't have some kind of power to protect me since, all things considered I probably have the worst luck of them all.'

--- --- --- --- ---

[A/n: A little flashback.]

'This will be my first time going to school. Hopefully it goes well.

Also, I'll have to stay away from those fan girls. What's so good about Sasuke anyways? I will admit he has good looks. But is that all little girls think of? Good looks? That's it?

None of them even bothered to think how he must have been feeling when his clan died? None of them bothered to even stop and think about that? Do they think he's perfect? Do they think his life is perfect or something? Or is it that they think that, "He's from a well known clan, so I'll just marry him." I get that females aren't exactly raised the same way as the males here, or anywhere I've been to, but it could've been a lot better had they actually been taught properly as well.

Or is it that the mangaka portrayed them as that? What am I even thinking about? He only wrote down what was required by the story. Nothing more and nothing less. I'll have to discover for myself whether it's really like that.'

Walking in the class, she was introduced by Iruka. She spotted a lot of the rookie 9, just by sparing a glance at the whole classroom. Not many people had been as colorful as they were.

She also noticed that although some girls stole glances at Sasuke, they weren't as wild as in the anime.

'Should I sit with Hinata? Naruto looks pretty lonely... But I'm going to get so much attention if I sit with him. Ugh, what should I do?!'

In the end, she sat down with Naruto, who seemed surprised by her actions. She just smiled lightly and focused on the lesson, taking a lot of notes since their teacher tended to get off topic and relay information that others deemed useless but was actually very useful.

"Naruto! Focus in class!!!"-Iruka

He glared a bit at Naruto but his fondness for the child was clearly seen in his eyes.

Class soon ended, and Veronica passed Naruto a piece of paper.

<Hey! Wanna be friends?!>

"Of course, dattebayo!"-Naruto

It may have been a weird combination, a person who doesn't speak at all and a person who can not stop speaking. But they both enjoyed each other's company.

"Why would you be friends with a monster?!"-Useless person 1

"YEA!!! You should stay away from scum like him!"-Useless person 2

"Yes child, come play with these kids here."-Useless adult

"No thanks."-Veronica

"Are you crazy?! You must be a monster like him then!"-Random useless person

Naruto looked at Veronica sadly as she just ignored all the whispers and shouts and continued to guide him out of the school. He could see Iruka from the corner of his eyes, going up to the students to scold them for their behavior but he was more concerned about Veronica.

<What's wrong?>

She looked at him, something akin to worry flashing in her eyes. He didn't know what to think about that.

<Are you bothered by what they said to you? Well don't mind them, they're idiots.

*When they call you crazy, remember that genius ideas don't come from average minds.*>

Something seemed to spark within him reading that.
