Teasing

Fu Mei Li spent the rest of her afternoon resting in her room. She even ate her dinner by her bed since Shufen didn't allow her to go out.

He was thoughtful enough to accompany her while eating, though.

"Thank you, Shufen." Mei Li voiced her appreciation.

"Hmmph, if you're really thankful, you should call me big brother."

Wow, was he still hung up on that? Mei Li decided to ignore him.

When dinner was done, Shufen took out her plates and utensils without being prompted. He then brought back a basin of warm water and a towel.

He proceeded to carefully wipe her face, neck, and hands. And then he tucked her into bed.

He even picked up the used plant ash cloth she hid in one corner of her room after she changed to a new one. She planned to wash that the next day when she was feeling better.

When Shufen took the thing out, Mei Li was really embarrassed. But he didn't say anything so she kept quiet as well. Was this the ancient times' equivalent of a modern-day hubby picking up their girlfriend's sanitary pads from the store?

Mei Li had to hand it to Shufen. This guy always teased her most of the time, but he can also be relied upon when it counts.

Not long after, Shufen came back to the room. He once again gave her an abdominal massage using a warm porcelain bottle and then with his warm hands.

He even made her lie on her back and massaged her stiff lower back and shoulders.

Mei Li felt more and more comfortable and she went to sleep again.

Shufen laid beside her that night and didn't disturb her. He didn't sleep much as he was checking her constantly to see if he was experiencing any more pain.

He kept the light on until morning so he could see the little woman's expression. When Mei Li so much as frowned in discomfort, he would give her a back rub or massage her abdominal area.

As a result, Mei Li had a good sleep.

When she woke up the next morning, Shufen, who did not get enough rest last night, was still sound asleep beside her.

Mei Li took a good look at her fourth husband. Shufen was definitely a beautiful man. His features were well defined, yet somehow soft and alluring.

Having this stunning face so close to her when she woke up made Mei Li feel that the day was going to be cheerful.

Shufen probably felt her staring at him. His sexy, long lashes fluttered open and his sleepy gaze landed on her.

Evildoer! Seductive rogue! Mei Li screamed in her heart. The man was too attractive, alright?

Shufen smiled knowingly at her dazed look.

Damn it! Mei Li cursed herself again for her weakness for handsome faces.

"Good morning," Shufen murmured in his raspy sleep-laced voice.

Shufen, will you please stop your seductive attacks so early in the morning? Mei Li pleaded silently.

Embarrassed at her thoughts going haywire, she did her best to smile at him. "Morning."

Shufen reached out to her and brought the surprised Mei Li to his embrace. Ah, this woman was too skinny at the moment. He really needs to figure out the right treatment plan to improve the little girl's health.

"What are you doing?" Mei Li squirmed. For some reason, she didn't feel too uncomfortable when the three elder Jin brothers got close to her.

However, her instincts tell her to keep Shufen at a distance. She always felt like she was being played with or hoodwinked somehow. She couldn't explain it; she just felt that way.

Shufen was not happy at her resistance. "Stop moving, Xiaomei. I know you're inconvenient now, so I'm merely taking some interest. You can properly thank me later." And then he actually slowly winked at her.

"You…!" Ahh, where did her gentle and reliable Shufen go? Take this rogue fox man away!

Mei Li wasn't one to take a loss lying down, however. Was he teasing her? Well, she knows how to tease back!

Mei Li put on the most seductive smile she could muster and moved closer to him. She then roved her hand from his throat down his chest, touching some skin that was peeking through his robe, which was in a bit of disarray from sleep.

"I can still thank you now, you know." Her wandering hand continued exploring down until she almost reached his little Shufen.

When Mei Li felt the man's stomach tightening and his breath hitching, she suddenly kicked him off the bed!

The bed was low and her force wasn't strong, so Shufen merely fell halfway and wasn't hurt at all. Still, Mei Li achieved her goal and so she laughed hysterically.

Shufen gritted his teeth. "Little girl, you're playing with fire. See how I teach you when you're not inconvenienced anymore!"

Mei Li merely answered him with an infuriating chuckle.

Mei Li spent the rest of her day resting in her room. Her meals were delivered to her as well.

She was supposed to experiment with her tea blends today. But she was still having minor cramps and pain, and movement was truly too inconvenient with the plant ash cloth she was wearing.

Her trip to the town was also postponed until further notice.

Mei Li could only obediently rest in her room.

The brothers visited her at different times during the day. Weimin ate with her during lunchtime. Shufen went in and out of her room throughout the day to give her pain-relieving medicine and massages.

Mingyu and Haoran checked in on her at some point as well.

She was more than happy to receive their attention and care. Having a family to tend to her when she was in need truly feels different in a very good way!
