What's Wrong with my Character?!

Kieran decided to just keep it classy and use his name.

Surprisingly enough, the name was accepted. For a game with a player base of currently 500 million, it was odd for his name to not be take already. Then again, the game has only been released for a little over three days. Kieran shrugged it off and continued towards character customization.

Of course, Kieran chose to keep his current appearance. He'd rather not risk altering his character and end up messing things up.

Kieran chose the Archer class and the white space around him slowly receded and the voice of the system rang out.

Kieran opened his eyes only to find himself in the air and rapidly falling. He flailed his limbs in panic.

"Seriously, I just spawned! Am I really gonna die?"

Contrary to his belief, when he finally hit the "ground." What Kieran was met with was a soft and large mushroom. Kieran bounced three time before stabilizing and laying still on the mushroom, breathing harshly and feeling a sense of relief that he didn't die upon spawning. He stood up and observed his surroundings. He was in a dense forest filled with the same spongy mushrooms that just saved his life.

Kieran sighed once more and called upon his status window.

"What the hell is wrong with my character? Why are my stats locked?" Kieran exclaimed to no one in particular, and as he thought there was no answer to his question.

A quest was soon issued by the system.

Kieran looked at the quest and sighed. Alfhiem Online had a random spawn spot for each player. It was no guarantee for any player to spawn in a village, heck if you were unlucky enough you could spawn in a swamp or in a mob of monsters. Each player receives a quest after spawning depending on the area that they spawned in.

Kieran pulled up the map to locate the nearest village, Felfelin, 16km away from his current location. Kieran pinched his chin while thinking how to complete this task with time to spare. Walking for three hours straight at 5km/h without rest would be the most efficient way to complete this quest. The problems would only show themselves if he encountered mobs. He nodded his head at his own plan and called upon the navigation system on his interface.

"Time to set on my first adventure!"

Kieran pulled his hand into a fist and pumped it into the air. The navigation route followed a dirt path and the journey was luckily smooth. He had already covered a kilometer of the distance in 12 minutes when he happened upon a slime two meters from his location.

Kieran gathered mana into the shape of an arrow and strung it into the bow, he released the arrow and it hit the slime.

Kieran let out a sigh and continued along the path. He was lucky that the only mob he encountered was a slime, or the situation would've been terrible.

Kieran was finally at the gates of Felfelin when he was stopped by the guards stationed there.

"Hello good sir, if you would please allow us to conduct a search?"

Both NPCs were stronger than him by a large margin at the moment. Disobeying them would only lead to his death.

The guards backed off after searching him and Kieran entered the village. Instantly, instead of being met with a happy and bustling village, a miserable aura could be felt.
