18 WHAT HE WANTS TO BE

[Ding! You gained 30 exp.]

[You earned $75.]

[Ding!]

[Congratulations! You gained $250 and 1 Lottery Ticket for completing your Mission.]

"Nice!" Terrence grinned when he saw that he had just finished his mission. He grinned.

'So, why am I still working at this point?' he asked himself when he can basically earn money by just spending it.

He was a fool for just knowing that right now. He wouldn't have to work that hard if he just knew it from the start.

What's more, his system didn't even correct the way he thought about it. It just let him become stupid.

[That's because you didn't ask me, host.]

Terrence scoffed when the robotic voice answered him.

'I didn't even ask you now, but you still responded,' he answered back.

[That's because I need to defend myself, Host.]

'It's not like you have emotions.' Terrence sarcastically answered.

[You're right, Host.]

'Talking to this system will make me age,' Terrence massaged the back of his temples after he heard the system's answer to what he said.

It was as if he was talking to a wall.

'So, what should I do next?' Terrence asked as his eyes roamed around to see if there were shops that he could visit while on the way to work.

When he saw street vendors lined up outside, Terrence gladly went to them.

[Ding! You gained 20 exp.]

[You earned $52]

[You earned $15]

[You earned $12]

Notifications kept ringing in Terrence's head as he spent money indecisively. He looked around, he was the only person buying at the vendor shops this early.

"It's just 11:30 in the morning and I already gained $79." He grinned. "What's more is that I earned $250 from the mission and $75 earlier."

Terrence calculated all on his head. "In total, that's $404. What a good way to start the day."

He looked at all the things he bought. There were clothes, random toys, and items he just found usable. Even though he was basically earning money for every purchase, he still did not want to buy just random things that no one would use.

'Hmm… so what should I do to this?' Terrence question. There was no way that he would bring all of this to work.

'How about... I just give it to some random?' His forehead creased.

He knew for sure that while on his way to work, he would meet at least 1 homeless person.

'Alright, I'll just do that.' Terrence shrugged his shoulders. He needed to go on his way to work already.

Although it was already unnecessary for him to go with his new discovery, he thought that he might as well finish what he started.

After all, his work would already end by tomorrow.

Terrence was walking for more than 5 minutes already. He could already see the grocery store from the distance and yet he still hasn't found any homeless person.

In fact, he hasn't seen anyone at all.

"This is odd," he breathed out as he thought of it.

'Are there any events today? Or is it a holiday?' His forehead creased.

He checked his phone to check the date and news, but he didn't find anything.

"Oh, well," Terrence shrugged his shoulder.

"What's with all of that, Terrence?" Edwin's eyes widened when he saw how many bags were in Terrence's hands.

Terrence awkwardly laughed. "Someone gave it to me…" he paused for a while before continuing. "He told me to donate it?"

"Why do you sound unsure?" Edwin chuckled.

Terrence just shrugged his shoulder.

"Let me help you." He walked towards Terrence and took some of the plastic bags from his hand. "Do you know who gave this to you? We should definitely give thanks to that person."

Terrence didn't answer Edwin's question.

"Oh, right, how's it going with the hiring process? It'll be my last day of work tomorrow." He made an effort to change the topic by asking another question.

When Edwin realized it, he immediately forgot his question. His eyes twinkled. "I am finally done with the hiring! Yesterday, there was this guy who applied for the job and I could immediately say that he is perfect for it."

Terrence slowly nodded. "That's a good thing."

Edwin nodded too, agreeing with Terrence.

"I told him to come today so that he could have his training and he could learn from you. After all, you made a big contribution to this store, Terrence." Edwin patted Terrence's shoulders.

"The store became more organized and properly managed when you arrived." Edwin couldn't help but commend Terrence's working skills.

If only he could ask Terrence to stay and work for him, but he knew that it would be selfish. Based on his observations, Terrence was a bright young man.

Edwin was sure that Terrence wouldn't want to become just a mere grocery store worker forever.

Terrence does not know how to react. He just smiled and nodded. "Thanks."

"How about you, Terrence? What do you want to do after your job here?" Edwin couldn't help but be curious about it.

As he could see it, Terrence had so much potential. It would be a waste if he wouldn't put it to good use.

"…"

Terrence fell into silence.

'What do I want to become?' he asked himself too.

He was unsure what to answer.

"You're unsure, aren't you?" Edwin chuckled. "I think you're a smart guy, Terrence. I can see that you're hardworking and determined too. I think everything will become possible when you wish for it." Edwin spoke his thoughts.

He realized that it was his chance to finally speak his mind after knowing Terrence for just 4 days. He couldn't deny it, but he already treats Terrence as a younger brother.

Maybe because he could see his young self in Terrence. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't blessed with the knowledge and skills to achieve what he wanted— to become a businessman of a large corporation.

Now he was stuck as a grocery store owner.

"Hmm…" Terrence wondered what he wanted to do with his life, too.

Should he seek revenge?

But, right now, he still hasn't met William or even the government.

Should he be a hero and save everyone from the virus?

But he wasn't even sure if that virus will occur in the future.

Should he just live a simple and normal life?

But that's too boring for his taste. He already did that in his previous life.

He wanted to become something he had never become of.

Something new to him.

'Oh! There is one.' A smile appeared on Terrence's lips as he realized it.

He looked at Edwin with full determination in his eyes.

"I want to become the richest person in the world."
