6 Unexpected Visit

"I get that he's been sending Abidemi letters ever since he saved Pearl. I get that this has been happening for years. I get it but this is too risky. Naaji isn't with him this time and I'm not covering for him." Shyla said as she walked down the hallway. She forcibly pushed the cart as walked beside Kanene.

"Well, you know how he is with Lady Abidemi. He doesn't really think it through." Kanene said with a sigh. Shyla huffed. "Which is why he needs Naaji."

"Why didn't he stay in the castle then?" Shyla asked as she glared at Kanene. Kanene sighed.

"Prince Akeem has his reasons and they usually come to light in the end. We just have to trust him and hope no trouble comes to Lady Abidemi because of him." Kanene said.

"Didn't he skip on the ball because people were after him?" Shyla asked while Kanane sighed. "Won't it be risky to walk around in public with Lady Abidemi? Heck, I know he could keep his face hidden but people will figure out he's the crown prince."

"Well, not many people in Valtis know what Prince Akeem looks like. Not even our Lady." Kanene said. They made it to the kitchen and Kanene picked up a tray. Shyla sighed.

"What about Uncle?" Shyla said. Kanene stilled and looked at Shyla. Shyla crossed his arms as she looked at Kanene. "You know if Uncle finds out about Abidemi. He would use her to get to Akeem."

Kanene smiled at Shyla. " Which is why the queen had placed us around her. Even then our Lady is really resourceful and she is able to defend herself."

Shyla rolled her eyes. "Kanene, our Lady's preferred magic doesn't work that way."

Kanene laughed. "I'm not talking about her magic, Shyla."

Shyla's eyebrow furrowed. "Kanene. What are you not telling me?"

Kanene was going to speak up until she noticed the head butler walking into the kitchen. The older man had stopped in front of Kanene and Shyla as they looked at him. "What's wrong? Is something the matter?" Kanene asked.

"Logan of the Blacklake is here." the older man said. Kanene and Shyla looked at each other. Then at the old butler.

"He's here. Why is he here?" Shyla asked as Kanene sighed. Kanene grabbed Shyla's arm and dragged her away. They quickly leave the kitchen. "Lady Abidemi isn't even dressed properly. Why didn't he just ask for an audience through a letter like a normal person?"

"Calm down, Shyla. We just need to get Abidemi dressed. See what Lord Logan wants and then she could go back to planning her date with Akeem tomorrow." Kanene said with a sigh. "Also we're in the kingdom of Valtis, despite our true status. We're just mere servants to Lord Logan."

Shyla groaned as she let Kanene drag her away.

" I can't wait to get home after all of this." Shyla said. Kanene laughed and nodded her head.

"Me too, Shyla. Me too." Kanene said with a sigh.

"You know, Lord Logan. You could've just sent a letter back. You had no need to come all the way over here." Abidemi said. She had her best fake smile and her eyes were closed. She was dressed in a white shirt with a dark blue ribbon and a long dark blue skirt. She was sure to keep her braided hair in a low ponytail as she drank her tea.

On the sofa in front of her was Logan. He was dressed in a black buttoned shirt with a few buttons undone. He also wore a pair of black riding pants as his dark blue eyes glared at her.

'If I knew he was going to come here today then I would've sent the letter on the day I left. Why me? ' Abidemi thought exhaustingly as she kept her fake smile on. Abidemi placed her tea back on her lap as she spoke again. "Lord Logan."

"What are you trying to pull with that letter?" Logan started out. Abidemi sighed.

"I was just informing you of my departure. Nothing more and nothing less." Abidemi said while she cocked her head. "I didn't think it would be a good idea to waste each other's time with a visit because that's all I was going to say to you."

"That's all!" Logan asked loudly. Abidemi nodded her head as she sipped her tea.

"The other option was that you weren't going to get a letter at all." Abidemi said while closing her eyes. Her smile had dropped, and she didn't notice that Logan's eyes widened at her words. "But many people told me that would be a bad idea and it would cause problems within our family."

"Does The Duke of Sealen know of this?" Logan asked her.

"Of course. I told him this morning and he allowed it. I told Daisy last night. Eden today and my stepmother. Mila doesn't know yet but she is busy with crown princess duties." Abidemi said with a shrug.

"He just allowed it?! Just like that." Logan stated.

"Well, he had always let me do what I wanted." Abidemi said with a shrug.

"And Freya said nothing against this." Logan muttered.

"Father has always handled my affairs." Abidemi said with a sigh. Logan frowned deeply. " Are you done now?"

"So you're really just leaving?" Logan asked her. Abidemi sighed. "Just like that."

"Yes I'm leaving and the only time I'm coming back is to see Daisy and Eden. Also to check on my shops." Abidemi said as she sipped her tea. Logan frowned deeply. " What is it?"

"Not Mila?" he asked her. Abidemi frowned deeply as she closed her eyes.

'Of course, he'll bring up Mila.' Abidemi thought as she let out a long sigh. "Mila and I don't have a close relationship. I'll be there for her as The Duke Of Sealen's daughter but nothing more."

"Aren't you being a bit heartless? Not saying anything to Mila at all." Logan said with a dark smirk. "I mean it's the least you could do after excluding her from your tea parties and playdates. You should at least treat her like she's your real sister."

Abidemi looked at Logan before saying. "You'll believe anything she says to you. Huh?"

Logan blinked before looking at Abidemi. "What?"

Abidemi sighed. "Nothing. It's pointless anyway. Mila and I are part of the same household. I learned not to associate myself with her or my stepmother at a very young age."Abidemi said while Logan's eyes widened. She sighed and frowned at Logan as she placed her cup on the table. He looked like he wanted to say something but she cut him off. "Now if you're done here. I have plans for tomorrow afternoon and I have to get ready."

"Plans?" Logan asked as Abidemi stood up from her seat. Abidemi nodded her head. "You have plans? With who?"

"It's really not of your concern, Lord Logan." Abidemi said while she dusted herself off. Logan stood up after her as she walked over to the door.

"Abidemi." Logan started out.

Abidemi peeked out of the door and looked at a servant. "Lord Logan is leaving now. Please see him out." she said with a smile. The servant nodded their head as Abidemi walked out of the room.

Logan walked out of the room and tried to follow her. He was stopped by a servant, which Abidemi was grateful for. She could hear him calling her name but she really wasn't in the mood to deal with him.

She never wanted to deal with him again. Abidemi turned the corner and continued to walk down the hall as she frowned deeply. She closed her eyes and tried to calm down.

There was a time he didn't glare at her that way. That he would give such a warm smile that it made her heart skip a beat. He would treat her kindly and make her feel like the happiest person in the world. Even if it was for such a small while.

' This is why I didn't want to see him.' Abidemi thought. She frowned deeply as she wiped her eyes with her sleeves. ' That bastard just makes me so mad.'

"There you are Lady Abidemi." Kanene called out, causing Abidemi to turn around to face her. Kanene frowned deeply as she walked over to her. "What did Lord Logan say to you this time?"

"He didn't fling insults at me. So no worries." Abidemi said while she wiped her eyes. " I should've put the letter off at the last minute. Why didn't I just think of that?"

"Do you think that he would let you go if you send the letter that way?" Kanene asked. Abidemi frowned deeply.

"How should I know? A few hours ago I thought he was going to throw my letter in the fire or just scoffed at it." Abidemi said with a deep frown. "I didn't think that he'd come over here and demand my intentions."

"Well, nothing is a sure thing. You always have to think up every possible option." Kanene said to Abidemi. Abidemi frowned deeply. Kanene takes Abidemi's hand and walks down the hall. " Let's get going. Shyla had already prepared your favorite treats. We could even talk about your outing tomorrow."

Abidemi automatically smiled when she remembered her old friend. His dark long hair, his charming warm smile, and his sweet warm voice. Despite wearing a red mask she could see his eyes glowing gold.

She could feel her face heat up as she gave a dreamlike smile. "I would like that very much." Kanene only smiled as she led Abidemi away.

She was unaware that Logan was watching from the outside of the house. Frowning deeply as he started to climb up on his horse. He rode away as he left Abidemi's property.
