5 Damn That Crown Prince

"I don't know why you suddenly care for Abidemi. That child has been in this household from the very beginning and you didn't pay her any mind." The Duke said while he worked. He paid no mind to Freya as she bit her lips. " The last time I checked I was the one that was handling Abidemi's finances and her affairs. All you gave the girl was Mila's hand-me-downs and nothing more."

" You act like you're any better." Freya whispered harshly. The Duke looked at Freya. "You moved her into another estate then let me and Mila live here."

"Because Mila made such a fuss and it was stressing you out." The Duke said flatly. "Also the people that I have for Abidemi are very different from the ones I have for Mila, me, and you." The Duke said. He looked back at his work.

"You mean those Elov's servants that you have for her." Freya asked in disdain. The Duke of Sealen paused before he sighed.

"I hope you know she also has Valtis people living in that estate as well. Abidemi does have Elov's blood running through her veins and she is much more comfortable with them." The Duke said while writing something down. " She even has the spirit of an Elov woman despite her Valtis's matters. She was born and raised as a person from Valtis and a person from Elov. It's not my fault she is more drawn to Elov more."

"Then maybe you should've pushed her into Valtis customs more." Freya said darkly. The Duke of Sealen rolled his eyes and then looked at Freya. "Maybe I should've handled Abidemi's finances and affairs from the very beginning. I am the wife of the household."

"You never wanted to handle Abidemi's affairs." The Duke said with a deep frown. Freya flinched as the Duke looked at his work. "Also, don't you forget? You only came into this house to give me an heir and to keep up appearances. Abidemi is none of your business."

Freya bit her lips as she clenched her dress. She closed her eyes tightly as she remembered the deal very well. She was desperate and needed a home for her and Mila. The Duke of Sealen gave her this offer and she automatically took it. She was extremely happy that she didn't have to handle the duke's daughter's affairs while only handling Mila's and Mila's alone.

The Duke of Sealen only took care of Eden and Abidemi. Yet he was never warm to them, he kept them at a professional distance as she cuddled and loved on Mila. Giving the girl everything she ever wanted, the Duke didn't pay any mind to the spending. Or the many dressmakers that were coming and going from the estate. She would often give Mila anything she ever wanted.

Their no expense is great for her little girl.

Until Mila had her eyes set on Logan of the Blacklake family. Abidemi's childhood friend, a boy who would often come to visit the young girl's building.

She should've spotted Mila's 'sickness' right there and then.

"Whatever plans you have for the Blacklake household. Cancel them." The Duke said. Freya snapped out of her thoughts as she looked at her husband.

"What?" Freya asked in shock. The Duke looked at her blankly, his ocean-blue eyes boring into her green ones.

" You were planning to marry Abidemi off to the Blacklake family without my permission." The Duke said darkly. Freya bites her lips. "Cancel the arrangement."

"How did you know?" Freya asked. The Duke looked at her.

" A reliable source. Cancel the deal." The Duke said as he glared at her. Freya swallowed and nodded her head.

"I'll have a messenger to send a letter requesting an audience right away." Freya whispered which only made The Duke sigh.

"Good. Don't ever stick your nose in affairs that don't concern you again." The Duke said to her. Freya nodded her head as she quickly left the room. She walked quickly from the study as she clenched her teeth.

'What am I going to do? What am I going to do?' Freya thought as she closed her eyes tightly. She bit her lips as she held onto her dress. Freya swallowed. 'I have to do something. I just have to.'

----------

"Send this to the Blacklake estate right away and make sure you give it to Lord Logan." Abidemi said to a young man. He nodded his head as left Abidemi's study which made the girl smile. She relaxed into her chair as she looked at the ceiling before frowning. "Well, I send the letter whether he cares or not is completely up to him."

Abidemi stretched her arms out and sighed. Abidemi jumped up when something jumped on her lap. She looked down to see her black cat before smiling at it. "Pearls." she smiled as she started to pet the cat's fur. She giggled when the cat butted against Abidemi's hand. "Such a sweet girl."

"Lady Abidemi. Something is here for you." someone called out to her. Abidemi looked up to see a servant holding up something that looked a lot like a fire-red rose and an envelope. Abidemi's eyes widened and quickly stood up as Pearls jumped up on the desk. She quickly headed to the servant, holding her dress up as she reached for it. "My Lady."

"Just give it here. Please." Abidemi asked as her eyes brightened up. The servant only laughed as they handed Abidemi the rose and letter. Abidemi looked at the letter and nearly squealed from delight as she held it to her chest.

The servant looked at Abidemi oddly but a smile graced their lips. "My lady?"

Abidemi looked at the servant before smiling. "Umm, it's from an old friend. Thank you Chad." she gave him a warm smile before he nodded his head and left the study. Then looked back at the letter in her hands and smiled. She looked at Pearl before holding up the envelope. "Look Pearls. It's a letter from your savior."

The black cat meowled as Abidemi looked at the letter lovingly. Before hugging it close to her heart. "I didn't think I'd get a letter from him today." Abidemi sang as long as she started to hum to herself. "He never sends one twice a week."

"Who never sends one twice a week?" Shyla asked. Abidemi turned to see Kanene and Shyla had come into the study with a cart of food. Shyla's eyes fell on the flower and letter before a look of exhaustion appeared on her face. "Ah. He sent you a letter I see."

Abidemi nodded her head as she hugged the letter close. She was unaware that Shyla's eye was twitching and Kanene was sighing heavily. Kanene placed a hand on Shyla's shoulder to relax the other woman. Kanene looked at the happy Abidemi who was dancing around the room. "My lady. Why don't you open the letter?"

"Oh. Right." Abidemi said happily as she went to sit down on one of the sofas. As she opened the letter. "I'll have to tell him that I'm moving to Elov by the end of the week. That he doesn't have to send letters here anymore. That would be so hard if I don't know where to send them."

"Oh. I'm sure he knows." Shyla muttered. Earning a small slap on the arm from Kanene. Shyla rolled her eyes before picking up the breakfast tray and walking over to Abidemi. She placed the tray on the coffee table as Abidemi read the letter. Shyla smiled at Abidemi as Kanene placed the pitcher of orange juice and an empty glass on the table as well.

"He's here." Abidemi whispered as he looked up from her letter. She had a huge smile on her face as she hugged the letter to her chest. "He wants to see me tomorrow."

"WHAT?" Shyla and Kanene asked at the same time.

"Yup. Tomorrow afternoon." Abidemi said as let out a happy sigh. Shyla and Kanene looked at each other with plain exhaustion on their faces.

'Damn that crown prince.'
