1 Chapter 1 - Leaving Home

"It's time for you to leave now, Luan."

Although indifferent, Luan's face moved just enough to show his shock and confusion. He looked up at his foster mother, Fenrir, a 12-foot-tall wolf. When he was a baby, she had taken him in when he was left in the forest, never telling him what happened the day he was left behind. It has now been 16 years since then.

The Fenrir continued, "You're strong enough now, it's time for you to go explore, find your family, they're waiting for you."

Luan looked down at the only item left with him when he was a baby, a black pendant with a golden sun, on the back was an engraving of his name 'Luan Soleil'. It may look simple, but the craftsmanship showed just how extraordinary the item was. Still with an indifferent face, the Fenrir could see Luan's eyes getting wet.

"Ah, my child. We will still be here and still be your family. You have the soul of one of my children as your soul spirit, be not worried but excited for your new life."

"If I go, you must promise to use our soul connection to stay in connect, you are my mother as well, I will not forget about you and will visit once more."

The Fenrir laughed gently, love and cherish visible in her red eyes. "Of course, or what kind of mother would I be. I also have many things for you, and many questions to answer as well."

Appearing out of almost thin air was a black ring with a black crystal at the center, Luan could feel the mana fluctuations coming from it. This was a space ring, soul cultivators could leave a soul imprint and put things inside of it.

"There is plenty of gold, soul crystals and a letter in this ring. The letter is from your father. I need you to read it right now, before you go to your father Amell. It should answer your questions." The Fenrir spoke to Luan through his mind while gentle placing the ring in his hand using wind magic. Luan nodded, taking out the letter he took a deep breathe before opening it, then he began to read.

"My child Luan,

Father is sorry you've had to go through living without your mother and me. If you're getting this letter, you must be 16 already. Fenrir is a friend to me and your mother, Fayre. We had to send you to the Unknown Groves to keep you safe. While your mother was pregnant, we knew you would be in great danger, so we made plans to send you to the forest with Fenrir. I'm sorry, but your mother passed giving birth. She loved you and only thought of you throughout the whole pregnancy and during labor. I'm hoping by the time you come home, everything is taken care of.

Come home to father, I miss you my beautiful moon boy.

Love your father,

Amell."

Luan stood frozen for what seemed like hours, quiet tears running down his pale face. Suddenly he felt tiny hands wiping his tears on both sides. Gently he smiled to his soul spirits.

When he was 13, he had his awakening. He woke up against Fenrir and her children to two beautiful fairy size elves lying on his chest. He knew who they were, Fenrir had taught him many things, making sure he was prepared. When someone with a stronger than normal soul turns 13, they awaken a soul spirit. A soul spirit is born in its infant phase, and then grows along with their master through battles or using soul crystals. When he was ten, due to one of Fenrir's children dying while helping Luan protect the family while Fenrir was away, somehow the spirit of the child combined with his own, allowing for him to have two soul spirits. It's unusual, but also almost impossible for someone to have more than one soul spirit in the first phase of being a soul cultivator, but he does.

Luan gently patted both of their heads with a finger on each of his hands. Neil and Reil both gently smiled, feeling the emotions of Luan through their soul link. Neil has raven black hair just like Luan, deep blue eyes, and he also has an indifferent face. Reil on the other hand has icy white hair with red eyes, resembling a Fenrir, with a beautiful and delicate featured face. Both Neil and Reil have pointed ears just as Luan does.

Suddenly, Luan, Neil, and Reil ran to Fenrir, giving her a giant hug. All of them showing the same sad emotion in their eyes. Knowing it was time to leave, they didn't want to make it sadder by extending the time out. Luan put the black ring on his right ring finger and turned to leave with Reil and Neil on his shoulders. Feeling a pressure on his foot, he looked down and saw a small Fenrir cub. This cub was only born a little over two months ago, but it had grown extremely attached to him.

'It seems two of my children are leaving home today.' Mother Fenrir laughed although there was a twinge of sadness in her eyes.

'Go on, make a soul bound contract with the child, he will follow you either way. He can be your contracted beast for your first phase, I guarantee he will be strong. Look at him already abandoning his mother at such a young age.' This time she laughed loudly, startling the other beasts in the forest.

Gently picking up the cub, Luan put his forehead to his.

"I Luan, take you as my contracted beast. You will stay by my side as my younger brother, we will protect and care for one another. If you agree, accept your new name, Ano." After speaking, Luan and the cub, Ano, were both shrouded in a bright light, showing that Ano had accepted the contract.

'Oh my. What do we have here?' Confused by Mother Fenrir's sudden words in his mind, he looked down at Ano. As he stared, shock slowly showed on his face.

No longer was Ano full of icy white fur, as raven black also began to show on his paws and the tip of his tail. A black crescent moon appeared between his eyebrows, a direct copy of Luan's.

'Big brother?' Ano suddenly spoke into Luan's mind, although he was only a few months old, his mother is still an immensely powerful beast, so it's obvious he would mature faster than the average.

'He has somehow gotten part of your shadow magic, seeing as he already possessed wind magic, he is now a dual magic beast.' Luan looked at Mother Fenrir, pride evident in her eyes.

'Go now. There is a map in your space ring, it will lead the way to a town and your family clan should be there. Be safe my children.' Mother Fenrir looked upon the four children as they walked away with their final goodbyes. Suddenly she looked up into the sky, 'Let their journey be safe, let them be strong.'

This were her final thought before turning back into the cave and laying with her other children.
