No Hero Exists

Hosuh ran away from home as a young boy and soon met the prince of the kingdom, Beaumont. Beaumont was ready to be king until his father suddenly passed away; he took the throne and became selfish with greed. Hosuh took an oath as Beaumont's head guard to protect his life at all costs, even if it meant risking his own. Hosuh took this at ease until he watched the sweet boy he loved turn into a tyrant King. He wanted him to change - but he knew his friend and knew that the town needed a better ruler. What he didn't realize was that this choice would come with consequences. *Warning- story contains gore, fantasy/violence, discussions of war and weapons, political talk, child abuse, lgbtq+, etc. If any of these topics offend you- in any way, please stray away from my book.* Extra information: I did not create the front cover of my book- my best friend dani_tales4u on Instagram and on Webnovel created the graphic! Chapter [11]

|Hello, ladies, gents, and my non-binary friends! And more;) I want to clear up a thing or two about chapters- each chapter is either a new day or passing days- memories are usually separated from paragraphs that are from that specific moment in time, or passing the time is also separate paragraphs. Now that I've explained- have fun!|

Josephine

I was floating in the air, ready to charge on my opponent, but how could I get the jump on someone alive longer than I? I didn't, and she made that apparent, blocking me and launching me towards a tree. I hit it, feeling pain, but I got over it and attacked once more. Every attempt was defeated by Bell, "Josephine- let's rest." She said as I continued in anger. "Josephine, stop." She yelled a bit more, but I refused. "JOSEPHINE!" She kicked me onto my face, pinning my arms onto my back. "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU! YOU HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL DURING OUR SESSION!" She yelled at me, but that was the last straw.

"I DON'T CARE! HOW COULD HOSUH JUST LEAVE AND COME BACK AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED! WAS I NOT WORTH TELLING!" I screamed.

"Josephine, I understand your anger, but that does not mean you are allowed to beat me around as if I were a doll! If you want to be angry, yell at Hosuh!" She screamed at me, and a part of me felt terrible. "Calm down, sit and think." she let me go, dropping next to a tree.

I got up, rubbing the dirt off my face. "I apologize, Bell. I shouldn't have hurt you." I said as she shrugged, "It's okay, just please talk to Hosuh if something is wrong."

Liam

"What are you doing here, Liam?" Hosuh seemed shocked as if I caught him doing a sin, and I might have if that woman counted. "I came to send my mother a letter but realized the messenger bird is here in Norwick and decided to make the journey... why are you here?" I asked as he rubbed his neck. "I get cargo from Norwick every month for the village." His anxious movements and rapid eyes didn't convince me. I knew he was with a woman or two- I just wouldn't have assumed it would be one in Norwick of all places.

"That didn't seem like cargo if I have ever seen one." I narrowed my eyes, "Please don't tell, King Beaumont." He sighed as I shrugged, "That you've been sneaking off to see a woman?" I smirked as he blushed. "I broke things off with her because I have a love interest in mind that I don't want to mess up with. Please keep this between us." He begged as I grinned. "I shall if ya take me back to Cunningham with you." I bent down to stare him straight in the eyes. "Fine." "AYE! LET'S BE ON OUR WAY!"

My eyes opened, I sat under a tree with the sun beaming through the leaves. I pulled a letter from my pocket, opening it to reveal money. I felt myself sigh, "I'll deliver this to Lia soon; I must've gotten distracted by Hosuh." But why would he be so ashamed to tell, Beau? Is courting against the duty of a guard? I never read the contract- "LIAM!"

I glanced down to the street, seeing Ellis wave to me. I signaled back, "Have you seen Bell?" He asked with his unusual voice. "She is doing combat with Josephine." I yelled out as Ellis nodded, "Much appreciated." He turned around, looking down both streets again till hesitantly going down the left one.

I'm curious enough to butt in; I jumped from the hill and followed Ellis in a hurry. "What?" He asked, glancing at me.

"You seem awfully attached to Miss Fire." I winked as Ellis shrugged. "We've known each other for years, of course; I worry over her," he explained, but I smelled a fib.

"Oh yea, I give all my mates such eyes," I said as he blushed. He lightly panicked, "no, no, no! I don't like her! Nor women!" I blinked, "So you are a man who likes men?" I asked as he panicked more. "NO! I meant that whether I liked her or not- it is none of your business!" "Aye, I only wished to be a pal. I didn't mean to strike a nerve." I gave him space, but he only seemed to regret it. "No, my apologies Liam. I just- perhaps I do like her, but the idea of her loving me back is impossible." He groaned. "Never say never, I'm sure ya charm could make her beg." I snickered, but he didn't seem phased.

"I doubt that." I wrapped my arm around his neck, "Don't be sulking! There are plenty of lasses to fill ya heart!" I chuckled, and Ellis finally laughed. "You are a moron." I smirked, "Nay, I am just Liam." We bursted into laughter.

Josephine

I arrived near the mansion, noticing Hosuh talk to Beau. He waved at me and then glanced at Bell, "Bell, can we speak." "Sure." Hosuh ran behind me to converse with Bell, but I looked through the gate to Beau. He gave me a wave with his right hand, having the other behind his back. I smiled, waving back. He seemed happy till his eyes no longer were on me; I glanced back and realized he watched Hosuh and Bell. His smile disappeared; why?

His hands fell to his side, revealing his left hand with bandages. For a moment, I could see this black shadow looming over him. I could hear this silent voice repeating bad things, it was hard to understand, but I could tell it was violent.

"Beau, are you-" I attempted to speak, but he fakely smiled at me, pointing his index finger to his lips as if to mention: silence. "Josephine, ready to go?" Hosuh asked, knocking back to my surroundings. "Uh, yes." I nodded, uncertain.

We began walking, but I looked back at Beau, seeing the thing clearer. "Bye, Beau. Be careful..."
