The Meeting

Ava was ashamed of her own behavior because she was ruining the years of friendship with Sam because of her selfishness.

"Sam, I'm really sorry." She didn't have anything else left to say except for sorry.

Sam couldn't do this anymore if he didn't love her so much he would have already left by now but he was madly in love with the women in front of him so all he could do was endure her ruthlessness. However he couldn't give in and he felt it was pointless to keep explaining the same thing again and again because it's not that she didn't understand him, it actually seems like she just didn't care about his feelings. Sam felt both sad and heartbroken by the way things turned between them today so he decided to stop her there.

Sam said lightly, "That's enough Ava. Let's not drag it anymore."

Ava was flustered, she felt really guilty and unconsciously started to rub her gauze-covered wrist.

Sam's eye's fell on the wound he suddenly asked, "How is your wrist wound?"

Ava was a bit stunned at his question but she was grateful for the change of topics and said immediately, "I think it has healed. I'll remove the gauze today or tomorrow."

"How did this happened?" Sam asked sharply, even though he had already guessed it had something to do with Oliver. He knew Ava well, she wouldn't have done this kind of thing unless she was pushed into a dead end.

"I hurt myself by accident," Ava said in a low voice and lowered eyes. She couldn't look at him and lie.

Sam stared at Ava for a while as his face got hard, yes only Oliver knight had the ability to hurt Ava like that and the most painful thing was she not only let him torture her like that but also she was willing to cover for him happily. That thought made Sam really angry, he said in an angry and deep voice, "Ava, do you think I am stupid?"

"Hey baby when we are together..." A phone call interrupted their conversation.

Ava reached for her purse to get her phone out and at the same time Sam took out his phone from his pocket and picked it up. Ava looked at Sam in surprise. They had the same ringtone? What a coincidence!

Sam saw an unknown number and thought of ignoring the call at first then he thought again of his grandmother's condition and decided to pick it up, just in case.

"Samuel Evan?" Someone asked in a cold and deep voice from the other end.

"Yes, who is this?" Sam frowned, he didn't like the tone of the man who was on the other end of the call.

"Oliver Knight." Oliver was standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window of his office. His one hand was on his pocket and he was watching the traffic on the road from the window up indifferently.

"What can I do for you?" Sam's eyes subconsciously fell on Ava hearing it was Oliver.

"We need to talk," Oliver said calmly.

"When?" Sam wanted to laugh, how he become a VIP all of a sudden that everyone was looking for him including the almighty Oliver Knight, getting who's appointment was even difficult than getting the president's appointment.

"Now! I'll wait for you at Knight International," Oliver said dominatingly then hung up. It was not a request just an order, after all, he was Oliver Knight.

Ava looked and Sam and thought he was acting a bit weird, she had never seen him talking to someone so coldly. She was used to his warm and sunny personality and now he even looks really mad. What's going on?

"Sam, is everything alright?" Ava asked cautiously.

Looking at Ava's worried eyes Sam calmed down, he comforted himself thinking Ava cared about him very much otherwise she wouldn't be this worried just because of his reaction.

"Yes, but something came up so I will have to leave now," Sam said calmly with a gentle smile.

He didn't want Ava to know about the meeting with Oliver, he was sure that Oliver wouldn't let her know either. Man likes to settled things in private so he didn't tell her and made an excuse to leave.

"Well, then hurry up. And Sam I'm really sorry for today." Ava said dejectedly.

"It's ok Ava, I don't blame you. Just remember no matter what, I will always be your safe haven." Sam said sincerely and once again letting Ava know her place in his heart.

Ava felt both helpless and heartache at his words.

Knight International.

Oliver was working at his office, and his fingers were writing something on the paper with deep concentration. If someone had a chance to take a peek they would only be able to see Ava's name scripted in the whole folder in beautiful calligraphic handwriting.

Since morning Oliver has been trying to concentrate on work but he didn't know why he was getting distracted. He was very upset about Ava and Samuel's relationship especially after knowing that Erika wanted to pursue Samuel he felt really helpless. Why did it have to be him?

So Oliver decided to settle the things before it gets out of his hand and throw Samuel out of Erika's life. He knew Erika was a stubborn girl she wouldn't give up easily unless Samuel told her directly that he didn't like her and that's why he called Samuel today.

Oliver had already investigated Sam's background so he knew well that his conditions were not that bad. He was a very capable man, he was polite, his character was good, and had a promising future. But the thing that was most annoying to Oliver was Samuel had a feeling for Ava. If he regarded Ava just as a friend then Oliver wouldn't oppose Erika and Samuel being together. So today he needed to make things clear with Samuel Evan.
