Birthday Present
Beijing Tiantan Hospital.
Ava was in her office sorting out some patient's file when her phone suddenly beeped which was her reminder tone. She put the file down and took a look at her phone to see what was the reminder for. She smiled seeing that it was Mia's birthday reminder. Today was her birthday.
Mia was her best friend who has always been there for Ava, so she felt she had to get something special for Mia. But Ava couldn't make up her mind what she should get for her. Ava thought normally all the women liked cosmetics or lipsticks, but it's not anything special, besides after they became friends this was her first birthday so Ava had to get something extraordinary for her friend.
At noon, Ava, Susan, and Mia were having lunch at the lounge, Ava suddenly asked Mia, "Mia, what kind of present would you give to your best friend?"
Mia put a piece of meat into her mouth and said with a smile, "Well I'll give her whatever she likes."
"Then what do you like?" Ava suddenly felt she was really a bad friend, they have known each other for a few months now but she had no idea what interested Mia.
"I'm a foodie. I like to eat." Mia said with a big smile.
Susan, who was listening to them, said with a smile, "Mia, you should eat less. I think you've gained some weight recently."
As soon as Mia heard this, she became tense. She put down her chopsticks and asked seriously, "Really? Sister Susan, you really think I have gotten fat?
"Well, I think so, if you don't believe me then ask Director Green."
Ava stared at Mia's round baby face and with a smile, she said, "I don't think Mia is fat."
"There's a scale at the nurse's station, you go there and check for yourself," Susan said smiling.
Listening to Susan Mia lost her appetite. For any woman, the word "fat" was more powerful than an atomic bomb! Every woman wanted to have a good figure and Mia was only 24 years old and had no boyfriend yet so naturally, it bothered her very much.
"Mia, don't stress over your weight. People who love you will naturally love you the way you are, if someone falls in love with you for your figure then that wouldn't be pure love." Ava smiled and puts another piece of meat on Mia's plate.
Ava felt although Mia was a little chubby but she was cute and had a heart of gold, as long as she was herself no matter whether she was fat or thin, anyone will like her.
After lunch, Ava ran to the nearby shopping mall.
Cartier jewelry.
It was one of the luxurious brands that are very famous for its unique design. When Ava was living at the Green villa she came once or twice to this shop to buy jewelry, she liked their design very much but now at Oliver's villa her closet was full of different kinds of jewelry, so she didn't have any reason to come here. Since it was a special occasion so Ava decided to come here and see if she liked anything for Mia.
The shop assistant came to Ava and greeted her with a warm smile: "Hello, miss, what can I do for you?"
"Let me have a look first." Ava was just looking, if anything caught her eyes then she will buy it.
"Miss please follow me, some new collection came this morning. I am sure you will like them, let me show you." The assistant of Cartier jewelry had a sharp eye. She saw Ava was wearing branded clothes and knew that she was definitely from a rich family, so she was very enthusiastic.
Ava sat down and looked at the different jewelry the assistant showed her. She liked a few things but wasn't really sure whether she should buy a necklace or a bracelet. Cartier's bracelet was very classic. She saw many women loved to wear it but the necklace was also very beautiful, the style was simple but gorgeous, it goes well with Mia's temperament.
Just when Ava was making up her mind which one to buy she heard someone said in a warm voice, "Miss Taylor, welcome to our shop."
Ava turned back and saw an elegant woman wearing a blue and white off-shoulder check dress with high heels and a pair of Dior sunglasses entered the shop. She had very heavy makeup on her face but Ava could recognize her. It was Amelia Taylor. Amelia's assistant was following her behind.
Ava knew Amelia Taylor was one of the top actress and model of KNIGHT International Entertainment Company. She was almost the same age as Ava. Three years ago Amelia became popular after her big hit movie called "red scarf". At that time, Ava was still studying in the UK. The box office of the film broke a billion in a week after it was released. The Knight International made a big profit from that movie and Oliver become very close to Amelia that they were seen several times attending different events together.
At the thought of Oliver holding Amelia on the red carpet, Ava was a little upset. Amelia made her feel a little uncomfortable but she didn't want to think about it so Ava turned back and concentrated on the jewelry in front of her. She was still confused about what to buy for Mia. Ava just wanted to choose the jewelry and leave the shop as soon as possible. After thinking for a while Ava finally decides to buy the platinum 18K diamond necklace.
Upon making up her mind Ava took the necklace in hand to give it to the assistant to pack it for her, however at the same time Amelia held the necklace too. The two women, holding the same necklace looked at each other and there was an awkward tension in the air, Ava's eyes looked at Amelia calmly whereas Amelia's proud eyes were full of provocation.
