No Deaths Allowed

Daron Finley wasn't the weakest student to exist in his school, but he was weak. Inheriting a body physique from his parents that enhanced his normal human capabilities helped in some ways. But without an ability domain, he could not grow his strength. His parents never had high hopes for him. They knew it was impossible without an ability domain. But they did their best to take care of him, even if their jobs had to have them travel a lot. Archeology had boomed with the discovery of ability domains. If one was to find a site with an ability domain, it would change their life. Daron's parents were both at a site like that. A rare occasion for the both of them to be assigned to the same dig site, but a welcome one. A hard clang was heard as one of them dug into something hard. _____ "It's your lucky day, Mr. and Mrs. Finley. It appears we have a power artifact." His smile continued. "Lucky day?" They both said. "Well, of course. This will be given to you after all." Both of their eyes opened wide. "We... we couldn't possibly..." Mrs. Finley started. ______ They both looked at each other. They knew they couldn't let this opportunity go to waste. Even though the director said this was their reward for their efforts, they couldn't help but keep in their hearts that they wanted to repay him one day. "Thank you Director Aaron," Mrs. Finley said. The director got the tablet packaged and set it into a portal that opened before him. His own ability domain, the ability to teleport objects to anywhere he wished if he had been there before. Though, he could only teleport relatively small objects, nothing bigger than a microwave. But many artifacts weren't that big so it was no trouble to him. Given his good-natured attitude, it's natural for him to have been to the Finleys' house. The package teleported right onto the countertop in the house, with a note signed by Daron's parents and the director. "We love you Daron! -Mom" "You're the most prized artifact Daron! -Dad" "I wish you luck Daron! -Director Aaron"

Chapter 36 - A Terrifying Enemy To Have

Daron ran towards the gym as he left the medic's office, hoping that not too much damage had already been done. Noctus's ability can work in a single moment, and he's had over ten minutes by now, Daron could hope that he was still even at the gym.

It was a long way across campus from the medic's office to reach his destination, taking about two minutes while running the entire way, but he was finally there as he opened the doors.

Looking to his side, he saw one student sitting on the ground next to the door with a slight grimace on his face, presumably from Noctus. While looking forward, Noctus was fighting another student who was doing their best to dodge him at every chance. Many were watching on the outskirts of the gym with wary eyes.

Looking at the student on the ground and the one Noctus was fighting, Daron started walking toward the fight while glaring at Noctus. This caught the attention of a few people, some of which who had witnessed Daron fighting Noctus previously, causing whispers to fly around the gym.

This didn't go unnoticed by Noctus who started seeing people glance and whisper to each other, which caused him to look around the gym. Settling his eyes onto Daron, his anger flared up as he forgot about the student he was currently fighting.

"You-" Noctus started to say before Daron started running over to fight him.

"I have nothing to say to you," Daron glared as he got closer.

Noctus prepared his ability in advance as Daron rushed close to him and he struck him in the chest.

"I thought you already knew that that doesn't work on me?" Daron said as he struck his palm forward to use Fast Nerve Palm.

Striking Noctus's shoulder, it still caused him to feel an immense amount of pain, making him lose any focus he had on the fight. He refused to scream this time, though, only out of pride.

But, Daron didn't take this as the end of the fight. "Don't think I'm done," he said, as he struck him with Fast Nerve Palm again to make sure he really can't focus.

This time he did scream. Unfortunately for him, this wouldn't be the end of his nightmare.

Channeling his Constitution aspect Energy, Daron injected it into Noctus as he pinned him down. With no resistance on the side of Noctus, his Energy could flow entirely freely through the entirety of the other party's Energy Path.

Once he felt that his Energy was encompassing Noctus's entire Energy Path, he controlled it to freeze.

This was another shot in the dark on his part, something he had no idea if it would work, but as the command flowed through his Energy and into Noctus's Energy Path, everything froze. The first hurdle of his plan was complete, now for the second one.

Daron didn't plan to seal Noctus's Energy Path, he intended to destroy, at least partially, the aspects that inhabited it. For this, he would have to use Self-Inflicted Autoimmunity, but he didn't know how much it would affect him either. He could only hope for the best, hence why he kept his Healing aspect unsealed, so he could heal himself through the process, despite how little remaining Healing aspect Energy he had left. It'd be one painful process though.

Steeling himself, Daron activated his skill, and waited as both their bodies soon started to attack their Energy Path's. For Daron, it was only his Constitution aspect, and he could keep it at bay with his healing aspect. But for Noctus, it was his entire Energy Path and all his aspects that inhabited it.

Daron never felt the symptoms he felt before when using the skill, but he could tell that Noctus did, as he started to shiver and his eyes closed from the harsh lighting of the gym, presumably from his head hurting.

"What the hell are you doing to me?!" Noctus yelled.

"Nothing that you don't deserve," Daron replied.

As the minutes passed by, Noctus could feel himself grow weaker, and the pain intensified, causing him to start yelling for Daron to stop.

The students watching throughout the gym couldn't help but feel awed and terrified at Daron, and felt that he would be a terrifying enemy to have.

After a minute of Noctus yelling, surprisingly, his system gave him a notification.

[Lowest-Level Combat Technique has been created]

[Noctus's current aspects in his Energy Path have all been reset back to one, the level of a normal human, you can stop now.]

Looking at them, Daron released his skill and his hold on Energy inside of Noctus and got off of him.

Feeling Daron get off of him, Noctus quickly backed away on the floor. "What did you do to me?"

Daron stared down at Noctus with a cold glare refusing to answer his question.

Noctus felt like a cornered animal under his glare.

Turning his back, Daron walked to the door he had entered into the gym and he saw the boy who had been injured by Noctus was still there, watching in awe what had transpired.

Sighing, Daron offered his hand. "Come with me to the medic's office."

He looked at Daron's hand and it took it as he got up with a slight wobble.

It took a few more minutes to walk with the boy to the medic's office than it did when he ran to the gym, but they made it there nonetheless.

Walking into the medic's office, Daron settled the boy onto a bed, as he got the medics to look over him so he could recover his Energy so he could heal him.

After an hour, Daron started to heal the boy and within a few minutes his Energy Path was as good as new. Sending him on his way, the medic's office was now entirely empty of patients, and only housed the medics and Daron, soon-to-be medic.

Dr. Bennet walked over with a smile. "Well, thanks to you, we don't have any more patients."

Daron shook his head. "You might have one. But you won't be able to do anything for him."

Dr. Bennet scrunched his brow. "What does that mean?"

"Noctus. The aspects in his Energy Path have been reset to their base level of a normal human. To one."

The medics brought their hands to their mouths.

"That's what you did?" Dr. Bennet asked.

"Yes. Like you said, anything aside from death, right? I didn't even cripple him. He can recover, his Energy Path isn't blocked. His progress has just been reset. At least concerning the aspects inside of his Energy Path. He should have aspects outside of his Energy Path as well, but those aren't exactly used in his Ability Domain."

Dr. Bennet gave one single laugh. "You are certainly a terrifying enemy to have, you know that?"

"Thank you," Daron said.
