Relic's Glory Days pt 2

After being swallowed by the light, everyone had been settled into the last resting place of Oscar Orcus. Hajime was out of commission completely, so he wasn't awake when it had happened. The culprit thoroughly ignored him and instead set up an area to keep the hydra eggs at to help them hatch. While Yue dragged her boyfriend off to bed to nurse him back to health, the monsters settled in with Relic guarding the strange live stock in this area.

After Hōhei had gotten the eggs situated, he checked every room until he found Oscar Orcus. With a sigh, he learned Creation Magic from the dead man with a scowl wishing his message would shut up. But after he had learned the magic, ignoring the long explanation, he left to go find some new clothing and maybe a hair tie. As Hōhei feels like his hair may be longer, but that could just be his imagination, until Éternelle shows him it that is.

So, his current objective is to ransack Oscar's clothing for new ones after a nice long bath! Taking a while to clean up and feeling fresh for once in a long time, mainly after chuckling at Éternelle trying to doggy-paddle in the bath, he started on his other main objective. While doing so, he had found Oscar's journal, and a rather unique umbrella, detailing every last thing of his life. Seeing this, Hōhei searched its contents and smiled once he had found the things he wanted. Book marking them, he stacked the journal with his new books he was definitely taking with him, he got dressed in less destroyed clothing. Standing before a mirror, Hōhei took in his new appearance and chuckled.

He was wearing some black rimmed spectacles, a red button-up dress shirt, a dark gray vest, a dark blue long tail coat with two chains hanging on one side. That fit snugly on his current frame in his opinion as he patted his chest. But he also wore a rather durable tan monster leather belt, black dress pants, and black dress shoes. Along with having his rather long with hair in a ponytail behind him, as only a few loose strands of hair were left alone.

All in all, right now, he is currently looking like Oscar Orcus, but he can rightly be called a demon. As he does have a monster living in his head right now, so its look in the glasses is appropriate. Speaking of which, besides what the Oscar in the recording said, in his journal at the very end was a simple, yet heartfelt wish.

"Tell Miledi I'm sorry for never admitting how I felt." Having noticed that, Hōhei smiled softly at that line and silently promised to show it to her in person. Putting his primary books onto his new belt, he clapped his hands and went to start creating some new equipment, and update the Taming Library, as he picked up the umbrella and gave it a spin.

Hōhei smiled once the tip made an audible tap on the floor as he walked out of the room and towards the storage area and started his preparations. He had managed to find a second ring filled with materials like the one Hajime always wore in the books, manga, and anime, so he used that to steal half materials in the storage room. After getting everything, he started upgrading everyone's gear and prosthetics. Starting with the Taming Library first and listening to Relic tell more of her story.

" I know sometime today you escape the dungeon, yes? So, I'll tell you my story further as you work until it's time for us to leave, alright?" 'Haaa.... You poor fools, you tried so hard to save the world and instead had it turned on you while so young.'

"Before that, while I have the chance, I want to the Taming Library just in case, so give me a few seconds."

"Alright pup, I will wait for you to do what it is your planning to do."

"Well then first is to take it all apart once more..."

Tracing his hands over it, Akuma slowly and carefully disassembled his book before having all the materials back to how they used to be before him as he sat down at a table.

"Ah, if this succeeds, then it'll be watching the old days..."

Wondering what Relic meant, Hōhei noted to listen closely to what Relic is going to tell about in the story after he makes the book. Focusing back onto the task, Hōhei transmuted the ore he takes from his new ring into materials he'll need, the voices of various Chimera's giving him advice. Once that was done, he took out some magic stones and common gems with a special made needle for enchantment etchings. Combining them into gems and magic stones, while etching almost microscopic runes into them all, he focused intently on every detail. Once those were finished, he set aside gems representing every conceivable element for later.

He made the paper a lot more robust by mixing in some ore and magic stones into the very fabric of it all. The strings were redone, he focused on making the strings conductive and sensitive to a few things with the help a Chimera who dabbles in Soul Crafting. Eventually, he reworked the cover and back cover, hiding effects and properties inside of them with no outward changes to them. Slowly and carefully, with slow movements from his mixed purple and crimson sparks, he remade the book in its entirety.

Once it's done and completed using materials of the best quality from this world, and making sure everything wouldn't move wrong, but could be turned freely, he shut the book.

"Well Castra, Vargris.... Watch over us and help protect this book, since it will be essential to us."

"You have an odd way of paying respects to the dead, you know welp?"

"Oh shut it Relic and just begin your story!"

"Fine fine don't yell~ get cozy then everyone and listen to this old monster's story, okay?"

With a small chuckle from Relic, the other monster got comfy, Hōhei reclipping the book onto his belt on the other side of his belt. Once everyone was ready for a tale from ancient times, Relic started speaking slowly and calmly with a distant look.

"When I left off I had mentioned the creation of Seekers, the Liberators and my pups, this time I think I'll share of the more notable moments I have taken part in. One such moment was when the Liberators and I had just freed a city and killed those too far gone with brainwashing from Ehit. Freeing that city from the warring Demons, Humans, and Demi-Humans had been bloody and long that when we finally had won, we lost over a hundred people and monsters of our small army. That city though was so lifeless…

So BROKEN in spirit that the inhabitants asked us to kill them, so they didn't have to suffer more of the war, of the torture, of the zealot nature of those brainwashed. It was numbing to fix those broken minds day and night, however, one child in that city stood out to me. She was so chipper and full of life, even when her memories held pain, so much pain and the dark side of Humanity.

She had been raped, tortured, beaten for fun, enslaved, and so much more… Yet, she was so chipper and lively, even with missing limbs or so many scars. She held out hope someone, something, would save them, no matter how fleeting it seemed. She had that hope and in the end it had come true as if an actual God had granted her wish."

"Must've been Hestia, she's generous like that."

"Hestia?"

"A goddess from my world, well worlds, who is known primarily as the Goddess of the Hearth and is all about family."

"She sounds wonderful, more so than the false god of this world… back to the story though. After meeting that child it was interesting to watch her story play out as she grew up to be one of the Liberators most effective medical officers. She would save many lives and always boost morale with her positive outlook.

There was also Raynor, a young man in his thirties who stopped a battle by becoming one with the world. He disappeared as if he never existed but he stopped a battle spanning three hundred miles. By using magic that could soothe and bring clarity to self-destructive proportions, he stopped it all. In his place was empty air, but his foot prints remained as the sole testament to his existence that day. Oscar personally erected a tombstone for him using his footsteps for his sacrifice."

"Sounds like an alright guy…"

"He was alright for a Demon. He just wanted a place to rest and start a new life, not war. Never war, yet he gave that all up to do something grand in his final moments. As when he became one with the world I felt his life and magic soar. They soared with faint laughter as he left this world and Ehit behind. I don't begrudge him, he got his wish in sacrificing his life and body in this world. I hope he went somewhere better."

I looked at the ancient monster as she seemed to sag.

"We could find his tombstone and I could help you find out if he did. It'd even help become a dimensional exit point if it still exists. Though we'd up in the world he was sent to most likely."

"I'd… I'd like that. I want to leave this world behind after ending Ehit's life."

"Well I need to groom everyone and make sure you're all in your best condition to leave soon. So yeah that's what we need to do before leaving the dungeon, murdering a God, and finding that grave. After all, if you guys are healthy and at your best, then I can also do my best while being a bit crazy!"

With a soft, almost a snickering chuckle, Relic shakes her head at the young man who tamed her. Once he had finished with the book and took care of everyone, he began making sure everyone's equipment was made or upgraded. Which turned out very nicely if he had to say, everyone looked like they were ready for war! Hōhei had, however, messed with Oscar's umbrella a bit, making it also a magic gun, a Ukelea, a katana broadsword, and a scythe.

But damn did he like how Oscar made this umbrella, it could double as a fucking shield! After getting that all sorted out he had everyone but Relic, Medusa, and Éternelle return to the book. With a sigh he looked towards the room where he could see Yue taking care of Hajime before calling out.
