Transmigration

When Veil wakes up, she felt that her body is really heavy and famished.

Her stomach is grumbling and felt powerless, she used every bit of her energy to stand up and walk.

When she got out of the alleyway she found herself on, she found a stall selling different kinds of snacks.

Growlll.

Her stomach is complaining from the lack of food, she then approached the vendor to ask for spare food.

"Hey Runa! Go away!" The vendor suddenly shooed her away with a stick.

She walked away then realized that she was called Runa, which is certainly not her name.

Wandering with a confused mind, she went back to the alleyway but encountered three boys around the age of 17.

When she looked at the boys, she belatedly realized that she shrunk down into a younger kid, or more accurately, she is now living as another person.

The boys taller than her bumped their shoulders onto her, however, with her frail body, she helplessly stumbled back.

"What are you staring at huh, Runa!" One of the boys sneered.

"What is your problem with me, why are you all treating me like this?" Veil gave a cold look.

The boys shuddered in fear while screaming: "Runa suddenly spoke!!!" The three then ran away from the alleyway.

Getting even more confused, she then saw an old man approach her from the direction the boys ran into.

"Eat this while listening to me." The old man gave her a piece of bread and a fried snack before sitting down on a sack filled with sand.

Veil, now in the identity of a kid known as Runa, nodded and sat down beside the old man.

"I am called Gordo; I am actually your grandfather, Runa."

"However, I believe you are not the same person anymore, seeing the change in your eyes."

"You see, my granddaughter Runa is mute, she was born unable to produce audible sounds or form words." Gordo explained in a calm voice.

"I see… I feel like I do not belong to this body, to this world." Veil looked up at the sky.

She felt that the atmosphere is totally different, it is very peaceful yet unfamiliar, and it is as if she is in different world.

Runa, the night before Veil arrived into her body was actually wandering around at night to search for food.

She only wrote to her grandfather Gordo that she will play outside.

However, that night, Runa was feeling extremely weak; she barely lifted up her hand to write before walking outside.

When she reached the same alleyway, she actually died of hunger, she fell head down first on a pile of carton and sacks of sand.

This is something that nobody found out, not even Gordo knew that Runa, her granddaughter is truly dead.

When Veil disappeared from the Underworld Zekerion, the orbs of her soul did not exit towards her supposed world and timeline; instead, she infested someone else's body.

This body is someone from an alternate timeline, a reflection of her own world where things have gone slightly different.

"That young girl Runa has always dreamt of painting ever since she learned to walk and stand up for herself."

"She would pick up pens of various colors to paint different sceneries." Gordo shared in a soothing voice.

"I will continue the dream of Runa, do not worry grandfather." Veil finished her food and smiled to Gordo.

"I understand but do not forget to visit me once in a while, even if you are not the Runa I know of anymore." Gordo shed a tear as she patted Veil's head.

"Mhm." Veil, regaining her energy to walk again, went with Gordo momentarily to see Runa's paintings.

When she saw the paintings, she was mesmerized, tears well up from her eyes, reason being that the sceneries are from her previous life's city, Marlov.

Everything was a familiar sight to her, the cliffs, the forests, the lake and even the houses; it was all part of Marlov.

"Maybe everything really has a purpose, even you taking the identity of my grandchild." Gordo sat down on a chair.

"Mhm, I will do everything to prove you right." Veil then said her goodbyes to Gordo.

Now, she plans to learn more of this world and where she is, what the reason for her new life is, and most especially, how she would get back to the world she is originally from.

[…]

First, she visited the local library and learned that she is in year 2841 in the city of Belleria, approximately 500 years after the time she knows of.

It means that everything she know from her past life would be different from now, a hundred years would change a lot of things, what more 5 times of that?

After investigating in the library, she checked the state of the Adventurers; it seems that they have established new systems for the Adventurers.

Such system is the ability to evolve into a Hero, the local librarian explained to her in great detail that wars have been more common in the past hundred years.

This is why engineers of various races unified together to discover a new use for magic crystals and mana crystals, creating what is called a Spiritform.

They would turn mana crystals into strands that later form some sort of magic circuits' extension.

By adding magic crystals with different types of elemental affinities, an Adventurer with sufficient level of strength in both physical and spiritual bodies would be able to receive the Spiritform.

After extending and reinforcing their own bodies' magic circuits with the Spiritform, their skills would evolve into a larger scale: one that would rival Heroes' abilities.

Veil was also informed that every 6 months or semi-annually, each city would choose a worthy person to receive a Spiritform.

The chosen person must not be a high-level Adventurer because this Spiritform given would be used to fully awaken an ordinary Adventurer's magic circuits, therefore turning them into a level of Adventurer without any hard training and combat experience prior.

This way, the cities' forces would grow stronger without needing to invest a large amount of time to train a low level Adventurer into a higher level; however, their strength would still require more polishing and improvement.

Reaching the higher levels of Adventurers won't mean that they can already fight and join the main forces, they would only be assigned to ordinary dungeon diving.

These dungeons have also started to emerge during the past years, dungeon gates would occasionally appear near city borders.

If these dungeons are not attacked before a certain period of time, the monsters would flood out in large numbers.

That is why cities would assign patrols specifically for dungeons, they would take the initiative to strike rather than wait until the enemy grows in strength and numbers.

Perfectly timed enough, the next test to be chosen to receive a Spiritform is coming in just a couple of months; Veil must absolutely not waste this opportunity.

She joined hard labor jobs that pay enough for her to eat; in turn, she could train her muscles to grow.

While working physical jobs at the day, she would undergo spiritual training at nights, visiting places with a condensed amount of mana to learn controlling them.

After taking over Runa's body, she found out that Runa has not yet unlocked the magic circuits within her spiritual body, thus, not being able to control and use mana.

The process is really simple once she forcefully injects rampant mana into her body to unlock her magic circuits; however, she is taking time as to not damage Runa's body.

Also, the combat techniques she once possessed is still in her mind, although it will take time to reach her peak in this weaker body.

[…]

Veil maintained this steady routine of hers; she would also occasionally visit Gordo to bring him paintings.

She does not know how to paint, but with her training days, she would learn how to draw and become creative with her hands.

She started with simple sceneries such as sky and land, until she could add more details such as small flowers and birds.

Gordo happily displayed the paintings on his simple house.

For the purpose of her last visit, she informed Gordo that she will become an Adventurer if she was chosen to receive the Spiritform.

She also intentionally wore clothing that would cover her arms and legs because they were bruised.

She intended to hide the fact that she was getting bullied in the jobs that she is going through every day.

Bruises of various shades of blue and purple was still visible in her arms and thighs, she could only endure because she must not hurt someone else when she wants to become an Adventurer.

Gordo did not stop her; however, he could not help but notice the immediate changes to Runa's body, he still took notice of the sudden attire, which could only mean that the girl is hiding something from him, but he did not pry.

She grew a little bit taller while her muscles looked firmer, she does not look like the frail and slim Runa anymore.

She has gained a proper body mass and sufficient strength to easily do physical labors.

When she left Gordo's house near the small hill, she went back to the city to investigate the rules of the small competition.

It was still a week before, but some knights from the capital of the continent already visited to inform every participant about the rules, they would then return 7 days later with a high-ranking official to finally start the main event.

"Greetings, people of Belleria, we have come from the capital to inform you of the rules for the upcoming Spiritform's bestowal." The captain of the knights spoke in a loud voice and then nodded on his female knight subordinate.

"Hm, there is a slight difference for the challenge this time; however, do not worry as the rules are still fair for everyone."

"Usually, we would test the participants through various tests of physical strength, mana familiarity and potential, but now it would be done through a single challenge instead!"

"The Spiritform will be granted to whoever pulls out the rank 12 Magic Weapon: Rosalia, the Sword of Eternal Ice!" The female knight explained.

Gasps filled the silence after the knight's explanation, some of them are unaware of what that challenge entails, while some of them knows one thing or another regarding the said Magic Weapon.

Magic Weapons are commonly avoided being wielded by Adventurers, only the brave ones would use these weapons.

The primary reason why Adventurers avoided Magic Weapons is because of their abnormal states, some Magic Weapons would differ in weight depending on who carries them, while sometimes they would suddenly become dull not even enough to wound one's skin.

It was rumored that Magic Weapons have a will of their own, changing upon the user's own willpower.

If a user's willpower overcomes the Magic Weapons, they would not suffer any backlash of abnormal statuses or whatever.

These Adventurers that successfully wielded Magic Weapons have saved cities from destruction, some slayed a Dragon while some built an entire city of their own.

The Magic Weapons' bizarre effects are caused by the materials used upon crafting them.

Various Grandmaster smiths have only stumbled upon certain materials that turned their weapons into Magic Weapons.

In existence, there are said to be 24 Magic Weapons, meanwhile, the sword in the challenge is ranked 20th.

Magic Weapons are not only classified into swords, there are various ones such as bows, staffs, spears, claws and more.

After the knights left, some of the participants immediately went into frenzy as they ran towards the library to learn more about the Rosalia.

Veil similarly started moving, but contrary to everyone, she did not go to the library, instead, she dashed towards the next city.

Welp, here we go, the isekai aspect. Do not worry, the story does not go weaker from here. Stay tuned for more!
