The Forgotten

Veil was suddenly filled with confusion; she then replied "It is me, Veil, your sister!"

"Sister? I am the only child of my father. If you are an intruder, get out before we resort to force!" Lauron answered.

"…" Veil was hit by a realization.

With great helplessness, she quietly walked away outside the castle gates.

She searched for an inn to rest for the night, she feels like everything is just a dream.

She wandered off the streets to search for an inn, however, everyone thought that she is sick in the head and that is why no one is letting her stay on their inns.

She felt more depressed and desperate; everyone was acting like they do not know her and suddenly forgot about her achievements and very existence.

As she walked and walked for hours, she found herself on a river, the moon brightly illuminates the dark skies.

She sat down on a rock near the river and picked up small stones.

She then threw the stones one by one, seemingly to distract herself from the flooding thoughts of helplessness and confusion.

As her visions blur into the horizon, she recalled her encounter with the Dark Clown, it has to be the Dark Clown's fault that all of this is happening.

She clenched her fist in fury until her palm bleeds.

She wants nothing else but to take revenge and bring back the identity she lost.

However, thinking of the Dark Clown's ability to enter stealth and leave no mana traces, she felt helpless, yet again.

On the last stone, she did not throw it, she just let go of it as she slowly plops down on a tree to rest.

As she leaves give her shade on the moonlight, she drifts into sleep.

Worrying and being angry would not be good to her mental state, she could only find out things one by one and investigate more.

She must remain focused and not let her emotions take over her usual calm and control, because if she loses her sight in anger, she will be more regretful.

She snoozes soundly with night birds softly chirp on their wake, she formed her new mission to set her sights on.

As the morning arrives, Veil made a gate towards the great library of Qua'ar.

If her theory that her very existence was erased by the Dark Clown was correct, then she must see if a higher Archangel was also affected.

She also belatedly realized that Lauron looked different, as if she grew taller and more matured.

As she arrived in front of the gate, she heard a voice in her head.

"I have been expecting you for so long. Come inside."

Veil tapped the invisible barrier from where she accepted the challenge and got warped inside the courtyard.

There, she was surprised by the changes, the size of the library doubled.

"Human, do you know how much time has passed since you disappeared?" Azazel asked.

"Esteemed Librarian, I do not know…" Veil answered in a worried voice.

"It has been a full decade, my hypothesis is that the Dark Clown must have tried juggling the time inside the space you were stuck in and was interrupted."

"During that interruption, the Dark Clown might have tuned in the time to flow faster than the outside world, which collided and made space-time damage."

"With that said, 10 years have passed and everyone you have interacted with has forgotten about you, the Dark Clown must have done something on that as well." Azazel explained in detail.

"Thank you Esteemed Librarian, but how are you the only one who remembers me?" Veil asked curiously.

"I was actually also affected by the Dark Clown's skill, which means their strength is now at least higher than Archangels of my level."

"Fortunately, I recorded your existence from when I transferred knowledge from my World Crystal to you."

"The floating magic orb that holds all information within my library is actually a World Crystal, although slightly different than the one you have absorbed." Azazel replied.

"Mhm, that makes sense, but how could I bring back everyone's memories?" Veil inquired.

"The damage is permanent, human, those who have forgotten your existence will not get their memories of you anymore." Azazel truthfully answered.

"…" Veil was visibly depressed.

"However, there is only one way." Azazel smiled.

As Veil hears that there is a solution, she was instantly elated, however, Azazel spoke in a grave tone.

"This involves you gaining a totally new identity on the Underworld."

"The Underworld is a massive Otherworld-like space within the planets' cores, the Underworld in your planet, Terra, is known as Zekerion."

"In Zekerion, there is a hierarchy among its Adventurers and through this hierarchy, you can gain massive power improvements."

"Upon reaching the apex of the hierarchy, you would have surpassed the likes of me, who cannot directly affect the rules of the world."

"With that power, you could then bring back your identity to those who have forgotten you." Azazel unhurriedly explained.

"Understood, Esteemed Librarian. If that is the only way that takes for me to bring back my existence, I will gladly do it." Veil declared with great determination.

"Very well, I shall warn you, all your current skills will not be available once I send you into the Underworld. Only your combat techniques will be retained." Azazel smiled as she waves her hands.

"Mhm, thank you again Esteemed Librarian Azazel." Veil lightly nodded before smiling widely to the librarian.

World Skill: Cosmic Traversal!

A massive gate with dark green lightning arcs rose up from the courtyard.

Beads of sweat formed on Azazel's forehead before she waved the human goodbye.

"I cannot maintain this for long, enter within 5 seconds!"

Veil nodded as she dashed through the gate before it disappeared.

"Good luck on your new journey, Veil." Azazel smiled while she breathes heavily.
