Flames of Revival

Mavis pondered for a long while, only silence remained of the chaotic battlefield.

She considered every possible cause, every choice and decision she made, which parameters has she overlooked.

Only one thing came up to her mind: what caused the dreams in the world?

If unknown entities could be birthed through emotions, then what is the origin of dreams?

The reason for all of this has started when she has dreamed of making her own world when she was still a child.

She missed the most important thing and that is the aspect of dreams within the system she wants to build.

If there is a God for dreams, then people would have one more thing to hold on to in their hopeless days.

However, she did not know that people could already dream, they are all free to do so and they have always known how to dream.

During sleep, during any time of the day.

[…]

Mavis suddenly spoke and talked to Veil, "Human, state me your name."

"My name is Veil." Veil finally stood back up from her knees, feeling greatly exhausted, she also feel the lack of the dark mana in her magic circuits.

The same could be said to her Umbralia, the dark mana is no more.

"I washed away every trace of your dark powers. But tell me, do you know the names of your parents?" Mavis asked an unusual question.

"No, I grew up in an orphanage…" Veil answered truthfully while remembering her painful days in that orphanage.

Veil does not know the name of her parents, but when she recalled all the events that transpired up to this point, she barely remembered bumping her shoulders on a couple when she travelled to the city of Plevo when the Gaias are just invading.

When she bumped the two, she felt an unexplainable sensation from her heart, but dismissed it that time.

"Supreme Being Mavis, what should we do now… Nothing remains of our world now, the resources are no more, and we would not be able to sustain the lives of the citizens we saved." Darthoxis kneeled in front of Mavis.

Mavis could not answer; she could not drop the truth to the pitiful survivors, the truth that this is under the parameters she set.

If their lives are to end here, she would not do something to change that, even if the events are a butterfly effect of Kafka's actions.

When she rethought of all the events since the beginning of her time, she suddenly remembered that she once had an idea to make a human counterpart of her, because she would not be able to leave her position in overseeing everything.

Thus, she created even her own parents, Vie'yan and Raltox, which served as Veil's parents, however, due to her actions, Veil's appearance timed to match the reemergence of the Dark Clown, the personification of negative emotions.

She just watched this human counterpart of her suffer through countless hardships, starting from the moment she was born, until she grows up, all she ever knew was to experience pain.

Mavis shed a tear which shocked Veil, Darthoxis and Sylphy.

"I indirectly made you suffer for your life… I thought you were my reflection, but you had it worse…" Mavis felt regretful when she looked at Veil.

"I do not know what it is that you have caused me, but I will rewrite everything myself." Veil answered with a determined face.

When Mavis heard the word rewrite, she considered making another timeline where things turned out to be different, "I could do that for you; I could rewrite the entire timeline-"

Before Mavis could finish her sentence, Veil cut in, "And then what, indirectly make me suffer again?"

Mavis could not respond.

"I will find out everything for myself and do everything my way, if you stop me, I would fight you myself." Veil's eyes flashed a cold look.

"Very well, I will not interfere from now on." Mavis' emotionless face returned and then disappeared into light.

"What do we do now… She is the Supreme Being, she could have fixed everything." Sylphy's anxiousness filled her voice.

"…" Darthoxis remained silent.

"I will find something out, for now, transfer Shurana near Alvanheim and expand it to hold the civilians inside Nerula's isolated space." Veil informed the two of the next course of action.

Darthoxis and Sylphy both nodded, the former opened up the network to Shurana and teleported there, while the latter teleported to Alvanheim, the two cities remaining in the entire Terra.

[…]

After seeing the two disappear, Veil picked up the Umbralia lying on the ground on where she defeated Cronos.

"Nightshade, when the Dark Clown Kafka impersonated you to deceive me, they said that you have existed since the beginning of time, is that true?" Veil talked to Nightshade, who has been sleeping inside the Umbral Reaver's handle.

"That is not entirely true; I have only existed since the planet Terra has been made. Among the various races, the Noctua is one of the pioneers in this world." Nightshade answered after a momentary silence.

"Then, can we make some form of skill to revive someone?" Veil asked in a curious tone.

"Certainly, with you reaching the level of the Gods, the Celestial Expanse, it should be possible." Nightshade unhurriedly explained.

"Very well, I plan to revive only a human, let's test it out." Veil searched for Runa's body from among the corpses littered in the battlefield.

Craters, blood, sand, weapons of varying sizes, crushed magic vehicles, all kinds of sights are everywhere.

After a handful of minutes searching, Veil spotted the barrier she casted on Runa as a protection, it seems like a golem stomped on the barrier which caused it to be buried on the ground, fortunately, Runa's body is safe and intact.

Veil constantly tried generating varieties of mana, envisioning what could bring back life force to a body.

She tested everything on her own magic circuits, mana is one of the foundations of every creature; if she could first make mana flow and circulates on Runa's magic circuits: Runa could theoretically exist as her spiritual form.

Veil spent months testing different mana techniques; Sylphy occasionally checks up on her and even reported the progress to her.

The Elves alive on Alvanheim were of a great help to the civilians and the survivors from the Blood War.

Due to their constant effort, the foundations of various buildings have already started, they would only progress once they all learn Elven techniques.

With Elven techniques, they do not have to mine for resources and materials to build infrastructures; they could just manifest them from mana.

Similarly, Shuranian engineers applied the techniques they used on building their own infrastructures from their city, saving a lot of time.

For a few more weeks up to a month, they would be able to progress at a better rate.

Sylphy also revealed her identity to the rest of the Elves, teaching them how to grow fruits in the World Tree using small sacrifices.

The Elves would offer their mana daily to the World Tree, slowly causing it to bear fruits that would serve as food for the survivors.

In truth, many people have already died due to hunger alone, the war stretched out for a while and they got stuck inside the isolated space, so their numbers were also culled down.

[…]

An entire year has passed since the Blood War, the humans and various races coexisting with the new Shurana and Alvanheim's expansion are now able to sustain themselves with the crops they grew.

They would not be able to breed animals anymore, but fortunately, the World Tree can.

Due to this, animals were restored in the small part of Terra, supplying the lives there with meals every day.

As for Veil's progress, she can now circulate someone else's mana on their magic circuits, the only thing Veil lacks now is whether Runa's consciousness and memories would return, or where they would even start in the first place.

Dismissing the thoughts flooding her mind, Veil visited Runa's resting place on Alvanheim, which is constantly supplying Runa's body with soothing mana of the World Tree.

Celestial Skill: Flames of Revival!

Bluish flames appeared on Veil's hands, brimming with life force and various mana types.

Veil then spread out the blue flames around Runa's body, igniting her magic circuits with the flames.

Vuishhh.

After seeing the magic circuits temporarily activate, Veil supplied Runa's mana with a constant circulation using the Umbralia.

As for the final step, Veil transferred a portion of her own soul to Runa's forehead, due to this, Veil's complexion darkened due to the temporary damage to her soul.

However, Runa finally opened her eyes!

"W-where am I?" Runa spoke with a weak voice.

"I brought you back for your grandfather. I hope you do not resent me for this." Veil admitted the truth; after all, she promised Gordo that she would be back.

However, since she regained her original body, she would not be able to do so anymore as Runa, thus, spending an entire year reviving the girl.

"Do not worry big sis, I will not hate you, I am a part of you, you know." Runa smiled brightly.

It seems that their memories have linked, which is why Runa knows Veil's goal.

Gordo was among that survived; he is even actively participating in planting and harvesting their crops.

In reality, Gordo was desperately working hard to find out about his grandchild, which is his only family remaining in the world.

"Go meet your grandfather now and tell him the stories of your adventure…" Veil wiped the tears in her eyes.

"Mhm, I will tell all the stories from the beginning." Runa got up after recovering most of her strength, Veil's progress on her body was still retained, thus, she grew taller and her muscles are visibly strong.

Veil quietly watched Runa excitedly hop out of the bed and climbed down the treehouse to search for her grandfather.
