2b's POV

"So how long have you been doing this?" asked Creed

Creed finished burying the dead and we headed towards our mission.

"What do you mean?" asked 9s

"How long have you been fighting the machines?" asked Creed

"I have no idea." replied 9s

Creed looks at 9s confused but just shrugged it off.

"Well, I do know that there were 14 machine wars." said 9s

"14 huh." repeated Creed

"Is there a problem?" I asked

"No, it's just, 14 is a lot." replied Creed

9s nudged me with his elbow getting my attention.

"Creed doesn't look so good." he whispered

I looked at Creed and he seemed pretty pale.

"Pod, check Creed's vital signs." I ordered

"Something wrong?" asked A2

Pod 042 started looking around Creed, checking his face.

"He's starving." said Pod 042

That's when I heard a rumble and I immediately sheathed my sword with A2 and 9s but Creed just stood still and rubbed his stomach.

"Sorry that was my stomach." said Creed

"What's wrong with your stomach?" asked A2 as she poked his stomach with the tip of her sword.

"Ow, stop it's not harmful or anything, I just need to eat something." replied Creed

"Humans need food and water in order to survive." said Pod 153

"Proposal, find something to eat." said Pod 042

"Nah I'm good, I can live without food for a couple days, besides we can't find anything to eat here." replied Creed

"Let's get this mission and get over with this." said A2

I grabbed Creed from the waist and threw him over my shoulder.

"What the heck, put me down I can walk on my own." said Creed

"We can't risk losing a human being." replied 9s

"But I'm not going to die." replied Creed, "And besides you guys are only taking care of me because I'm the last man in this world."

"That's not true." said 9s, "We're looking after you cause we're partners."

"Partners?" questioned Creed, "I prefer to work by myself."

"Shut up and stop moving." I said

"Look just put me down." said Creed

"No." I replied

Creed sighed and stopped moving around. We walked for about 30 minutes until we reached this huge sand dune.

"How are you not tired of carrying me?" asked Creed

I gently let him go on the sand and he gets up and starts walking up the sand dune. I walk up and when we get to the top I gasp.

There standing at the bottom of the sand dune was an endless formation of machines, big, small all kinds of machines, there was a whole army.

"We're fucked." whispered Creed

"We need to get back to camp." said A2

"9s contact Anemone." I told him

I was about to walk back down but an explosion hit us sending all us down the dune. I was able to stop myself from falling, same with A2 and 9s, but Creed kept tumbling down the dune until he hit the bottom of the sand dune.

I look up at the sand dune and saw machines approaching us. I sheathed my sword and swung at the first machine cutting it in half. Another came up but at the same time two others flanked my sides. I stabbed the one in front of me but the two machines on my sides were popped with a bullet in the head. I turn around to see Creed shooting his gun at every machines coming down the sand dune.

"We need to get back to camp!" yelled 9s

I grab 9s and start running down the sand dune with A2 close by. We began to run while Creed would sometimes turn around and shoot the machines that were getting closer to us.

"2b." Creed called out, "Get back to camp, I'll lure them away."

"Not happening." I replied

"They're after me, they'll follow me, you guys get back to camp and tell Anemone what's going on." he replied

"You're our priority we are not going to risk losing you!" I yelled at him

"The Resistance needs you more than they need me!" he yelled back

We kept running but Creed checked his gear.

"2b, even though I'm the last man standing, you haven't searched the world, there still might be another human being out there." said Creed

"Without you there will be no future!" I yelled

"But the future will still have you!" he yelled back, "As long as you're alive, you can end this and make the future better. You are the future!"

I looked at Creed as he gave me the serious eyes.

"You three are the future, don't lose it." he said

And with that we ran off in another direction, shooting to draw the machines' attention.

"Creed!" yelled 9s

"We have to keep moving!" yelled A2

We kept running and running until after about 25 minutes we got to the resistance camp. Anemone quickly came to us with Avery who seemed to be looking for Creed.

"Where's Creed?" asked Anemone

I stayed silent and just looked at the ground as I clenched my fists.

"He lured the machines away from us, gave us time to escape. The machines followed him, but I don't know if he made it or not." said A2

Anemone looked shocked from the news and kept shaking her head, refusing to believe that it was true.

"Once we had the chance to have a future, we fucking lost it." said Anemone quietly

"I'm sorry." I whispered

Avery didn't move, I couldn't tell if she was sad or not, I'm not the android to tell emotions.

"He's alive." said Avery

"What?" Anemone jerked up having some spark of hope.

"I know him, he's one of the best out of the best." replied Avery, "I hate to admit but he was one of my best men in the company."

"But this is different, we're talking about machines." replied 9s

"He'll find a way." replied Avery

"I'm going back out there, I need to find him." said A2

"No."

Everyone turns and looks at me.

"He doesn't want that, he wants us to live." I said, "That's why he lured them away."

9s looked at me with curiosity.

"He believed that we are the future not him, but us." I continued, "And I'm not going to let him down like that."

Avery sighs and rubs her forehead.

"Let's carry out the plan." she said

I nodded my head in response, but 9s looked bothered about something.

"Is there something wrong?" I asked

"Huh, no it's just, I'm worried for him." replied 9s

"Worried?" I asked

"Worried is when you have troubled feeling about something." replied Pod 042

"He'll be fine." I tried comforting him but it was hard since I don't know how to comfort others correctly.

"But how can we know for sure?" asked 9s

"We don't, we just have to trust him." I replied

9s walks over to a bench and sits down so I sit next to him.

"If we win, and all the machines are destroyed, what are we going to do?" asked 9s

"Just like Creed said, we are the future, we live." I replied
