4 Chapter 4 A Beautiful White Lotus

"Chuyan, what are you talking about? I stayed at home all night." Gu Miaoting spoke softly, her face turning pale and her eyes welling with tears. She looked as if she was unjustly accused, biting her red lip as large teardrops rolled down her face.

"Gu Chuyan, that's enough." Gu Yan defended Gu Miaoting immediately upon seeing this.

"Hehe." Gu Chuyan gave a soft laugh, standing up and casting a glance at Lian Zhenzhen and Gu Miaoting. She met Gu Yan's dark gaze and said softly, "Anyone who is oblivious would think that Gu Miaoting is your biological daughter, and that I am just someone you picked up..."

"Smack." Gu Yan stood up, his hand soaring upward to strike hard on Gu Chuyan's face.

Gu Chuyan was hit so hard that her face was turned to the side, her ears ringing and a salty taste in her mouth. It felt as if something was stuck in her throat, making her unable to speak.

It was painful, burning pain!

"Don't slander Miaoting. She is a good girl." Gu Yan's voice came as an irresistible command.

Gu Chuyan slowly looked up, her face bearing the imprint of his fingers. Her fair and delicate face was horribly swollen. Gu Yan unconsciously clenched his hand. At this moment, he felt a pang of pain in his palm. He didn't expect he would use so much force.

"Uncle, don't hit her. It's my fault! I shouldn't have revealed that Chuyan went out drinking." Gu Miaoting pleaded for her miserably, while in fact, she was pushing her into the abyss.

Hearing the words "went drinking," Gu Yan felt as if he had been greatly humiliated.

He pointed at Gu Chuyan and ordered, "Return to your room and reflect on your actions."

A smirk crossed Gu Chuyan's lips as she watched Gu Miaoting retreat cautiously, sobbing, and muttering, "Chuyan, don't look at me like that! I…I'm sorry."

As she spoke, she knelt down before Gu Chuyan and bumped her head on the floor.

"Miaoting, what are you doing? This matter has nothing to do with you! A woman should maintain her self-esteem. As for Chuyan, don't blame me for nagging - you should stop upsetting your father," Lian Zhenzhen "advised" kindly.

Gu Chuyan's smile deepened, she pointed at Lian Zhenzhen and said, "You are just a distant relative! Don't assume yourself as the lady of the house after moving into our home! You're not fit."

Upon seeing this, Gu Yan roared, "Someone, take her to her room to reflect on her behavior!"

Seeing the situation, the butler hurriedly stepped forward, pulling her, "Miss, let's go back to the room! Your face is swollen and bleeding, if you don't apply medication, I fear it will leave a scar."

Gu Chuyan shook off his hand, ran back to her room, and slammed the door shut.

The butler went in and got some ice for her to apply on her cheek, muttering, "Miss, don't lower yourself to their level! The master still cares about you, it's just…."

Gu Chuyan remained silent, closing her eyes. Her heart felt suffocated. More than a decade ago, Lian Zhenzhen brought Miaoting to the Gu family seeking refuge. It wasn't long before Miaoting changed her last name to Gu, purportedly for the convenience of attending school. But She could sense that they had ulterior motives.

She sat there in solitude, lost in thought for two hours without realizing it.

"Ring." At that moment, her cellphone rang. Seeing this, the butler, Afu, made his exit and closed the door behind him.

Looking at the call display, Gu Chuyan rolled her eyes, "What's up?"

"Chuyan, please come to the Blue Plum Cafe quickly." Gu Miaoting's anxious voice came through the phone from the other end. Just as she was about to respond, the call was hung up.

"What does she want with me?" Gu Chuyan let out a sardonic laugh. She and Gu Miaoting had always been at odds.

She pondered for a while. Curious about what Gu Miaoting wanted, she got up, changed her clothes, and left.
