11. The late night visit

It was late at night and Jiwoo and Eunwoo were fast asleep. The older felt someone's presence behind him making him snap his head in that direction. His eyes widened in fear seeing Amyeong leaning against the wall with his arms folded. For a couple of moments, they both observed each other but the fear in Jiwoo's eyes was evident. 'What's going on? I heard he got caught...' he thought.

"Pathetic. Kayden's only apprentice is lying down in a hospital like this... Did you know? That so many awakened ones wanted to be Kayden's apprentice?", asked Amyeong.

"I know."

"No, you have no idea." Said the older now walking toward the kid, "How powerful awakened ones wanted to be Kayden's apprentice. How they were even willing to be his henchman. That's how great an awakened one Kayden is. And Kayden is in danger because of you. Until now, those who were after Kayden didn't dare to challenge him. But since you became his weakness his enemies will use you to kill him."

He continued, "Wasn't even your force core shattered? That means your life as an awakened one is over, but why does Kayden have to risk his life for someone like you?"

Just then a black dagger was thrown at Amyeong which barely left a scratch on his cheek. The older looked at the bed beside Jiwoo's and found Eunwoo lying down with another dagger in his hand.

"Back off. You've done enough already", his effort to try to sound brave was evident.

"So you can create a dagger as well?", Amyeong questioned ignoring the younger's previous statement.

"Kill me", Jiwoo said. " I said kill me. That's what you came to do anyway."

Eunwoo despite not being strong enough at the moment created a shield around Jiwoo. "Don't touch him! I swear-"

But Amyeong had already broken his defense using his awakened ability because it was too weak this time. Since his shield broke Eunwoo gasped before coughing out some blood.

While Eunwoo was trying to recover from the pain, Amyeong held Jiwoo's neck in an attempt to choke him. That's when Kayden's words rang in his head, 'he didn't want anything from me.'

Releasing Jiwoo from his hold he said, "Something like this will happen again as long as you're Kayden's apprentice...They won't care about how you are."

"You're just leaving?", asked Jiwoo.

"I wasn't accepted like you were... But I also think of myself as Kayden's apprentice. Saying that he left the room.

Jiwoo sharply twisted in Eunwoo's direction and found the younger breathing heavily. There was blood near his lips which concerned Jiwoo.

"Oh! Are you alright Eunwoo?!", he asked worriedly.

The younger nodded. "I'll be fine..."

"You shouldn't overdo it." Said Kayden entering the room, "You've not even recovered so refrain from using awakened abilities anymore."

"Okay, Mr. Kayden."

"I came to check on you both after hearing about Amyeong's escape."

"Uhm, Mr. Kayden", Jiwoo said after the older sat on his bed. "Is Amyeong your apprentice too?"

Kayden looked at his sad expression. "No, I taught him a few things, but he's not my apprentice."

"I see..."

"How are you both feeling?"

"I feel like I'm ready to go home", Eunwoo whined. "I'm tired of hospital food. It's so bland."

Kayden chuckled. "Looks like you're healing well." Then he turned to Jiwoo.

"I've gotten better...", He said. "But it really hurts when I try to do force control."

"Of course it does, your force core is broken. For now, don't think about doing force control", said the elder while Jiwoo replied with a small 'yes'.

"You got here earlier than I thought", Kayden said.

"I got curious about what kind of help Kayden Break would need from me", Said Kartein. "I heard you were badly injured, so do you want me to heal you?"

"No, not me, but I need you to heal my apprentice."

This surprised the blond male. "What? Your apprentice?"
