chapter 8 The Duel: Hisoka vs. Togari

Hisoka pov

After admiring his masterpiece, Hisoka took a device and dived into the water. In five minutes, he had his fugu. He was about to return to finish his exam when suddenly, the alarm signaling the end of the exam sounded.

Togari, the examiner, approached and declared, "It's over. You failed."

A sly smile formed on Hisoka's lips. "Failed, you say? It seems I had a bit too much fun," he murmured to himself.

Togari looked at him with a mixture of disdain and suspicion. "The exam is over. Leave, now."

Hisoka, his eyes gleaming with mischief, stepped closer to Togari. "And what if I wanted a bit more fun? After all, I haven't had my adrenaline rush today."

Togari clenched his fists, ready for anything. "I'm not here to play, Hisoka. You've been warned."

Hisoka burst into an unsettling laugh that echoed around the lake. "Oh, but that's exactly what I wanted to hear."

In an instant, Hisoka attacked. His playing cards appeared between his fingers, launched with deadly precision towards Togari. The latter dodged the first cards with remarkable agility, but Hisoka didn't stop there. Using his Bungee Gum, he pulled the cards back to him, immediately launching them again at Togari.

Togari used his saber to parry the attacks, slicing through the cards with precision. He then charged at Hisoka, his saber gleaming in the sunlight. Hisoka barely dodged, still laughing.

"Not bad, but it's not enough," Hisoka said, his eyes locking onto the examiner's with an icy intensity.

Togari didn't respond, preferring to let his actions speak. He changed his tactics, using unpredictable movements to destabilize Hisoka. The two fighters engaged in a fierce duel, as Hisoka tested Togari's limits.

Using his Bungee Gum, Hisoka created an invisible web around Togari, seeking to trap him. But Togari, anticipating the move, used his saber to cut through the Nen threads, meeting resistance but eventually severing them.

"Not bad," Hisoka murmured, a predatory smile on his face. "But I'm not done yet."

Hisoka intensified his attacks, combining his cards and Bungee Gum to create complex traps. Togari, though on the defensive, managed to dodge most of the attacks. Their fight seemed evenly matched, each move meticulously calculated and executed.

Suddenly, Hisoka changed tactics. Using his Bungee Gum to latch onto the remaining web attached to Togari's blades, he launched a series of cards that Togari parried with his blades. Hisoka took the opportunity to yank the blades from Togari's hands, who struggled to keep hold of his weapons, nearly stumbling. Hisoka seized the moment to attack at close range.

Togari, surprised by the speed of the attack, couldn't completely evade it. The cards slashed deeply across his face several times, but he quickly countered, striking Hisoka with the hilt of his saber.

Hisoka stepped back, a look of satisfaction in his eyes. "Finally, some real fun," he murmured.

But Togari, bleeding but not defeated, stood up, ready to continue the fight. "I'm going to kill you, bastard," he said firmly.

The two fighters glared at each other, ready to resume their duel when suddenly, an authoritative voice interrupted their confrontation.

"That's enough!"

Other Hunters serving as examiners appeared, their aura speaking for them, dominating the area and expressing their displeasure at the fight. "Hisoka, Togari, stop immediately."

Hisoka, visibly annoyed by the interruption, relaxed his combat stance. "What a shame, we were just starting to have fun." Deep down, he knew he couldn't kill all these examiners. After all, he didn't want to attract a monster into his web... not yet, at least.

Hisoka thought, "They should be grateful their combat skills are so inadequate. I just wanted to help."

Togari lowered his saber, keeping a vigilant eye on Hisoka. "We're not done yet, you'll see, Hisoka."

The head examiner approached. "Hisoka, you broke the rules of the exam. You are disqualified."

Hisoka shrugged, an enigmatic smile on his face. "I suppose I'll have to find another playground... next year."

Togari, though injured, stood up and walked away, leaving Hisoka under the watchful eyes of the Hunters present. The Hunter exam continued, but the shadow of the confrontation lingered, a reminder of the constant danger Hisoka represented, making it clear that, to him, they were all just players in his game.

Amori pov

All the candidates felt a shiver and quickly distanced themselves. What they had witnessed led some to understand that there was more to gain in this exam than they had anticipated.

Amori and his brothers watched the fight unfolding before their eyes. They could barely distinguish the movements. "Watch closely. This is the power we came to seek," Amori said.

No response came from his brothers, but he knew they too desired this incredible power called Nen.
