The dragon knights, a special part of the military where certain individuals are picked from the best, train with a certain dragon, it is a long and hard process many die simply trying to learn to work with the dragons on this kind of level, but it is an honored tradition and both dragon and people that can work out there differences and pass are held with the highest honor. Most knights work in teams of two, so both dragons and knights can cover each other on both ground and air.
Though the dragon knights are the best, the public doesn't see it that way, with the recent break-in and killing of the queen, as well as the disappearance of the princess, we have been shamed and looked down upon recently, but with the upcoming days, I say we may have a chance to redeem ourselves.
" Lucy… Lucy.. Lucy!" Something yelled at me, "what is it, cypher?" I asked looking down at her, cypher being the dragon I was paired with when I was chosen, she was a medium dragon with decently big wings, with a even bigger ego, then again I can't blame her for the ego, she has always been the best, the ruler of the sky's in her category, only ever being beaten by bigger more powerful dragons, but even then she's always held her own. And with me being the reasonable more calm one of us, we were a interesting pair most thought we would fall apart but instead we rose up.
"Look down below," swing to the left side of her, I could see a little commotion in the town we were being station at as a 'punishment' for letting the princess disappear after the killing of the queen.
We have fucked up to many times to the point we were no long assigned to the Royal family and were positioned to one of these backwater towns.
The main reason for these towns to be defended is because they are amazing trading and rest spots, especially for big groups, with the one we are at being primarily a farming village.
"Looks like the town guards are arguing with our forces," cypher said, letting out a puff of smoke she flys down tot he middle of the town, the villagers scattering as to not get crushed, "their scared of us," I said looking at the faces of scared children, " I wonder why, I doubt any of them have actually seen one of my kind before, being this far away from the central kingdom and all."
Nodding agreement i take a look around making sure everyone is behaving and not doing anything suspicious around my troops, that is until I notice a guard walking towards us, He is better armor than the other guards and shaggy hair with a hint of light purple in his eyes, he looksto have a decent build, while being on the shorter side he has the air of Authority, that's cannot be said about the people next to him, they all have intimidating luxe and strange armor and clothing definitely not villager clothing, not even guard clothing for that matter and they carry strange metal staffs as well as other random items on them.
"Now why do we have the pleasure of having legendary Dragon knights in our small little village?" The guard asked, I can see him giving me a small inspection, as if he's sizing me up he definitely gives my dragon a second glance as if not seeming to impressed, and she seems to notice that.
"Watch your tongue, human," cypher says giving him a small growl, The growl seems to alerts the strange people behind the guard and they seem to tighten their grips on the metal staffs, "now tell me who are these strange people hmm?" I ask, " that is none of your concern, tho you can question them all you like, they don't speak our language we've been communicating so far through hand signs and drawing in the dirt."
This causes cypher to growl in amusement, "how bloody primitive, and they say my species is primitive in how we acted, at least we had the decency to learn another's language."
Before we can continue one of the strange people tap The guard on the shoulder and make a hand motion, The Guard nods and the people start to walk away. They then turn a corner and disappear behind a building.
" that's not sketchy at all." Cypher comments, "thanks captain, you think I don't know that, that's why I'm gonna have a couple of my scouts follow them." Motioning to a couple of my best soldier, then quickly order them to follow those people and then wash them head off and disappear behind the same building except with a little more stealth involved.
(Hey people sorry if it's to short or doesn't make much sense, was kinda rushing Thai one so I could focus on the next chapter, so again sorry for its shortness, the next chapter will be a lot more meaningful and actually of the unsc involved in a battle)
