1 Prologue: Welcome to Despair Island
(Author's note: Welcome to my first webnovel fanfic and my Danganronpa AU. I already have my Class Swap AU on Wattpad, but I abandoned that. This is only gonna be a simple AU: basically the casts of Goodbye Despair and Killing Harmony swap games! Let me explain this AU for any confused readers: The V3 Characters will be on Jabberwock Island, and the Characters from Danganronpa 2 will be in the Gifted Inmates Academy. We hope you all enjoy this adventure.)

Hope's Peak Academy. If there was a top 10 Japanese High Schools list, Hope's Peak Academy would place first. It was a high school who accepted the best students at their respective talents.
You could only become an Ultimate Student at Hope's Peak if you were first a high school student and second you were the best at your talent.
Fortunately, seventeen-year-old Kaito Momota happened to meet both of these requirements. Just by looking at him, Kaito seemed just like your average high school student. He wore a white shirt patterned with red, a cream inner jacket, and a purple second jacket (the inside of which was embroidered like the solar system) which hung over one of his shoulders. He had purple pants (the same color as his jacket) and silver shoes. His look was finished off with dark purple, slightly disheveled hair (which had an ahoge sticking out of the top) and he had a dark purple goatee which he didn't mind. In a nutshell, it was safe to say that Kaito Momota did not have an ultimate talent.
Kaito's past was a bit questionable, too. Typically, astronauts only get into the astronaut program when they're old enough. However, Kaito only got into the astronaut program due to forgery. Because of this, Kaito was very insecure about his talent and believed he didn't deserve the luxury of an Ultimate Title. Regardless, Kaito was just a kid who loved space. After all, he said "To make your dreams come true, you've got to be a bit reckless!"
One day, Kaito found a letter in his postbox.
He read it:
"Dear Kaito Momota….
You have been chosen to attend Hope's Peak Academy as the Ultimate Astronaut. You'll be apart of our most successful class. Class 77-B, to be more precise!
Kaito Momota, your future starts now!"
There was a section that was hidden, though.
Kaito overlooked it and stuffed it in his pocket.
Thankfully, Hope's Peak Academy was just a short train ride away.
When he got there, Kaito ran towards the school.
"Class 77-B, here I come!" Kaito said.
But when he got to the entrance, Kaito felt himself get strange, and then he felt himself falling into darkness as his world faded to black…

"Hey! Wake up! Are you awake?"
Kaito Momota woke up extremely groggy, and he found himself lying on the warm, golden sand of a beach.
"Wait, this doesn't look like Hope's Peak Academy," he said, rubbing his head.
"Good, you're awake." said a voice.
"It's nice to see that you finally woke up!" said another voice.
Kaito stood up to see two people standing. One had shaken him awake, and he was a boy who wore a hat. The second person was a girl who had blond hair with an ahoge, too.
"What are your names?" asked Kaito, dusting some sand off his jacket.
The boy pulled his hat over his eyes, and sighed. "My name is Shuichi Saihara. I'm the Ultimate Detective."
"And I'm Kaede Akamatsu!" said the blond girl. "I'm the Ultimate Pianist! It's nice to meet you! Shuichi is very timid by the way."
Suddenly, an announcement played.
"This is Jabberwock Island!" said a voice. "You're on the first island. Check your letter."
Kaito checked the hidden section of his letter (which he took out of his pocket) and read:
"You have to study with the other members of class 77-B on Jabberwock Island, a tropical island with five islands, though."
"That wasn't on the letter I received." said Shuichi.
"No one is allowed on this island, save for me, my little sister, and the 21 students here!"
"21?" asked Kaede.
"The other 18 all likely woke up on a beach, too." theorized Shuichi.
"Let's meet those 18 other students!" said Kaito.
So Kaito, Kaede and Shuichi walked down the golden beach.
"Pretty tropical, I gotta say," a new voice suddenly said from nearby. The trio turned to the source of the speaking, only to see a tall, thin
young man leaning against a tree. He had ocean green, approximately hip-length hair.
"As an anthropologist, this will be the perfect place to study my work! By the way, my name is Korekiyo Shinguji, and I am called the Ultimate Anthropologist. But please, just address me as Kiyo."
"Nice to meet you, Kiyo." said Kaito.
"I'm Kaito Momota and these are my friends Kaede and Shuichi."
Suddenly, Shuichi noticed something.
"Footprints!" He said.
"Kiyo couldn't have possibly left them here," said Kaede.
"Let's follow them!" said Kaito.
The trio walked on, following the footprints.
After a few seconds, they came to another section of the beach.
There was a girl with long blue hair and glasses standing there.
"I'm pretty plain…" said the girl. Before she turned to Shuichi, Kaede and Kaito.
"My name is Tsumugi Shirogane, the Ultimate Cosplayer. From the bottom of my heart, I hope we can get along."
"You're a cosplayer?" said Kaito. "I'm Kaito Momota, the Ultimate Astronaut, and these are my friends Kaede Akamatsu, Ultimate Pianist, and Shuichi Saihara…"
"You can call me the Ultimate Detective." finished Shuichi.
"Well, isn't this a nice bonding experience?" A second voice said in a jaded alt-rock-esque baritone.
Its owner, a short boy, appeared.
"Whoa. You are a really fa... fabulous... boy." said Kaito.
"Oh. You're very kind. I usually hear "fat."" said the boy.
"I didn't want to be fat-shaming!" Kaito insisted.
"They call me Ryouma Hoshi, Ultimate Tennis Pro. And that's all I have to say on the matter." the boy said.
"Well, he's gonna be fun." said Shuichi.
"I love making friends with fun
people!" said Kaito.
"I was being sarcastic!" said Shuichi.
Next, the trio came to a dock.
"Get me out of here!" groaned one voice.
"If we can all work together," said another voice. "We can get each other off here."
"Wherever here is," said a third voice.
"This sea air can't be good
for my skin. Unless it is. Is sea air good for your skin? Has anyone seen the research on this?" asked a fourth voice.
"But for now, our sisterly leader will take care of us." reassured a fifth voice.
"God, I hate this job." sighed the second voice.
"What's going on here?" asked Kaito.
"Allow us to introduce ourselves," enthusiastically said a short dark red haired girl who had a long sleeved white top, a red skirt with the Japanese kanji for "sister" printed out on it (the same color as her eyes) a black scarf, red boots, a silver star hair clip and the tips of her hair were dyed white. "I am Hikari Tachibana. I'm the Ultimate Eldest Sister!"
So that explained the skirt.
Next, a girl with pale pink eyes, waist length light pink hair tied into a ponytail with a short white ribbon, a dark pink flower hair clip in her hair, a white button up blouse, a pink tie, a dark pink skirt, white socks and bubblegum pink Mary Janes waved.
"Hi, I'm the Ultimate Botanist. The name's Sumire Tachibana, by the way."
Then a medium length blond haired girl with gold eyes, a brown blazer, a yellow tie, a black skirt, black and yellow striped tights, brown loafers and glasses cleared her throat.
"I am Britney Tachibana, the Ultimate Journalist! At least until we get some answers, I will take care of you."
A long, armpit-length, lime green haired girl who had an ahoge sticking out of the top, white highlights, had one bang covering her left eye (both of her eyes were a lovely spring green), a grayish white button up, a light green pleated skirt, green and dark green spotted stockings and black flats sighed.
"H-Hi…. I'm Amai Tachibana… I-I'm the Ultimate Hacker. Charmed, I'm sure."
Finally, a girl who had shoulder length dark blue hair with light blue streaks, a blue ribbon attached to a blue headband, a black long sleeved top, a blue skirt, a dark blue tie, light blue stockings, electric blue shoes, and neon blue eyes spoke up:
"My name is Katsumi Tachibana, Ultimate Guitarist! I don't wish to hurt anybody here unless necessary, so… please, I hope it's a pleasure to meet you."
"Are you five girls related?" Kaito asked.
"Yes," said Hikari. "We're sisters to be more precise….!"
"Amai is even more timid than me!" said Shuichi.
"Why aren't you confident Shuichi?" asked Amai.
"I'm working to become more assertive." said Shuichi.
"That's nice to hear!" said Amai.
Kaito, Kaede and Shuichi went on their way.
Next, they came to the local park, Jabberwock Park.
There were four people there: a tan girl, a girl in a rather…. interesting blue frilly seifuku, a red haired girl, and a cute looking girl with lengthy sable hair tied in lower twin tails.
Kaito first went to talk to the tan girl.
"Hello, there! I am Angie Yonaga, the Ultimate Artist!" The girl said.
Then Kaito's eyes were drawn to the red haired girl, the girl with the blue seifuku, and the sable haired cutie.
He walked over.
Shuichi and Kaede were already taking to Blue Seifuku and Red Hair.
"I'm Tenko Chabashira, the Ultimate Aikido Master! I don't like men, though." said the girl who had been talking to Shuichi.
"Here marks the arrival of Himiko Yumeno, sorceress extraordinaire! I'm also the Ultimate Magician." said the girl who had been talking to Kaede.
The sable girl turned to Kaito.
"Maki Harukawa, Ultimate Child Caregiver," she introduced. "I'll introduce myself, not that I wanted to."
"Do you like kids?" asked Kaito.
"I don't like kids. I hate them." said Maki.
They left the park, and came to a barn.
"This is Jabberwock Farm!" read Kaito, looking at a sign.
The trio entered the barn.
Suddenly, they heard two voices.
"Hey!" shouted one voice.
"Is it too rough?" asked another voice.
Suddenly, a muscular man appeared. He was carrying a box. In that box was a short boy with messy black hair tipped purple at the ends matching his eyes, wearing a white straitjacket-style uniform with a white and black checkered scarf. The boy was looking very angry.
"This is very uncomfortable. I hope you're not gonna be like this the whole trip. I am the Ultimate Supreme Leader! Remember?" said the boy in the box.
"S-Sorry," stuttered the muscular man.
He then put down the box.
"That's better," the boy said, stepping out.
"All bow down to Kokichi Oma, the Ultimate Supreme Leader!"
"It's a pleasure to meet you, your highness." Kaito said.
"I'm the supreme leader of an evil secret organization." said Kokichi. "So that makes me super rich! And i'm a compulsive liar."
He then made a scary face.
Just then, a trash can flew into the air and slammed down onto Kokichi.
"Are you okay, your majesty?!" said Kaito as he removed the garbage can.
When he took it off, Kaede and Shuichi had to put their hands over their mouths to stifle their laughter.
Kokichi was covered in brown mud and green slime. Bits of rotten meat stuck to his clothes, there was a fish bone stuck to his scarf, and a banana peel hung from his head. Flies danced around him.
"Yuck!" He said in disgust. "How could you cover his grace in garbage?!"
"Sorry, my liege." said the muscular man.
"I didn't mean to knock over that trash can. I forgot to introduce myself. How rude. Gonta's name is Gonta Gokuhara, the Ultimate Entomologist."
"Clean me up now!" ordered Kokichi. "You can't leave the supreme overlord looking like a dirty hobo!"
"I'm sorry." Goku said. "I'll clean you up now."
Kokichi made his scary face again as he and Goku walked off.
"Me and Kokichi are off to a bad start," said Shuichi.
"Why?" asked Kaede.
"He was like 'I'm Kokichi Ouma, the Ultimate Supreme Leader, and I'm a liar, and I MAKE THIS FACE!' That face is going to haunt my nightmares."
Suddenly, they heard two voices.
"Do you need my service?" asked one voice.
"No! I'm fine!" said another voice.
The sources of the voices appeared. One was a woman who was dressed like a maid, and the second was a boy who had spring green hair with luscious eyes to match.
"What's your name?" Kaito asked the green haired boy.
"My name is Rantaro Amami. I can't remember my Ultimate talent at the moment... But I promise I'm not a bad guy. Nice to meet you." said the green haired boy.
"You don't know what your talent is? That is an interesting prospect on its own!" said Kaito.
"It can be assumed by me personally that it will come back to me at some point." said Rantaro.
"Oh, where are my manners?" asked the maid. "My name's Kirumi Tojo, the Ultimate Maid. If you ever need my service, feel free to ask!"
"Nice to meet you, Rantaro and Kirumi." said Kaito.
"I assume you already met my sweet boyfriend Kiyo," said Kirumi.
"We already have," said Shuichi.
"I'll let my boyfriend know!" said Kirumi.
They left the barn.
The trio headed to a beach next.
Suddenly, a voice shrieked.
"Get your pervy hands off me." said the voice.
"Get those robotic arms away from me!" said a second voice.
Suddenly, a robot and a girl who looked very pretty in her candy-pink seifuku appeared. The girl was clinging onto the robot.
The girl got off the robot.
"That's better," said the robot.
"Now, I am K1-B0, the Ultimate Robot. But please address me as Kiibo."
"I'm the girl genius whose gorgeous looks and golden brain will go down in history! I'm the one, the only, the legendary Ultimate Inventor herself…. Miu Iruma!" the pink seifuku girl introduced dramatically.
"Hi, I'm Kaito and these are my friends Kaede and Shuichi." Kaito said.
A different voice from the one Kaito had heard when he had woken up announced something:
"Class 77-B has met each other! So meet at the central plaza for more information about this Heart Throbbing School Trip!"

Kaito, Shuichi and Kaede went to the central plaza, where the rest of Class 77-B was standing.
And that was when something jumped out of the water and landed on the ground.
"What is THAT?!" asked Kokichi (now garbage free).
"It looks like some kind of stuffed animal." said Kirumi.
"I'm not a stuffed animal. I'm Miracle Magical Girl Usami, or Usami for short! I may not look like it but I'm your squeeze-ably soft teacher!" said the stuffed animal. "Now let the Heart Throbbing School Trip commence!"
"Heart-Throbbing School Trip?" asked Kaito.
"Yes," said Usami. "You will be spending the rest of your school years on this tropical island called Jabberwock! You're on a school trip. This school trip is meant to be for the 21 Ultimate Students here only, and those students are you! Make friends, and this is going to be the most perfect school trip ever! I'll lead you to your hotel!"

"This is Hotel Mirai," said Usami as she stood nearby a hotel. "It has 21 bedrooms, all of which are fit to your talents. They're the perfect places to train your talents!"
"Can we explore?" asked Kaito.
"You can explore tomorrow," Usami said strictly.
"Now we must gather again in the central plaza."

The 21 of them were standing in the main plaza again.
"And now.." said Usami as she gave the students 21 pads. These were the E Handbooks.
Before she could finish her sentence, something fell down from the sky and landed on the ground in front of them.
"Who the fucking hell are you?!" asked Miu.
"I am Monokuma, the owner of this island!" said the bear. "And that twat Usami is no match for me!"
"Who are you calling a twat?!" said Usami angrily, holding a magical wand, but Monokuma snapped it.
"Dun-dun-da-dahhhhh...victory!" He proclaimed, looming over her. "Now, what to do after my flawless victory...first of all, you're too plain! White rabbits are fair too plain! Soooo, I'm gonna remake you to resemble my glorious visage! Prepare yourself for the Monokuma makeover!"
The two proceeded to brawl, kicking up a cloud of dust.
"Ugh! Stop it!" Usami cried. The dust cleared, and now the weeping rabbit was half pink and half white, wearing a diaper.
"Ta-da! The epitome of fashion! I hereby dub you...Monomi!"
"What's happening?" Goku asked.
"As of today, this school trip is now under my jurisdiction! And for my first act as the lead teacher of this trip...I'm gonna make some changes! First, this field trip has no end date! And second… Heart Throbbing School Trip?! YUCK! That's so sappy. What about I spice it up a bit? Welcome to the Island Life of Mutual Killing! Or in simpler terms, the Killing School Trip!"
"Killing?!" said Rantaro.
"You're right, Rantaro Amami kun!" said Monokuma. "Kill one of your friends and you can end the field trip and leave the island!"
"This is horrific enough," said Kaito.
"You're right, Kaito Momota kun, but there's more!" said Monokuma. "If you get caught, you die."
The students looked at each other in horror. "Oh no." said Kirumi.
"Don't think about trying to escape either!" Monokuma said. He blew a whistle, and five robots arrived.
"The person who breaks the rules will meet my new friends who helped make this field trip possible - the Monobeasts!" Monokuma motioned to the Mono Beasts, who had assorted threatening looks on their faces. Many students looked shocked.
"I-I don't want to die!" said Amai.
"Now then...enjoy the rest of your school trip! Ta-ta! I have work to do!"
And with that, he was off, Monomi and his Monobeasts vanishing along with him.
Everyone looked at each other in fear.
Their excitement had been replaced with fear. Fear that one of their own might turn on them. Fear that they would not survive. Fear that might drive them to spill someone's blood.
"Actually, fear is not the right word." thought Kaito. "The word I'm looking for is… despair."
And that's how Kaito Momota found himself living on the Island of Despair. But his troubles were only just beginning...
