I was living in an alternate world where once marked, the eyes turned red and the first to fall in love was you. I was marked when drunk. The person that marked me unknown, probably living a life of promiscuity. I was just a college student and the person I liked would never glance my way, not in this lifetime or the next. He was dating my sister. I learned my lesson before multiple times, starting a new relationship, dating then breakup.... They all ended the same way and I often ended up getting hurt. This was well proven well by my savior, my rescuer who hated me just as much as I despised him. Never will I ever love again *** DISCLAIMER: The picture used as the book cover is not mine. "You look much better than the last time I saw you Mijin. Mom and dad told me you are recuperating well and I'm sorry I hadn't much time to see you before but I'll be spending a few days here before I can resume my errands."

Silence

"I seems you wish to rest some more. I only came here to check on you since I've been worried about you...and so has he." Yeon added, glancing at a taut Stan sitting beside him. It felt awkward that his gaze was fixated on his fated and that made Yeon uncomfortable.

Seeing that it was futile conversing with his sister, Yeon opted to leave. "I'll be in my room if you need me. I hope you wouldn't mind if I pop in from time to time to check on you."

Seeing that it was futile conversing with his sister, Yeon opted to leave. "I'll be in my room if you need me. I hope you wouldn't mind if I pop in from time to time to check on you."

Standing up, Yeon cleared his sister's untouched meal and was about to exit when Mijin stopped him, grabbing him by his arm.

"Take him with you." She gestured with her chin at Stan, who seemed reluctant about leaving.

Sighing, Yeon tugged his fated's shoulder. "Let's go."

"Sorry for what you had to endure Mijin, however, don't lock out Yeon from caring about you." Stan spoke while still sitted down.

"This is not the right time so please, read the room." Yeon warned angrily.

"No. I don't want to leave just yet. I understand how she feels but I can't watch you two grow apart over something that is neither your faults."

"Get out..!" Mijin shouted and looked up at her brother still holding her untouched tray. "You two came here to mock me didn't you?"

"No Mijin... I... We really are concerned for your welfare. Stan's dad is in the living room talking to mom and dad. I hope you can let him check on your well being as well."

Stan had sturbbonly followed him all the way to his parents place insisting he was tired from the silent treatment Yeon has been giving him. He'd hopped in forcefully after dad Robin had hinted on him that Yeon would be spending a couple of days at his parent's place. Unable to fathom spending days without seeing Yeon, he waited patiently until morning, catching Yeon and dad Joss sneaking out as if they were doing something wrong.

"Caught in the act."

"Agh! The heck! What are you doing sitting outside the front porch in the middle of the night?" Dad Joss had jumped up in shock at the sight of his son. Yeon on the other hand was too startled to even form a few words. It had been five in the morning, pitch black. Stan had been adamant about seeking audience with his fated who'd denied him an opportunity to converse with him for days that if it weren't for dad Robin, he'd have woken up in an empty house again, feeling alone and abandoned.

"Go back to sleep..." dad Joss had insisted

"No. I'm going where you two are sneaking off to."

"It's none of your business..." Yeon cut in.

"You've forced me to resort to such desperate measures just so I can talk to you so I'm not going to listen to you anymore. I'll do whatever I want so let's go." Stan quickly grabbed Yeon's hand, dragging him along with him towards his father's car.

"Hey! I'm going to see Mijin!"

"Why would you not want me to see her too?"

"I'll come back in a few days!" Yeon spoke as he desperately tried to free himself from Stan's tight grip and in one swift move, Stan lifted him, landing him on his shoulder and holding him by his legs.

"Hey...! Put me down!"

"Dad, let's go!" Stan yelled, throwing a glance at his father.

"No....! Put me down this instant Stan!"

Yeon had kicked and squirmed with no success. Stan's grip on him had been strong as expected and in as much as he'd wanted to push him away using his scent, he decided against it in the presence of dad Joss, who seemed to be enjoying the scene between them both.

The entire ride was a loud uncomfortable silence but not for dad Joss whom as usual was happily humming himself away to the music playing in the radio. On the other hand, both Stan and Yeon had their eyes outside, successfully ignoring the other.

"Fine then. Let him stay if he wishes." Mijin covered herself with her duvet and laid down. "I don't care anymore, neither do I have the energy to deal with him..."

"Hey, that's not why Yeon came here. Can't you just cooperate? Don't you want this case to end? If you keep quiet the way you are you're only giving the rest of us a hard time! Everyone from Elric's mother to my parents are working hard to end this facade! I'm tired of it all! Aren't you? Or do you wish for something else to happen to someone yet again!"

Silence

"For fucks sake Mijin! End this!"

"Stop!" Yeon exclaimed. "What the hell is wrong with you? Can't you see she is still hurting? Have you no compassion for anyone else? Or you only show it when it comes to you and I only?"

"I do but I've had it with everything... Something doesn't feel right, I feel it in my gut and I know... I know all is not settled."

"Let's talk outside Stan."

"No little brother. Let him clear his head and end it. Once he is done, both of you can leave." Mijin sat up again, pulling the duvet up to her neck.

"Mijin..." Yeon called out desperately at his frail sister who'd locked eyes with Stan as if they were in some staring contest. "It's still too early to get into an argument and besides, you're in no shape to be discussing such matters especially not with someone like him."

"I liked him first." Mijin simply stated. "Just like you liked Niel."

"What?" Yeon stiffened. "You're only saying that because you're emotional and you want to push me away."

"It's true." Looking at Stan, Mijin probed. "Ask him to confirm if I'm lying then."

"I know of Yeon's former feelings toward Niel but he likes me now. What does it matter anyway? Niel is fated to Elric and so I'm I to Yeon, a bond that can not be broken...."

"I was right." Mijin scoffed as she battled with her grief. Raising her head to look at the ceiling, she fannned her welling eyes. "So you did come here to mock me afterall. Well, you've been successful. I deserve it...everything that has happened to me, I deserve it all..."

A tinge of giolt in him, Stan spoke. "No one deserves what you went through. You shouldn't think that way..."

"Stop with the false concern Stan. Spare me the pretense at least especially now... I can't take it. Treat me harshly the way you used to since your concern for me is obviously superficial..." Mijin wept briefly as she struggled to control her tears. She hadnt expected to break down infront of her brother and definately not in the presence of his fated either. It made her feel weak and she hated it. Muffling her cries, she added. "Tell me why you rejected me. If you are honest, I might actually start believing you came here because you care."

"Mijin..." Yeon called out but stopped when hissister raised her hand up towards him

"Little brother, I need closure and if you continue interrupting, I'd feel shittier than I already am."

Turning her gaze towards Stan, she asked. "I'm I not pretty? I may not be now but I'm sure I was before..."

"That's not why I couldn't accept your advances."

"Then why..."

"You made it clear that you belonged to everyone else just like Elric did. If I accepted your advances, I'd want to keep you to me and me alone. I'm just selfish that way."

After a long silence, Mijin sniffed as she wiped her tears away and laughed. "What a shitty excuse. As if I'd believe that."

"It's the truth and whether you believe it or not, it's none of my concern. At the moment, our priority is seeing you recover."

"I've had enough from you two. You've done what you came for and I can assure you I'm well and still strong willed. Whatever happened to me will not make me bow my head to anyone. Is that enough proof to you two that I'm okay?"

Staring at the scar on her neck, Yeon couldn't help feeling uneasy and Mijin noticed his stare. She raised her hand, hiding it from his view with her palm.

"Fine then." Stan finally stood up. "As Yeon said, we plan on sticking around for a few days..."

"Hey, it's only me that's staying behind..."

"Can you two proceed with your fight outside? You're giving me a migraine."

"Sorry." Yeon apologized and requested Stan to open the door for him, complaining about the tray he'd been holding for sometime becoming heavy.

"Stan..." Mijin called out just after Yeon had left. "You're not the only one crazy about my brother therefore if anything happens to him, I promise you that I'm going to kill you."

"Is that a warning? Or are you trying to play a trick on me like last time?"

Mijin's response was only a blank stare and this irritated Stan further. The last time Mijin had spoken in riddles, he had ended up using the power of fated mates.

"Tell me the truth. Is Yeon in danger?"

"What do you think? If you're sensing it, then I'm probably right however, if you like, you can ignore my warning. I don't care anymore."
