Chapter 3

My town believes in this myth- it's actually the only unscientific thing that Eldiment town believes. And I have no idea why, but this is literally taught at my school.

So the myth goes that in the 3rd century B.C., there was a massive war between 2 empires, the Kitshells and the Shelsoqua. This raging war resulted in the Kitshells killing every one of the Shelsoqua- well, almost everyone. 3 people managed to escape and took refuge in a house, The Horrors House, which strangely enough, was house number 666 on Eldiment village road.

I shuddered as I realized that that was exactly where I was.

Anyway, those 3 people started having an argument, and 1 of them, Ghost- that was literally his name- managed to kill the other 2. And since Ghost was a professional in the Dark Arts, he made himself immortal, using the blood of the other 2.

See what my History teacher made me remember? Ha. There is a reason why I hate this subject so much!

But the myth doesn't end there. It continues saying that the person whoever knocks on the front door of that house the thirteenth time will cause Ghost, who was trapped because of a tiny mistake in his immortality spell, to break free from those traps. The only problem was that he would also emerge as a demon.

Chill after chill rolled down my spine as I realized I had rung it the 10th, 11th, 12th and... 13th time. Was math failing me? Did I forget how to count? Or did I just make a terrible mistake?

I knew I only had a few seconds to act. I quickly ran back to the car and turned on the ignition and pressed hard on the accelerator. Just as the car started moving, I saw the door of house 666 open, and there he was. Ghost. A disgusting looking humanoid-like creature.

And as I quickly sped away from the house, Ghost turned and saw my speeding car, with me in it.
