Never Die Like A Lion

After an unfortunate gamble, Miles finds himself in a familiar world but in an unknown body. It was a world he himself had created and himself destroyed. He had become an unimportant character in his novel, a character whose death was of no importance to the plot. His death meant the end of everything, and he would have to do everything to save this world or suffer the consequences.

Chapter 12 : Bad News

"What?! A thousand alliance dollars for simple camping gear and food!"

Tae-Wook clenched his fist and gritted his teeth while looking at Fujiwara with hatred as if he wanted to eat him alive.

"Calm down you old stingy virgin."

"I will kill you!"

"Calm down Tae-Wook everyone is watching!"

Aron preventing Tae-Wook from jumping at Fujiwara's throat looked at mercenaries and surrounding soldiers sitting in their camps staring at them.

Tae-Wook slowly calmed down while breaking free from Aron's grip and sat on the ground with tears in his eyes, rendering Miles speechless.

"Don't pay attention to him, he's just an old virgin who loves too much money"

Fujiwara said to Miles as he uncorked a bottle of wine and began to sip it under the sharp eyes of Tae-Wook.

"But your case is really worrying."

He removing the wine bottle from his mouth while staring at Miles who sighed at his words.

"According to them the last available evacuation vehicle left two days ago, the next vehicles will only arrive in six months for a supply."

Miles hearing this started to get nervous, a large mana wave was really no joke, it was a catastrophic event that could kill many S rank mana users, the elites of the elites among the mana users.

"Wait a minute, how did the original Miles get away with it?"

Miles, too preoccupied to think about this subject, immediately asked himself this question which he had neglected because of the great number of events that had occurred since he had come to this world.

"When I met them, Fujiwara had said that he had crossed the city of Miles saying 'the city burned that they had crossed'."

"The fire I started in my house must have spread throughout the city hence the word burned, taking into account the time I spent walking and the time we met, this means that Miles in my work must surely have been rescued by them while he was in the city."

"If I hadn't left the city and burned my house, I would have met them sooner and if it weren't for my desire to train in mana, they would have gotten here sooner so I could have left this cursed place safely."

"In short I made the worst possible decision sequence."

Miles frowned, drawing the attention of the other three, who looked at him with more or less well-concealed concern on their faces.

"Don't worry kid, you should even be thrilled because this is a great opportunity for you."

Fujiwara who threw the empty wine bottle towards Tae-Wook who grabbed the bottle while looking at Fujiwara with hatred, then patted Miles' shoulder with a big smile on his lips that sent chills down Miles' spine.

"Not everyone has the chance to train under someone like me."

Hearing this, Miles suddenly had the urge to run away at full speed from this cursed place.

. . . . . . . . .

"How long do we have before the portals open?"

In a large tent of several hundred meters with a stage and a gigantic model in three dimensions.

The woman with the short blond hair in military garb looked in the direction of one of the men sitting in the front row among more than a hundred people all dressed differently, the man measuring more than two meters with a musculature so thick that the chair he was sitting on looked like a child's stool.

"Mr. Edward, we have at best three months before the portals open."

"The bookworms of the alliance still have no explanation for the specifics of this mana wave?"

This time a pale woman with white eyes and long red hair asked with a slight laugh that made the woman on stage frown again.

"Fuck you, bitch."

The woman on stage said in a rude tone completely abandoning any politeness she had a second ago.

The red-haired woman with white eyes hearing this got up from her chair clenching her fists and saying.

"Lia, you little bitch, you think I really wouldn't dare kill you now because you got a promotion."

"You can always try old bitch, but before you even touch me your head will fly off."

The woman on stage said with a smile as a thin-bladed sword appeared from nowhere in her hands.

"Do they still do it?"

"I knew it was going to end like this as soon as she started talking."

"I bet 1 million on Lia!"

"Okay, I'll bet 2 million on Kelly!"

"How many fights are we up to now?"

"Eighty nine, Lia forty five wins, Kelly forty four wins!"

"I'll bet one million on Kelly!"

"Four million on Lia!"

"Guys, stop it please we need to finish the meeting as soon as possible."

The voice that rang out was soft and light without an ounce of authority but strangely it calmed everyone present.

"Sorry Mister Aiden."

Lia and Kelly nodded as they turned to the man with the short blue hair with a slight smile and a pleasant turn to look back at him sitting in the back row of the room

"Please continue what ru was doing."

The man said with a calm voice that made the room even quieter, Kelly returned to her seat and the sword in Lia's hand disappeared, she continued to explain different strategies but this time without being interrupted by anyone.

For the man who had just spoken was exceptionally strong, one of the ten most powerful humans on this planet.

Aiden Rees.
