1 Arise

Marshall was never praised by his family. He was an outcast, whom the others didn't care about. Nothing he had done had ever been truly acknowledged. He was smothered by the shadow of his older half brother, Tavaris. This wasn't because he lacked intelligence. It's because they simply didn't care. And when they did care, it was always a pat on the back, or do better next time. Even when he came second, his glory was never noticed. He always yearned that sense of achievement that, his entire family never seemed to be able to provide.

Nor was he comforted. Even with the death of his mother, they didn't lend a singe word of comfort. He was an illegitimate son to the Fendell family. And it was going to stay that way. That was the plan.

And at the age of 13, Marshall decided to end it all. He was a neglected boy, with no mother that cared for him, and his father that couldn't even love him although he was own. Nobody would care about his death.

He stood on the edge of the tower. The tears trickled down his cheeks as he said his final goodbyes.

"Goodbye, dear world..." Marshall uttered before closing his eyes. He leaned forward, and began free falling. There was no going back. He was far too deep. He was tired of pushing forward, struggling to keep up. It was the end of everything.

"Marshall Fendell. At the age of 13 he jumped off a building, fell over 100 feet, which is considered 100% mortality. He has one parent living and is, quite obviously under the care of the Fendell family. Second in line to the Fendell co-operation, however it seems very unlikely that he will ever be able to inherit his family's business." Read an orb, floating above the ECG hologram.

"He's been in stasis for the past year now, and he's shown little to no signs of waking." spoke the doctor.

"I don't understand it though, he dropped over 100 meters and survived. What kind of power does this kid have?" The med student asked.

"Who knows, he could have been really lucky." pitied the doctor.

The doctor and his student walked out the room to assess other patients.

Light. A white light covered his surroundings. In his mind, Marshall hovered there in the middle, paralyzed. Everything began to change.

The area began to warp, twist and form into a lake. The water was still, no current and no ripples. There was but a single tree, and underneath, was a shadow.

Marshall, in his suspended state, opened his eyes. He stopped hovering and now stood on the water. He felt, nothing, and knew nothing.

Marshall approached the figure, but the distance grew. He began sprinting towards it, but the figure never seemed to be coming closer. In fact, the figure was getting further away.

"No, come back!" he screamed, as he threw himself up in the hospital bed. Marshall, panting heavily, looked around the room extremely confused and frightened.

"Is everything okay?" The doctor called as he rushed into the room. His med student followed behind him.

When they saw Marshall sitting upright they stared in awe. This was the kid who had sat in a coma for a year straight.

"Who are you?" Marshall asked.

"Mr Fendell, we are the doctors who have, taken care of you for the past year. It's good to see that you have woken." said the doctor.

"I've only been here for three months sir," spoke the med student.

"Mr who? What do you mean by the past year, what's going on?" Marshall questioned. He had no idea what these guys were talking about and couldn't really keep up.

Suddenly, he felt a large throbbing pain in his legs and head. He tensed up furiously, and let out a spine chilling scream. He felt intense pain, and couldn't hold it in.

"Mr Fendell!" yelled the doctor. He hurried the med student to call in other specialists, as he tried to assess Marshall's condition.

This went on for a whole 10 minutes, before Marshall passed out. The doctors discovered that his pain was the aftermath of him waking up.

When Marshall jumped off the building, he didn't use any powers to save him self. He hit the ground and survived. Just barely.

He was in shock after impact, and was awake for about a second or two, so he didn't feel any pain, until it came back to him at that very moment.

When Marshall re-awoke, it had been 15 minutes since the aftereffects, so he felt fine, to some degree. His mind was a blur and he felt dizzy. The room swirled around him, and he couldn't think straight for a bit.

"You woke up huh?" called a voice. Tavares walked in. "You tried killing yourself, and couldn't do that properly." he mocked. Tavares truly hated Marshall. He was like a flea, that would constantly buzz past his ears.

"Doesn't matter now. The parents, well my parents have decided to transfer us to Polus." Tavares claimed.

"What's Polus?" Marshall asked.

"You can find out for yourself , bastard." cursed Tavares. "I'm not here to converse or entertain you. I'm just here to give you this." he paused, before reaching into his back pocket.

Tavares yanked out a student ID card. It was obviously meant for Marshall.

"You start in 6 days, find a way to get there. The location is on the back. And make sure your not jumping off of buildings again, because next time, I'll make sure the job gets done properly."
