Unexpected Attack (2)

While both men were getting ready to face the enemy Sigrid by spreading her darkness aura scanned the oncoming enemies. Sigrid's face got a bit ashen. "Oli, get ready they are coming." Sigrid scrunched up her mesmerizing face into a small frown and gasped. "From their presence and form, I would say all of them are cave trolls, I don't feel the last presence though, he might be hiding or retreating."

To the response of Sigrid's words Oliver and Jerome both looked at each other understanding the gravity of the situation they were put in.

Jerome's steaming physique started glowing in crimson-red light as he enchanted his body to the limit. "Cave trolls? if somebody else had said such stupid-sounding words to me I would have dropped laughing. Anyway, I can't imagine how would 14 cave trolls appear in such a place but I guess it's time for me to show off against a worthy foe." Jerome snorted in an angry yet excited voice as he quickly turned his head back catching Sigrid's eye contact for a second.

Oliver was last to chime in. "Cave trolls are a very rare breed of trolls. They are among the strongest magical creatures you can meet in netarasia continent. Also, they are resistant to many types of magic, especially Dark. They are also very sturdy and tenacious. Such trolls usually dwell around the cloudy mountains on the southern border of the Netarasia conti..."

As Oliver was about to finish Jerome huffed loudly interrupting him mid-sentence and with a strong step forward he jumped forward like a blazing meteor.

Sigrid noticed Jerome's provocation right before he jumped. "What a show off that bastard not even letting Oli finish his sentence." She gritted her teeth and shouted to Oliver. "Oli my magic is not that useful against these trolls, just light this place up. So, that bastard has it easier!!!" Sigrid understood that even if Jerome tried provoking her, now was not the time to play around.

Oliver hearing his wife's command nodded. He then crouched down and put his palms gently on the forest's rich soil. His blue eyes started glowing with a golden light as he quietly murmured under his nose. "Nature - Sunflower of Light, raise and become a sun which illuminates everything in its path". As Oliver concluded his spell, a small, unassuming bud emerged from the forest floor, cradled between his palms. The bud quivered, then stirred, a verdant whisper reaching skyward. Swiftly, it began to grow. Its stem extended, winding its way upward, a vibrant beacon against the surrounding thickness of the forest The seconds passed, and the stem ascended, surpassing the canopy of the tallest trees, reaching for the heavens. In a breathtaking spectacle of nature and magic, the verdant creation bloomed into a colossal sunflower, its golden face stretching more than 20 meters in diameter. The moment of its unfolding was like a celestial announcement, the bloom casting radiant beams of light that pierced through the dense forest, illuminating every inch of it. The brilliance it emanated was akin to a miniature sun, effusing warmth and light that banished the night's terror.

As the forest lit up Jerome who rushed in the front was met with a dozen trolls equipped in tattered armor, spears and bows in their sturdy hands. Cave trolls were even bigger than Jerome, around 3 meters tall and well built. Jerome turned around squinting his eyes at the blinding sunflower, not even able to see Oliver and Sigrid he groaned to himself. "That small healing wimp huh, just what amount of mana does he have..." Just as Jerome finished he felt something slam into his chest. The first troll to attack him slammed his spear straight into Jerome's chest but it did no damage. Jerome smirked with a cruel grin. "This is a perfect opportunity to show off in front of that little witch." Jerome then grabbed the spear which stopped after hitting his chest and yanked it with a powerful force. The Troll unexpectedly met with such strength from a human fell towards the dark-skinned mage. As soon the troll's head fell into Jerome's attack range he winded his left arm behind him. Quickly like a thunderclap his arm slapped the troll's head. Oliver and Sigrid heard a gruesome sound as the troll's head spun in the air looking like a smashed watermelon. Jerome agilely jumped away as the massive troll's lifeless body fell, a geyser of deep red blood shooting from its mangled neck. Sigrid looking at Jerome's merciless performance gulped. Jerome stood illuminated by her husband's light before the lifeless monster, his onyx skin, like rich ebony, held a red gleam. Under the lighting his muscles danced beneath his skin, raw power oozing from every fibre in his body. This sight caught Sigrid off guard, stirring something unexplainable within the depths of her being.

Hope you enjoy it.
