Socorro: oh god please no! not this again Matilda!

Matilda: tch, Fine?! I get it you're the king's assistant, but you are more serious than the king himself!

Socorro: if I wasn't serious, nobody would get their job done, including you, you slack-off!

Matilda: *cheering* HOLY MOLY YES!!

Socorro: *Eye-roll* there is a legend that says that some people will have something more stronger than soulmates, other people that are 'Destined' to love them.

Matilda: You might be thinking, how does this differs from just falling in love the normal way? What's so special about A destined mate?

A Destined Mate is Much More than just someone who's meant to be in love with you.

Socorro: This myth is highly popular among the people living in this 'World', because it makes unconditional love seem possible.

Well, it's not exactly a myth, it happens...but It's a rare thing to happen.

But think about this, it doesn't matter who you are or who is your destined mate, you are forced by some sort of a magical power to be in love with that person and vice versa, and it's a forever thing till the day you die!

That sounds to me like a life sentence...

Matilda: But For the desperately single people out there like me, this is something we wish to happen to us, a life sentence with a dream cellmate, and like Socorro said while it's rare, it's actually happening to many people.

People are finding that destined mate! regardless of gender, ethnicity, or species.

Socorro: As for the not so desperately desperate for love single people like me, I've already said it's like a life sentence but it could also become a death sentence.

Matilda: OH C'MON! it's not that bad!

Socorro: it's hell, Falling in love should be a free and long process.

Being 'Forced' to love someone, a complete stranger for the rest of your life isn't bad? they could be a serial killer for all I know?!

Matilda: As if you're not planning to spend the rest of your life with the person you fell in love with under normal circumstances?!

Socorro: I'm just saying that people should be able to decide when to have a relationship, and to choose the person they want to be with.

Matilda: I don't think I agree with you, Plus most destined mates are actually compatible, and they're quite alike or at least they complete each other.

For example, I'm a lesbian ! so my mate will definitely be a woman, it could be a complete stranger, but still a woman.

Socorro: Fine I'll humor you...So let's say the gender problem is solved, but what if they're completely different from each other in terms of personality To a point where they'll fight in every encounter!

Like Ned and Garrick? These two are like Water and fire, what if those two ended up being mates?

Ned is and introvert, Garrick is an extrovert.

Garrick adores kids, Ned doesn't like kids.

Ned is a cat person and Garrick is a dog one, and so on with Their differences.

Matilda: I must admit I didn't think this through but...

Socorro: as expected from you.

Matilda: hey what does that mean!

Socorro: that you're dumb.

Socorro: I don't mean to hurt you by saying this, but I doubt you're going to say anything convincing.

Matilda: *Sighing* you're right, destined mates can hurt Each Other...

in fact if one of them hurt the other's emotions pretty badly, it can cause the one at fault to feel the same amount of pain or burst out crying without wanting to.

Socorro: Not just when they hurt each other, they can feel the pain even without causing it

Even physical pain!

Let's say one of them get hurt pretty bad, the other one can feel it too.

Matilda: I'm not bothered personally by that fact, but I see why it doesn't resonate with other people.

Socorro: I don't like this, if I get a mate I won't be just forced to be in love, but Also forced to be in pain.

Matilda: Isn't that how love is in general?

Socorro: Love shouldn't hurt Matilda... it's a beautiful thing meant to ease suffering of life, why would anyone like the pain.

Matilda: I see...changing the subject a little bit since things are getting dark.

The most asked question about the Destined Mate issue, is how do you know someone is your destined mate?

to put it simply, it usually happens as a coincidence after meeting that someone destined to be Your Mate, You can't choose the person, they're already chosen for you, all you need to do is to have a physical contact of any sort with that person.

it doesn't necessarily have to be a sexual contact, in fact just a simple touch is enough, like a handshake or a tap on the shoulders, even brushing your hands together.

Socorro: The moment that touch happens, an invisible bond will be created tying your subconscious with that person's subconscious.

Matilda: Then one night after, or sometimes in less than 24h from that bond being created, a mark will appear on a random part of your body, a mark that symbolize something about you and your destined mate.

Like that one neighbor of mine, who she got a cupcake mark because her mate was a baker.

Socorro: your destined mate will also Get a mark on their body that symbolizes something about you and them.

Matilda: isn't that a cute thing! the mark I mean! guess what too? when the two mates are close to each other, the marks will start to glow!

Socorro: Yes but, it's actually very easy to not know who's your mate if they hide their mark, or you got separated from them before you got the chance to know that you're mates.

Matilda: Yes that's another downfall, but separation from your mate won't kill you right away at least...

Socorro: it won't kill you but it won't make you stronger either, separation from your mate after the creation of the bond for long periods of time, will cost you your mental health and you will be unable to be in love with other people, since your mate exists now.

And that is not the only worst part about it, When the bond is created you need to accept your mate and for them to accept you so it stabilizes, but you can actually reject your destined mate before sealing your bond!

Matilda: oh no, here comes the grand subject!

Socorro: yes! you can reject your mate and it has severe consequences.

Rejecting your mate in person if they want to be with you, will cause them physical pain, and in the long term will cause them to eventually die of broken heart syndrome, mostly in a period of few months.

Hiding your mark on purpose is also considered rejection, it's called 'Denial'

it might take your mate longer to die from that than from public rejection, and it might take few years to finally succumb to the broken heart syndrome and die, but your rejected mate is still dying nonetheless.

Matilda: the surviving mate which is you, since you're the one who rejected your mate, you'll live your entire life in agonizing pain and regret, that will drive you eventually in the long run to insanity.

Socorro: in conclusion, while this legend is seemingly cute and romantic in its outer surface, on the inside it's an actual death sentence, just like I said.

Matilda: I still wanna have a mate though.

Socorro: Your funeral then.

Matilda: so mean! ugh, this whole talk and my heart didn't stop aching.

Socorro: *Surprised* you're in pain, are you alright?

Matilda: what's gotten into you all of the sudden? are you worried about me?

Socorro: well you're still my friend, of course I'm worried about you!

Matilda: tch hypocrite.

Socorro: what is that supposed to mean?

Matilda: nothing absolutely nothing.
