79 NGJ Chapter 79: Do You Believe in Magic?

ANNOUNCEMENT: I will be taking a break for a week to focus on my exams and stuff. Thanks for understanding.

---Akira 1#---

No way, nuh uh. I refuse to believe this. This isn't fucking real.

'Can god create a rock so heavy that even he himself cannot lift it?'

Apparently yes.

"Akira? Are you okay?" Aika asked as she put her hand on my shoulder. She looked quite concerned, looking at the pen in my hand that had turned into fine dust with how tightly I was holding it.

No, Aika, I am not fine. Let me have my meltdown in peace.

...No, I am not that big of an asshole, I wouldn't say such a thing to genuine concern.

Also, why was this body at school instead of the dungeon while my other body was slaving away inscribing unholily intricate designs into metal pillars?

...I was bored.

Is what I would if I wasn't already married to the grind. I prefer slaving away at dungeons to see my numbers grow than attend boring old school.

But I plan to reveal the Moonlit World to Aika today.

Alright, it isn't actually called the moonlit world, this isn't fate or anything of the sort(thank Helix for that, I think I would have died of anxiety knowing multiverse killer 9000 lived dormant in the same world as me) but you get the idea.

Also, I have no doubts that Alaya would have taken not so much liking to me, a man whose abilities revolved around killing people and resurrecting them. Someone whose abilities revolved around that, and was stronger than any magus and had no qualms about killing people en mass.

I would have gotten spawn-camped by god. Thank Helix once more that I don't like in that shit show. I much prefer fondling breasts to get stronger rather than performing human experimentation and having to kill magus to have more magic to myself.

Anyway, I already discussed it with Rias, we are already in a relationship and Rias already accepted I had a harem(Natural understanding of harems as a Demon and Harem Lord perk come clutch). She was naturally very elated when I expressed my opinion of adding Aika to her peerage.

She had already accepted her own inadequacy during the rating game and decided to actually start training along with her peerage. She was happy to have Aika on board once I informed her about Aika's talents in magic.

Why would I want to do this?

Because her peerage needed to be stronger. She was mine, and I won't allow her to get hurt on my watch. But at the same time, I can't watch her 24/7. So I will make her and her peerage stronger. Akeno and Koneko are already coming around and I can't believe I will say this.

Kiba is a decent friend? While I like women it doesn't mean I won't want to talk with guys. And yeah, he isn't fully sword-interested. While he doesn't exactly play the games I play I can still talk about games and stuff with him.

So he is added to the list of potential people I can force to play Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Horn of the Abyss with me.

Anyway, I wanted Aika to help them as a pawn. And I wanted her to become strong. Maybe even become strong enough to be useful.

After school came to a close while I was scribbling unbelievably intricate runic symbols on the papers absentmindedly I approached Aika.

"Hey Aika, do you have time after school?"

"Hmm? I do? Why?" Honestly, colour me surprised, she did not immediately jump to the carnal implications. But then again, once you have done the deed the need to slap an innuendo on every sentence is not very pronounced anymore.

"Right, do you want to come to my house with me? I have something I want to show you."

"Oh~? So that's what this is about? Of course, I can! Let's go!" She said, a slight blush on her face but she looked very pumped up. Of course, the thing she assumes I want to show is my rattlesnake. Or my game collection.

Of course, I plan to show her my copy of Heroes 3 one day but that day is not today.

Poor naive Aika, if only things were as simple as a booty call for you.

...

"Akira." She asked with a strained face as she shakingly pointed to the mansion in front of her.

"Yes?" Of course, I know she is shocked. But I like impressing people. Call me vain, I don't care.

"I-is that your house?"

"No, I brought you in front of a stranger's house. Let's go in." Grabbing her hand I led her into the house as the door was opened by Kalawarner.

"Welcome back Akira-sama." She said in a dignified manner, having gotten used to serving me while Aika looked utterly gobsmacked.

"You have maids!?" I could imagine the imaginary lightning in her head. It was quite entertaining.

"Duh, I'm loaded."

"And you never thought to tell me this before!?" She said in indignation. Huffing and puffing.

"You didn't ask." I could feel Aika's glare on me. Maybe I was teasing her a bit too much.

"Alright alright, sorry for teasing you so much. Kal, prepare us some tea." Saying that I led her into the mansion living room knowing no one was there thanks to the fact that it was harder for me to not know where anyone was in within a kilometre than not.

As we sat in front of each other Aika looked very overwhelmed and I could understand why.

"Wow. You really do live in a mansion huh? It's a bit hard to wrap my head around. But it's you we are talking about so I shouldn't be too surprised, right mr. casanova? Do you bang your maids?" Saying that she threw a slight smirk at me as she took a sip of the tea and tried to relax.

She was quite the open-minded girl which I liked. Adaptability is key in most situations.

Letting this calm mood linger a bit as we both sipped on our teas for her to calm down I got ready to ask her the question.

"Aika. Do you believe in the supernatural?" Straight to the point. I dislike dancing around topics, I am a necromancer, not a dancer. Understandably, Aika looked rather confused.

"You mean like ghosts and stuff? Maybe? I haven't really thought about it much until now. Why do you ask?" Ok, so she at least believes to some degree. That's enough for me.

"Aika, do you trust me?" I asked with a serious expression on my face as she gulped.

"Yeah?"

"Alright, I'll be frank. I am a sorcerer."

"..."

"..."

You could hear a pin drop.

Aika looked at me with an expression of genuine concern.

"Akira are you okay? Did you hit your head or something?"

*Chuckle.*

As she was about to say something again I lifted my hand and conjured an icicle lance and let it harmlessly drop onto her lap. Her mouth gaped open like a fish when she saw the blue light emerge from my palm and form into an icicle.

Aika, in a daze, she picked up the icicle lance and looked at it for several seconds before realizing that holding ice with bare hands wasn't the best idea.

"You're... A Sorcerer?" She asked in an incredulous tone.

"Yep."

"Magic exists?"

"Also yes."

"Is... Is there anything else I should know?" She said in an almost fearful tone. Awakening the inner sadist inside of me.

"Yes, Devils, Angels, Fallen Angels, Dragons, Youkai, Vampires, Budhas, and gods exist as well. Some even live in this very town."

Aika.exe has crashed.

"Why are you... telling me all of this?" She looked shaken but rather unexpectedly she looked rather resolved. I admit I did not expect her to be this mentally strong. But a nerd like her probably assumed by I told her.

"Because Aika, I care about you. And because I am a rather high-profile individual I don't want others to find you to get to me, I want you to be able to defend yourself."

"Besides, I know you wouldn't turn down a chance to learn magic."

Hearing my light-hearted words Aika smiled. Although this implied that she was in danger strictly because of me Aika overlooked that. Honestly, I am a tad touched by the extent she is willing to go. I should prepare a gift for her.

"Yeah I wouldn't! Are you kidding me!? Who would turn down a chance to learn magic? I will be the best wizard to ever be just you see!" She looked incredibly.

"Actually, I wanted to ask you something Aika. You know the Occult Research Club members?"

...

"So you telling me that both the Student Council and the Occult Research Club are devils!?"

"Yes, excellent recap Aika. So do you want to join them?" Aika stood in the chair and rubbed her chin in contemplation.

"Fine, I will meet them. Magic and Longevity just sounds way too enticing. Plus meeting with the schools Idol's is not a chance I want to pass up!" She said pumping her fist in the air as I smiled and put my hand on her shoulder.

"Alright, let's meet them right now then." I said maliciously as I prepared the teleport spell.

"Wait wha-"

*Blip!*

I appeared in the middle of the ORC room with everyone inside, Rias sitting on the table, Akeno by her side and Koneko along with Kiba sitting on the couch. Truly they looked classy and noble with this.

"Ara~ ara~ it seems you have brought us our new cute Junior. Thank you Akira-kun." I do not know how her breasts jiggled just by putting her hand on her cheek. Don't ask me.

"Ara ara to you too Akeno. I am just gonna leave her in your hands to give her the whole Devil rundown." Hearing my nonchalant words Akeno's opened slightly in challenge. As if saying 'I am going to get you one day.'

Good luck with that. Without any chance of retaliation, I opened the door and walked out.

...

As I was waiting outside, practicing Water Magic Aika stepped out after 10 or so minutes looking pretty happy.

"So?" I asked expectantly and she smiled. Bat wings popped out of her back.

"I am Aika Kiryuu! New Reincarnated Devil and the pawn of Rias Gremory! Nice to meet you!" Her enthusiasm was almost contagious.

I probably made the right choice.
