23 Chapter 23: An Unwelcome Visitor

With my newly made undead army, it was a breeze to get through the lower floors of the dungeon. Using the priests I created new undead. I also got rid of the two rotten strays because they did fuck all.

My current army was:

10 Skeleton Soldiers, half of them started at level 20 due to my skill level and the quality of corpses while the other half was around 40.

And another was the 5 thieves. They are invaluable. With their concealment in the dark crypt, they can easily get behind the archers and mages and execute them.

There were also my 5 archers. They were pretty helpful being able to pick off enemies from a distance as my warriors stall them.

With those I reach my maximum limit but that's fine. Just these guys are enough to clear most rooms without my input thanks to the wizard and Fido.

It is also a bit embarrassing that my own wizard has more spells than me. Well, that would change very soon because my hypothesis was right. The crypt started dropping the stuff now that I was a Necromancer. Including the spells for the necromancer class.

_____________________________

[Bone Spear Lv. 4/100]

[Cost: 120CE]

Conjure and launch a spear of bone at your enemies. Dealing (Int x 1.04) piercing damage to your enemies.

_____________________________

[Detect Life Lv. 1/100]

[Cost: 100CE]

When used spreads a wave of cursed energy that detects traces of life like a sonar.

There was also another skill book that had dropped which was bone spikes that erupted spikes of bone from the ground but something nice happened when I tried to learn it.

[This skill is compatible with [Grave Buster] add skill to grave buster?]

With this skill fused into grave buster now I could also create spikes with grave buster, making it basically my main method of attack now.

A big reason for this was that Grave Buster as my extension technique of create undead got bonuses from both my sorcerer and my necromancer class.

While it was a tad expensive to cast the spikes they were really deadly and I could use them to pin my opponents while I cast spells at them. There was an unforeseen flaw in that though.

Almost everybody in DxD can fly. Almost effortlessly at that. This meant Grave Buster had limited use against most opponents I will face in the world unless I get a method to force them to the ground.

I can probably find a way to do that eventually.

On another note, the necromancer class is leveling up rapidly although the class itself leveled slightly slower than Sorcerer due to my high level though I dont know how much my current level affected it, it still leveled rapidly due to the fact that it was at level 0. I chose the class I was leveling up by just switching their places in my interface.

Also thanks to the stat gains from the Necromancer class my stats are booming right now.

[ Necromancer Lv. 25/100 ]

A magician that specializes the in the manipulation of death and raising undead.

Stat Gain:

+2 Vitality

+1 Endurance

+1 Strenght

+1 Dexterity

+3 Intelligence

+3 Wisdom

With those bonuses and the fact I had leveled up twice against Raynare and the gang for defeating them, my stats were looking quite scrumptious. With my Vitality and Agility breaking the 100 mark, giving me these two perks.

[Sixth Sense]

You seem to have a unique knack for sensing danger.

[Resiliant]

+20% Abnormal Status Resistance

Also I just now realized that there was in fact level-up bonuses for classes that I get for reaching certain levels in the class. For example, unlocking my Innate Technique at level 25. There was also a reward for reaching level 50 which was a random cursed technique that gave me quite a good one, unlike something like propeller hair.

[ Cursed Speech Lv. 1/100 ]

You can reinforce your words with cursed energy, compelling anyone who hears them to obey your command, limited to simple commands. Infusing your words with cursed energy puts a heavy strain on your throat. The effectiveness of the command and the backlash is proportional to the difference in level between the target and caster. This skill scales with Cha and Int.

And incredibly useful ability but it wasnt really applicable in combat too much for me. This wasnt MY innate cursed technique so it is less powerful in my hands, though it could make decisive moves for example I can command my enemy to STOP to make them stop for a brief moment so I can skewer them.

It still had its weaknesses though. For example, for it to work the target must be able to understand my words to a certain extent and possess cursed energy. Still, it was a very versatile ability I was very satisfied with.

A little annoying it doesn't affect undead though.

Speaking of undead I also managed to snag some more template cards. Which were:

_____________________________

[Wight]

[Min. Level: 15] [Maintenance Cost: 2]

An undead that is largely a spirit in form, capable of flying, and is invulnerable to mundane melee attacks. They are capable of regenerating from wounds on their own but are frail and weak as well as vulnerable to magic.

_____________________________

Wights were alright, they should be very useful in dungeons full of brutes but I had no reason to raise any at the moment. The other on the other hand I couldn't raise for other reasons.

_____________________________

[Possesed Armor]

[Min. Level: None] [Maintenence Cost: Varies]

[ Requirments: [Full Set of Armor] [Soul] ]

The power and level of a possessed armor depends on the armor and soul used to create it. In general Possessed Armor's possess proficiency in using any weapon to a degree.

_____________________________

This was an incredibly good and versatile undead summon to get. I already have a soul with me I just need a good enough armor to use it on. Other than that I also got a bunch of miscellaneous loot such as weapons to give to my undead, potions, and even some potion recipes.

But eventually, I reached the final floor.

Now, I was in front of the room that contained the final boss. It should be rather powerful but I am sure I can defeat it with my current abilities. I didn't come here by slacking off after all.

I stepped into the room and felt like I got slapped in the face for daring to become confident.

[Death Knight Lv. 100(Boss)]

In front of me was a 2.5-meter tall monstrosity of an undead clad in black heavy armor carrying a flamberge and great shield.

The moment it saw us the death knight let out a horrifying scream before charging with surprising speed toward us, I had my skeletons go up front and block the charge but the death knight just swatted them away like they were bowling pins.

The arrows of my archers and the daggers of my thieves bounced off of its armor, the wizard managed to deal actual damage using lightning spells as the soldiers tried to keep it occupied. But the knight seemed to shrug them off.

Honestly, my soldiers were like 5 year-olds trying to stop a drunk and angry stepfather.

I on the other hand was looking for opportunities. I tried impaling it with grave buster but it didn't do much, cursed speech is useless against undead and my undead were too close for me to use cursed flames.

I can order them to retreat but the Death Knight is faster, I am already doing everything I can to not draw aggro because the moment that guy locks onto me will be the moment I land 6ft under.

Stalling wasnt an option. My soldiers are already struggling.

I can summon a wight which it won't be able to damage but the wight won't be able to damage it either. Then suddenly the thunder of inspiration struck me.

I created a dozen icicle lances by double casting and launched them all at the death knight as it ignored the icicles as they struck him. The damage itself was nonexistent but then Frostbite activated. And that slowed the Death Knight just enough for me.

"{Grave Buster!}" I called out to increase the output and instead of summoning the several regular pairs of skeletal hands I instead expanded my view of the ability. What exactly was grave buster?

Grave Buster allows me to summon skeletal appendages and bone spikes. So what if instead of creating several pairs of normal skeleton hands I create one giant pair by combining them?

I felt my CE drain heavily but a pair of giant skeletal hands emerged and grabbed the death knight before it could destroy it. The hands won't be able to stop the death knight for more than a few seconds but that is more than a few seconds plenty.

"{Cursed flames}!" I held my hand out and channeled a full-power cursed flame that grew to the size of a beachball before launching it at the Death Knight. Thanks to the grave buster my undead were sufficiently far away as the Death Knight bore the brunt of the attack the moment it broke away.

*Booom!*

The death knight was engulfed in a green inferno while I coughed out blood. The backlash you suffer when your cursed technique gets damaged is pretty real. But now with the Death Knight on fire, my undead had a far easier time as the Death Knight was not able to fight efficiently while being on fire.

I had to hit it a few more times and thanks to the weakness of fire all undead share, the behemoth went down and I leveled up 4 times in a row! After healing all my undead I went over and picked up the loot it had dropped.

[Template Card: Death Knight]

When I saw the words my eyes went wide like saucers. This meant I could summon the guy who was about to chew my ass duke nukem style a few moments ago. There was also a book it had dropped.

[Grimoire of the Lich]

I was about to check it out before I decided that I should exit the dungeon and take a shower first before looking over my loot.

So after retrieving my undead I exited the dungeon and landed in my shower. I decided that going ID create in the shower was wiser than landing on my couch all bloodied up and I was right. So I just threw my dirty clothes into my inventory and took a shower before retrieving a fresh pair from my inventory and getting dressed.

But when I left my bathroom to go back to my room the sight I saw in my living room shocked me.

"Yo! Good Afternoon Akira-kun!"

...Why the fuck is the Governor of the Fallen Angels in my living room?
