Motivation To Fight

"Looks like someone's been motivated," Lin Chen spoke with a mocking tone as he rotated the halberd around in his hands. He then spit out the blood that had accumulated in his mouth onto the ground and then wiped his mouth. "But you know, it's going to take a helluva lot more than a simple motivation to kill me!"

"Well," The man in black waved his hands around, and a war hammer materialized out of thin air, falling into his hands, which he gripped tightly. "I guess it's a good thing that I'm capable of more!"

"You sure do like to boast a lot," Lin Chen clenched his halberd tightly and licked his lips. "Whether you're capable or not… I'll be the judge of that!"

Whoosh!

The two men disappeared from the spots where they stood just a second ago, and appeared in mid–air, their weapons swinging!

"Your arrogance is going to be your downfall, boy!" The man in black said with a cold smile as he unleashed his powerful aura, which made the war hammer buzz with chaotic internal energy. Cold beams were immediately unleashed from the war hammer, enveloping the weapon and expanding it into an even bigger version of itself.

"Are you ready to face your death, boy? I'm going to crush you with my war hammer!" The man in black's voice echoed in the air as he swung his weapon in Lin Chen's direction like a fierce tiger. Lin Chen narrowed his eyes before he pulled the halberd close to his chest and leapt higher right before the war hammer could collide with his body.

As the war hammer missed its target, Lin Chen, who was now right above the man in black, threw the halberd downwards with full force, intending to strike the man's head.

Swoosh!

The halberd cleaved through the air with incredible speed as it fast approached the man in black, but right before it was about to pierce the man's head, he raised the war hammer above him in an instant, causing the halberd to strike the weapon instead!

BOOM!

The impact pushed the man in black down onto the ground, causing him to land on his knees.

"Urgh!" The man grunted, and a second afterwards, his eyes widened, and he rushed backwards instantly as Lin Chen's halberd pierced the spot where he was kneeling just a millisecond ago.

BAM!

The impact caused dirt and debris to fly all over the place, and just when the man in black was about to find his footing, Lin Chen immediately appeared behind him and swung his halberd once again, aiming for his abdomen.

"You fucker!" The man in black cursed out loud while biting his lips, and then instantly twisted his body, narrowly evading the attack as the blade of the halberd passed by without injuring him.

"Take this!" The man in black screamed as he swung the war hammer in Lin Chen's direction, aiming for his head.

Lin Chen raised his halberd above his head in order to block the attack, and the impact pushed him down to his knees.

"Hiyah!" The man in black swung his legs at the kneeling Lin Chen, which caused him to be flung into the air before crash landing on the ground.

"Gah!" Lin Chen spit out the blood from his mouth as he tried getting up, but the man in black appea right above him and swung his war hammer once again.

"Die!" The man yelled as the war hammer descended in Lin Chen's direction, who instantly summoned his halberd and raised it above him, and the war hammer collided against the halberd, causing bright sparks to fly out.

"This is the end for you, boy! Don't resist your fate!" The man in black continued pushing the war hammer downwards, and Lin Chen could feel the force that he was resisting slowly increasing.

"Ugh!" With a short groan, Lin Chen stretched out his feet and kicked at the man in black's legs with as much power as he could muster up, which caused the man to lose his balance for a single second.

"Hmph!" Lin Chen didn't let the chance he received go to waste, and immediately rolled away from the war hammer's trajectory, which slammed down onto the ground with an intense force.

Lin Chen didn't waste any time and immediately threw his halberd right at the man in black, who in a desperate attempt to avoid the attack, leaned sideways and twisted his body.

However, he had been a bit late with the response, and the halberd cleaved through his left shoulder, causing blood to spray out like a water fountain.

"AHHH! I'll get you!" The man screamed in agony before gritting his teeth and dashing straight for Lin Chen, who groaned in annoyance before swinging his halberd at him once again.

"Not this time!" The man roared like a beast as he ducked down to avoid the attack before he twisted his body and swung the war hammer right at Lin Chen's abdomen.

Lin Chen tried to evade the attack by leaping backwards, but the war hammer struck his thighs, and the impact made him flip in the air and change his trajectory, causing him to crash into the wall beside him.

BOOM!

"I've got you now!" The man in black smiled gleefully as he appeared in front of an injured Lin Chen and pulled his war hammer back, getting ready to swing. But just then..

Slash!

"Wha-" The man in black couldn't even finish his words as he stared at the blade that was sticking out from his chest with blood filled mouth. Someone had stabbed him from behind!

"H-How…" The man in black's words turned into whispers before the light in his eyes completely faded away, and he fell down onto the ground, revealing the man who stabbed him.

"Gah, th- thanks for the help, boar demon.." Lin Chen coughed loudly as he spoke, and he stared at the man who helped him.

[ Don't worry about it, punk! And congratulations on completing your very first undead spell in this world, even though you had to borrow my powers for a bit… ]

The boar demon replied, and Lin Chen let out a short chuckle. The person who stabbed the man in black was one of his dead subordinates, whom Lin Chen used as a subject to turn him into an undead. He had completed the spell in the middle of the fight by borrowing the boar demon's powers, and was waiting for the perfect opportunity to utilize him.

Lin Chen then turned his gaze at the body of the man in black, and narrowed his eyes.

[ Are you planning on making him an undead as well? ]

The boar demon asked, and Lin Chen shrugged his shoulders. "He would have information about the person who wanted me beaten up. And besides, his powers might come in handy someday."
