The next day.

Lin Chen exited his home and began walking to his school. 'Boar demon..' He tried calling the boar demon, but he didn't receive any response, and Lin Chen shook his head.

'Looks like the boar demon is still resting,' Lin Chen thought as he recalled what happened yesterday..

It was midnight when Lin Chen had completed his cultivation process for the day, and as soon as he got up from the floor, he heard the exhausted and annoyed voice of the boar demon echoing inside his head.

[ You owe me for this, punk! ]

The boar demon's loud groan reverberated across Lin Chen's mind, and he asked, "Did you use the dreamcatcher spell on Qin Xiao?"

[ I did, I did. Everything went smoothly. Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to take a nice and long rest. You'd better not disturb me, you little punk! ]

The boar demon replied instantly, as though he wanted to end the conversation as quickly as he possibly could, before turning completely silent.

That was the last that Lin Chen had heard of the boar demon.

"Well, it's not like the boar demon is dead or anything…" Lin Chen shrugged his shoulders as he walked. The boar demon was a spirit, after all. It wasn't a living being that could be hurt by mortals like him.

"Lin Chen!" A familiar voice was heard shouting his name from behind, and Lin Chen turned around and saw Fang Meng waving his arms in the air as he dashed towards him. Lin Chen waved back, and Fang Meng slapped him on his shoulders, which resulted in a loud noise.

"Ouch! That hurt like hell! Why the fuck did you do that, you asshole?" Lin Chen rubbed his shoulders as he glared at Fang Meng, groaning loudly.

"You're calling me an asshole? You're the asshole, asshole!" Fang Meng glared back before attempting to slap Lin Chen once again, but this time, he evaded the attack and took a step back. "Why am I the asshole? What the fuck did I do?"

"You skipped school yesterday! And you didn't tell me about it!" Fang Meng yelled back with an expression of betrayal on his face, and Lin Chen slapped his forehead. "Ah! Oh yeah, I forgot about that.."

"You forgot to tell your best friend about skipping school?" Fang Meng tried to slap Lin Chen again, but Lin Chen grabbed Fang Meng's wrist before he could swing his hand at him. "Hey, look, I wasn't skipping school to hang around, okay? I had something to do! You would've been alone even if you decided to ditch school with me."

"What was it that you had to do?" Fang Meng raised his eyebrows, and Lin Chen shook his head. "I can't tell you that, but you're going to have to trust me. What I can tell you is that it was very important to me and my future."

"You can't tell me?" Fang Meng asked as he continued staring at Lin Chen, and Lin Chen shook his head again. "I can't tell you. I'm sorry, but you're going to have to trust me. Just this once."

".... Alright. I'll trust you, just this once." Fang Meng replied as he pulled back his hand, and Lin Chen released his grip, surprised that Fang Meng let the issue go so easily. "Really?"

"Only this one time!" Fang Meng explained, and Lin Chen replied with a thumbs up and a hug. "You got it buddy!"

"Now kiss!" Bai Ailun, who was passing by on his skateboard, yelled out loud as the two boys hugged.

"FUCK YOU!" Lin Chen and Fang Meng yelled back in unison before moving back, gritting their teeths as they watched the cackling Bai Ailun disappear from their view.

"What a prick!" Lin Chen muttered, and Fang Meng nodded his head. "I know, right? I so want to see that bitch lose his precious first place in those internal exams."

"Well sadly, that won't be happening.." Lin Chen chuckled. Fang Meng turned to look at him before asking, "Why'd you say you were giving up on the internal exams?"

"Like I said, it's a meaningless test." Lin Chen shrugged. "I'd rather have my focus on the final test."

"Aiming for the big prize, eh?" Fang Meng teased Lin Chen. "Don't tell me that you're planning on taking the overall first place in the school?"

"Oh no, no! My talent is way too crappy for me to get anywhere near first place!" Lin Chen waved his hands around, and Fang Meng laughed out loud. "Yeah, yeah, yeah.. I was just messing with you!"

'First place might be hard. But the top ten on the other hand..' Lin Chen was thinking about his chances of getting into the top ranks within the school. With his skills, he was confident that he could defeat most students in the one-on-one combat trials. And although talent does factor into the grading of the final test, there might be a chance for him to grab a top ten spot with an overwhelming victory on the rest of the trials.

The two boys then continued walking towards the school. "By the way, Lin Chen.." Fang Meng tilted his head at Lin Chen, who turned to look at him with a puzzled expression. "Hm? Yeah?"

"You aren't skipping school today? Don't tell me that you don't have anything important to do today?" Fang Meng spoke with a teasing tone, making Lin Chen even more confused. "Uh, yeah no. Not today.'

'After all, today's the day that Freddy Chang, a famous scout for the Poseidon Guild, makes a surprise visit to the school!' Lin Chen couldn't miss this chance. In his first life, the scout had offered a free one year internship in the Poseidon Guild to any student who could successfully complete his challenge.

Lin Chen furrowed his eyebrows. 'Last time, it went to Jang Eunsoo of Class-A. But not this time.'

"Hmm.. I see, I see." As Lin Chen was thinking to himself, Fang Meng shook his head with a teasing tone once again. "Alright then, maybe you'll get to do your important thing tomorrow!"

"Huh? S-sure…" Lin Chen didn't know how to respond to Fang Meng's words, and simply nodded his head in the end. As the two continued walking to school, Lin Chen glanced at Fang Meng for a second before thinking, 'What was that all about? And what on earth made Fang Meng stop pestering me about the reason for skipping class? He's usually annoying when it comes to things like this..'

Meanwhile, Fang Meng had already formed a guess of what Lin Chen's 'important thing' was in his mind.

'Important… Ditching school… Can't tell me… Future…' A smile slowly formed on Fang Meng's face as he nodded his head, complimenting himself for figuring out Lin Chen's secret so easily. 'Huhuhu… He's obviously meeting up with a girl that he likes!'
