1 Chapter 1 — The Pharaoh’s Trial

Under the scorching sun, a mighty pyramid stood alone surrounded by the unforgiving sands. After facing a number of trials and proving himself worthy, a single young man was standing in the throne room.

Dressed in gold and the finest silk, the pharaoh Atem, was looking down from his throne to the challenger ahead of him.

The challenger Yuhan, was attempting this last trial for the 49th time. Considered the "Impossible quest" by the playerbase, Yuhan set his eyes on the field once more.

This is an impossible situation, to reach this point, Yuhan had to face all the other guardians of the Millenium relics, so far he had obtained all, except for the Millennium Puzzle, which was the reward for defeating the Pharaoh Atem, along with the "Realm Box".

This is currently an event map called Pharaoh's Realm, looking at the System Menu, Yuhan could see the warning. The servers were about to shutdown for maintenance in 30 minutes.

This was his very last chance to complete the event quest. Just like other event Realms, once it was over, no one could come back to this map, and the rewards were unavailable to obtain in the future.

Needless to say, the developers were CRAZY when designing this event. Most players gave up after obtaining the first or second millennium items, the difficulty was insane.

The last quest for this event Realm was called "The Pharaoh's Trial" a dungeon with multiple traps, high level monsters, the only respawn point was at the entrance, and worst of all, after defeating all the monsters and surviving the traps on the way, after burning your life points and resources, the players are met with the throne room, with a Level 101 NPC called "True Pharaoh — Atem".

It was considered an unclearable quest, after all player level was capped at 99, and the cards played by the Pharaoh were completely unbalanced .

Once reaching the throne room a cutscene is played, Atem gets the first turn, his opening hand always have a card called "The Forbbiden Sarcophagus" when activated, Atem banishes 5 cards from his deck. After this part, the NPC plays like a normal AI.

Up until the 10th turn, when another cutscene plays out, Atem starts the turn by drawing "Pot Of Greed" drawing two cards, he plays Ra's Desciple and summons three of them at once on the left corner of field, and after a series of combos, somehow Atem manages to summon all three Egyptian God Cards. Winged dragon of Ra in the middle of the field, Obelisk the Tormentor to the right of field and Slifer the sky Dragon on the left side of the field.

Players were supposed to defeat the Egyptian Gods, and deal enough damage to Atem before his 20th turn, because for some god forsaken reason, on his 20th turn "The Forbidden Sarcophagus" activates again, and the five banished cards are added to Atem's hand, and guess what? It's Exodia.

Let that sink in, you need to defeat the 3 most powerful cards the game has ever seen, against an opponent at a higher level than yourself, in less than 20 turns or else it's an automatic loss. Players were furious, and until the last day of the event, a player has yet to claim the millennium puzzle and the Realm Box.

It's currently the 18th turn, as Yuhan drew from his deck, it's now the start of the 19th turn, with only 30 minutes left before the servers shutdown, this is literally his last chance to defeat Atem and claim the Realm Box.
