23 Ongoing investigations

The next day,

The sun shone brightly outside with the birds chirping and singing. The scent of the flowers driven by the wind passed through the open window accompanied by the warm rays of the sun that kissed her missed her face beautifully.

She squirms and stretches on the bed like a little child as her eyes flutter open. Her expressions are peaceful giving a surreal and blissful look to her already delicate appearance. She looked like she had nothing to worry about and the world could go ahead and worry about itself.

She stared outside through the window, it was a beautiful morning and she was not going to waste it staying indoors like she had been doing the past weeks.

Getting up from the bed, she made her way into the bathroom to brush her teeth and take a bath before leaving the room to have her breakfast.

"Good morning, Miss." Allyson, the maid greeted her the moment she walked down the stairs.

Natasha smiled at her for the first since they had met and left the woman wondering what was going on. "Good morning, Allyson," Natasha replied and made her way to the kitchen.

Allison followed behind her still wondering what had changed this was the first time Miss had called her name and smiled at her. She was glowing with happiness and an innocent charm the maid didn't quite understand.

"What would like to have for breakfast, Miss?" She asked. Standing humbly in front of Natasha.

"Anything that you have for me," replied Natasha while opening the refrigerator. She took out a bottle of water headed for the island counter and waited for Allyson to serve the meal.

After her breakfast was completed, Natasha got ready to leave the mansion on her own for the first since moving in. She went to her room and took a car dit card that Reaper had given to her and the car key to a grey Porsche Cayenne and left the house.

She drove and arrived at a mall for shopping. She walks into the mall and was received by the mall attendant who fook her around the mall telling her the different prices of the things in stock.

"I will make that," Natasha said and stood in front of the long, black, and elegant dress that the salesperson had just spoken about.

"This one?" She asked and looked at Natasha from head to toe, she didn't look like a rich person from her simple outfit.

"Yes, that one." She said with a nod of the head. "That and more, I haven't stocked my closet in a while now."

"I'll show you to the rest ma'am." The salesperson said and led her happily to other sections. If the lady was capable of purchasing all that she said she would then it was in her favor.

Natasha went around the mall buying whatever she thought was useful and good enough for her. She remembered the last time she visited a Mall was when her parents were still around and she was always escorted by bodyguards and maids, barely having the opportunity to pick and do anything by herself but that was enough for her back then and she asked for nothing more.

But now, it is different. She could not get back her parents and she did not need anyone following her around out of duty and not because they wanted to, or cared about her but because they were required and expected to do so.

"Miss Wallace?" A woman's voice called behind her.

Her train of thought came to a stop when she heard her name being called behind her. The voice was unfamiliar but she knew the same could not be said of her to the person who had called her. She could hear the clicking sound of heels as they hit the tiles of the floor. She turned around and so did the salesperson whose eyes went wide upon seeing who the woman was. She was blonde-haired with pale blue eyes and beside her was another woman with dark curly hair and green eyes. She looked as sophisticated as the woman beside her.

"Mrs. Anders," Natasha said with a sweet smile that was capable of brightening up a dull day.

"I can't believe it's you, Miss Wallace." Amethy Anders said and walked up to where Natasha stood. "I heard you were missing, I am so glad that you are okay."

"I am too, Mrs. Anders, I survived when my family was too unfortunate to survive," Nathan said to the woman with a sullen expression on her face.

"It is good to hear dear, how have you been coping?" The woman asked genuinely concerned about the young woman in front of her.

They were led to sit by the salesperson who didn't want to leave the two women who had just joined them walking and standing.

"I am doing much better than I thought I would," she said and the woman smiled at her. "But I can't say that I am happy with the way my parents' murder was treated so lightly even by the company," Natasha said and her expression became hard and her gaze piercing.

Amethy felt a chill run down her spine from just the look that Natasha threw at them. It felt as if she was blaming them or maybe someone related to them.

"Miss Wallace..."

"And you are?" Natasha asked cutting the second woman who was about to speak. She got flustered by the question. She was not surprised that the young woman did but know her and fook no offense in her words but the cluster of her face could but be helped.

"Selena Ford, Miss Wallace, my husband is a shareholder of the Wallace Group." She introduced herself. This was her first time meeting Natasha in person and the same could be said for Natasha. "It is nice to finally meet you."

There was no change in the expression on Natasha's face even after the introduction. "Mrs Ford," Natasha repeated the last name, she remembered the man bei mind the people on her deadline.

"Yes, Miss Wallace." The woman said with a smile.

"Give my warmest regards to Mr. Ford once you return." She said and smiled. The woman smoked back and nodded happily.

"I will do just that," She said.

You are saying something before. What was it you wanted to say?" Natasha asked her bringing back the conversation from earlier.

From the side, the salesperson was shocked by what she had come to know. The woman whom she thought could not purchase the dress that she had licked turned out to be the heiress of the largest company in the country.

She stared at Natasha and wondered why she was so plainly dressed.

"Oh, about that, what I was about to say was, Everyone did their level best but nothing could be found, but investigations are still ongoing, I can assure you of that. my husband is the one in charge of the case." She Selema said and Natasha's eyes narrowed at her.

This was new information. She knew that the report of the investigation was fabricated but she did not know by whom. But now she did. "Where is he now?" Natasha asked.

"At home, he is getting ready to leave the country soon, on a business affair." She replied and Natasha smiled.
