12 Chakra (1)

It's been about a year now since Miki and I met Shin, and you could say that we are quite close now. Pretty much every day, we were either at Shin's dad's restaurant keeping him company, or out in the village playing around.

"I'm going to leave, guys. I have some chores to do at home, and after I finish those, I'm going to be able to get my chakra unlocked finally," I said enthusiastically.

"No way! I keep asking my mom, and she always says, 'No, not before you turn 4.' Every. Single. Time." Miki sighed exasperatedly, looking at me with the most jealous eyes I think I have ever seen.

"Yeah, my dad is also making me wait until I'm four because it can ruin the chakra meridians throughout the body if you do it any earlier," Shin said, nodding his head in agreement with Miki's mom.

"Don't give Aunt Tomiko too many problems, Miki. She just wants what's best for you and your future," I tried to console Miki, which didn't seem to work.

"Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, I just want to be able to spit water balls and create ice dragons. It just looks so cool," Miki waved me off while looking into space with stars practically shooting from her eyes at this point.

Shin and I rolled our eyes at her antics, and I waved them both goodbye. They waved back, and I split off from them while they stayed at the restaurant.

Sprinting back to the compound, I was back within a few minutes and continued sprinting to my house while waving at everyone who greeted me.

Slamming the door open and closed, I took off up the stairs to do my chores before I went to bug my parents about the promise they made to me.

After making my bed, cleaning my room, and picking up the clean laundry to take back to my room, I went out back to see a toddling Kushina playing in the grass, looking as adorable as ever.

"Mom! Dad! You know what time it is!" I exclaimed a little too enthusiastically, seeing as the neighbors next door, who were out talking with my parents, started to laugh.

"Alright, alright, no need to be that loud, honey," my mom lightly chastised me while smiling at the excitement her little boy was showing.

"This is how we'll do it, Shiran. You go sit in the middle of the yard in a lotus position and relax your mind and body while waiting for me to get over there," my dad told me what to do, and I quickly complied.

After being reincarnated, this was the thing I was most looking forward to. This is the start of my journey to strength and making sure that I can be a good protector to my current and future family. Plus, who doesn't want to be able to shoot fireballs and water bullets?

As I sat there in a relaxed position with my mind beginning to clear, my parents gave a silent nod to each other as if signaling that they too were ready to see their little boy take his first step towards being a shinobi.

My dad came up behind me, placing a hand on the middle of my upper back and began to start to talk to me.

"Alright, Shiran, you're going to feel a warm sensation start from where my hand is on your back and start to move around your body. I want you to trace this feeling all the way to where it stops and starts to gather. Once you have found the spot, I want you to drag a tiny bit of it out and start to circulate it around your body. If for whatever reason I tell you to stop, you will do that; otherwise, I'll stop the session here, and we won't try again until another month has passed."

"I understand, Dad. I'll make sure to follow the rules," I nodded with the utmost sincerity.

"Alright, here we go," my dad spoke with a serious tone.

As his voice dropped, I started to feel the oddest sensation I'd ever felt. This feeling flowing through me felt refreshing, invigorating, warm, powerful, otherworldly. It was so many things, but above all else, it was comforting, like a warm blanket on a snowy winter day. Like waking up from a nightmare to see your parents' smiling faces telling you everything is okay.

As this feeling invaded my body, I found myself getting lost in it. I shook my head lightly, telling myself to trace the energy along my body's pathways and find where it gathered. The more I traced the path of the flowing energy, the faster it seemed to get until it all stopped, right in the middle of my gut.

"So this is chakra," I hummed under my breath to no one in particular.

As my dad told me to do, I started to draw this chakra out from within my gut and circulate it throughout my entire body. The sensations and feelings this energy was providing were even more exaggerated now. The only reason I could think that this would happen was that it was my own chakra this time instead of another person's chakra.

I opened my eyes to see myself sitting in about a quarter-meter-deep crater with a very light lavender color emanating from my entire body. I was stunned for a second before I turned my wide eyes to my dad, who was behind me.

"Is this the normal result of unlocking chakra, Dad?"

My dad was also a little gobsmacked for a couple of seconds before he snapped his attention back to me and shook his head while smiling.

"Nope, this really isn't normal. I don't know why I should've expected any different from you, Shiran," he chuckled while facepalming.

I sweat dropped looking at him as the color along my body started to fade.

'Did he really just call me abnormal to my face? Should he be saying stuff like that to his own son?' I thought to myself.

He must've realized what he said and lightly coughed, avoiding my gaze.

"Alright, here's what we'll do next," my dad spoke to me while pulling out a sheet of yellowish paper.

"This is called chakra paper, and it's going to tell us which chakra natures you have an affinity with. Now, that's not to say you can't do jutsu of other natures, but it'll take around 30-50% more chakra to do them. There are 5 chakra natures, and each has a corresponding reaction on the paper. If the paper burns to ashes, then you have a fire affinity; if your paper gets cut down the middle, then you have a wind affinity. The paper will crumble to pieces of dirt if your affinity is earth, while if you have an affinity for lightning, it will crumple the paper up. The last is water, and you'll know if your affinity is water because the paper will turn soggy."

I nodded in understanding, having watched Naruto and read too many fanfictions, I naturally knew all the different affinities and how to know which ones I had.

My dad gave me the small piece of paper and told me to insert a little chakra into the slip. As I did this, it felt weird, as if the paper was eating up the chakra that I gave it as it started to give a reaction.

Everyone in the backyard watched as my paper split into three and then two of the sides wrinkled, and the other one dampened. The biggest slice of the paper though turned into a dark cloud, almost as if it was a mini storm cloud before it disappeared in the wind.

I stood there a little speechless as I had 3 affinities. I knew that I would end up having the storm kekkei genkai, but to have an extra wind affinity was amazing, especially considering it fits in well with the storm release.

"Wow, you really are a freak, bud," my dad commented once again while I stared him down, almost ready to clobber his nose with my fist. Luckily, my mom beat me to it before I could.

*BAM*

"Don't talk about our son that way, Haru." Although my mom was also internally shocked at the fact that I had 3 affinities, she didn't say it out loud like her jokester of a husband did.

"Ouch! Ok, that was fair but still, that hurt. We do still have one more thing we have to test before we stop. It's a technique that only a handful of extremely lucky individuals are born with. Shiran, I want you to relax your mind just like when you were getting ready to feel where your chakra was in your body."

I nodded, sat down, and started to close my eyes to relax my mind again. Once I got to a good point, my dad spoke again.

"Ok, now I want you to focus on your brain. Envision a vast expanse of darkness within your mind, everything covered in darkness so black that it feels as if the light is being sucked into it. Now imagine that with each pulse of chakra you send there, things become a tad lighter, more easily understandable."

Internally, I nodded, imagining exactly what my dad was talking about, and before long, the darkness started to go away. It was like a veil was being lifted away from my mind. I could see colors, people were glowing, and there were weird balls of glowing light floating around me and my father, all of them were different colors.

Suddenly, there was an immense burst of sparks that erupted in my mind as the veil was completely taken off. Everything was amplified, and I was able to sense things that weren't able to be sensed through regular means. It was way too much, and I felt such a violent headache start to rock my mind that before I knew it, I started to scream.

"AH!" That was all I got out before I collapsed into my dad, who came forward to catch me gently.

"I guess it would make sense that he also got the Mind's eye of Kagura ability as well," Haru turned to look at Kumiko, who had eyes filled with worry for her son.

"He'll be okay, honey, don't worry. He just needs some sleep and the ability to close it off until his brain gets used to the constant stimulation," Kumiko nodded, a little more reassured that Haru had that front all under control.
