34 - 34 - A Talk with Yama

Izuna asked, "So will you teach me Sage Mode?"
The massive bear looked at him and said, "Not right now. First, we must sign the summoning contract." They then signed with blood, a contract that the bear had in the chamber, and Izuna could now feel the ability to summon several bears.
The bear then said, "I will bring you to meet the other bears after we are done talking. They will be the ones you summon for the distant future. While I am your main summon since you appeared before me, you are still too weak to summon me. Your chakra reserves will have to reach Jounin level if you ever want to summon me without killing yourself or wasting all your chakra."
Izuna nodded, surprised that he would get a chance to summon this massive bear, whom he assumed to be monstrously powerful, especially with Sage Mode at all.
Izuna then once again asked, "So what about Sage Mode?"
The bear, who had been serious this entire time, finally let out a small chuckle and said, "You sure are impatient, aren't you? But don't worry, I will indeed teach you Sage Mode."
Hearing that put a huge smile on Izuna's face. Learning Sage Mode would probably instantly catapult him to jounin level right now, and considering his gift from the god-like being of having all the affinities, it should be pretty easy for him to learn Senjutsu as well.
The bear, seeing the smile on Izuna's face, once again laughed and then decided it was time to rain on Izuna's parade.
He then said, "However, you are far too weak to learn Sage Mode right now."
Izuna instantly stopped smiling and said, "So when will I be strong enough?"
The bear then said, "There are two criteria you need to learn Sage Mode. The first is high chakra reserves. While I'm surprised by the amount of chakra reserves you currently have for your age, it isn't nearly enough, but don't worry, it shouldn't be much longer, if you keep up the pace I imagine you've been going at, a couple of years at most. The second is chakra control. I'm not sure where your chakra control is currently, but I will test that in a minute. You should know that it must be very good, or you will either not be able to use Sage Mode or it will get you killed. And then there is the third and last condition that the Sage of Aurora Valley has set. All who wish to learn the Sage Mode of the bears of Aurora Valley must be proficient in our Kekkei Genkai."
Izuna, hearing the bear's words, wasn't that surprised at first; he knew that you needed high chakra reserves and good chakra control from the show, but he had hoped he met the criteria by now.
He was very close to having the chakra of a jounin now, but the bear said it would take a couple of years, so obviously he wasn't that close. And the chakra control was yet to be determined; he didn't know what test the bear would give him, but he would do his best to pass it. Last was the kekkei genkai; while he currently didn't know any kekkei genkai, he knew that he could use all of them, so he then asked, "So, what is your kekkei genkai? Is it wood release like Hashirama used?"
The bear then said, "Yes, it is wood release like Hashirama used. My father, the grandson of the great sage, is the one who taught him how to use wood release, and I will now begin to teach you."
Izuna was surprised that the bear seemed to assume he could use the kekkei genkai, so he asked, "How do you know if I can use it?"
The bear then said, "It has already been prophesized by the great sage." Izuna nodded his head and then said, "Now what?"
The bear then said, "Yes, it is wood like Hashirama used. My father, the grandson of the great sage, is the one who taught him how to use Wood Release, and I will now begin to teach you."
Izuna was surprised that the bear seemed to assume he could use the Kekkei Genkai, so he asked, "How do you know if I can use it?"
The bear then said, "It has already been prophesized by the great sage."
Izuna nodded his head and then said, "Now what?"
The bear then said, "Now, I will test your chakra control." The bear then asked him to do several exercises. The first was just the leaf concentration exercise, which the bear simply said, "That was decent," once he finished at 1 hour and 45 minutes. Next, the bear tested his elemental control of earth and water, which seemed to be the bear's main affinity since it was the two that mixed together to make Wood Release.
The bear once again said his earth elemental control was decent but said that his water control was terrible, which was understandable since Izuna had yet to be able to practice water or lightning.
The bear then said, "At the pace you are going, your overall chakra control and earth elemental control should be up to standards in a few years, maybe. But your water control is absolutely terrible. You have a lot of work to do before you are going to be skilled enough to mix earth and water together to form Wood Style."
Izuna now widened his eyes in realization and thought, 'So, I was being tested to see how soon I will be able to start practicing Wood Style.'
The bear then said, "Keep practicing, and I will test you again in the future. If I think you are ready, I will begin to teach you Wood Release, but you really need to start focusing on water."
Izuna then had a great idea and said, "Actually, the reason my water control is so bad is because I've never been able to practice it. I'm trying to keep my Water and Lightning Styles a secret, so I can't practice them openly."
The bear then said, "I see," then it paused in thought.
Izuna then jumped in and asked, "So, do you think I could start coming here to practice?"
The bear then said, "I don't see why not."
Izuna then said, "Thank you so much. This will make things so much easier." This entire time, he was focusing on Fuinjutsu for the main purpose of creating a secret training place, but now he could slow down his training a little bit. Now, he only really needed to learn Fūinjutsu for the Flying Thunder God Jutsu.
